not wanting to be a woman is not an act of misogyny but some of y'all are not ready to hear that
I misread this as “not wanting to be a woman is an act of misogyny” and I was like wow the transandrophobes are really getting out of hand
But then I read it correctly and yess this
Research for name change workbook
This USA-based research project wants your name change stories for a trans-supportive name change workbook.
Their form is here. I haven't done it myself because I'm busy with the Gender Census, so do your due diligence if you are wary about online privacy/security.
not to be all "these two words will change your life" or whatever, but I promise you, programming in "good catch!" as your response to people correcting you/pointing out errors or whatever removes so much friction from interactions, and comes with a delightful happy meal toy of "not hating yourself so much for making mistakes"
I use "I stand corrected" a lot. The mild silliness of the outdated language makes it work for me.
I had a high school science teacher who would say "if you admit you're wrong and change your mind..." and the whole class would respond back "... you aren't wrong anymore!"
And when a kid would assert something incorrect In class, he wouldn't tell them they were wrong, he would help lead them to the right answer and then when they admitted/ accepted the new information, he'd say "now we're both right! Nice work!"
For a bunch of gifted kids whose identity and reputation often was staked on knowing more than most people, it was a great safety valve. No shame in making a mistake, because if you accept it you have learned! Now you are smarter! It always made me feel better.
I feel like growing up I was taught (by others or myself) that it was embarrassing to be wrong at all ever so if I have even the slightest feeling that I might be wrong I usually just don’t say anything (thanks mum for laughing at me as a child when I got stuff wrong)
Anyway so because of this people tend to see me as a know-it-all refuses to be wrong kind of person (my own mother has criticised me for this as if it isn’t her fault… anyway) but usually the answer is “I googled it five times because I was scared of being seen as wrong”
So yeah this would have been nice when I was younger
so weird when people act like physical disabilities and mental illness/neurodivergence are two groups with zero overlap and that having one means you’re somehow exempt from the other… literally all the physdisabled people i know have comorbid mental illness, often trauma or depression resulting from their disability, but often unrelated stuff like psychosis too. more mentally ill/neurodivergent people than you expect are affected physically by stuff like extrapyramidal antipsychotic side effects. plenty of autistic people have gait issues and uncontrollable stims. eating disorders can cause osteoporosis and incontinence. and of course there’s stuff like brain injuries or parkinsons which are both physically and mentally disabling. etc
my point is. physical disability 🤝 mental illness. there is so much overlap between our communities.

Why do they even make apps for ADHD. You want me to use my 24/7 handheld immediate distraction device? To manage my 'gets distracted too easily' disorder? Ooooh we developed the perfect tool for managing your anemia. Its hosted in Dracula's castle. 👍
Picked up my phone to consult my task list for today and now I'm reblogging this instead, case in point
friendly reminder!
YES aroaces can be in relationships(like me!). YES aroaces can be in love. YES aroaces can do/be interested in romance/sex. they are STILL aroace, as it is a spectrum. however, NO you can not use "but aroaces can still date/have sex!" as an excuse to shove aside their identity for your allo ships.
respect aroace spec identities or this reminder will get continuously LESS friendly.
A 19-year-old black trans girl was shot to death this month, and there has been absolutely no media reporting on it - despite extensive reporting on almost identical incidents in the same part of Florida, at the same time. The police, as usual, misgendered her in the police report and have done nothing to find her killer. Her name was Jayla Mcgee. Black trans people deserve to grow old.
Police misgendered Jayla McGee, local media overlooked her homicide, and her community was left to make sure she was not erased.
Spoiler alert for Spiderman brand new day
So I watched it in the cinema today (twas very good I recommend) and in the scene where mj says smt like “I don’t love you” someone near the front of the cinema audibly gasped really loudly and then half the theatre laughed at them for doing so lol
I was worried about theatre etiquette but aside from a tad bit of whispering and a few people not turning their phones off and some snack bag crumpling it was pretty good. Also the most crowded I’ve seen a movie theatre since I’m pretty sure 2019, possibly ever
Also at the end we all sat around waiting for the end credit scene and when it was done someone said “really?” Sarcastically and honestly fair. The vibes of waiting for the end credits scene can be fun but if you haven’t seen it and don’t really care about the vibes I’d say just go home and watch it on YouTube
I feel a desire to educate the world about my brother’s curse and/or blessing depending on how you read it.
Firstly biscuit basin in Yellowstone erupts the day after we visited it. But okay loads of people visit Yellowstone every day just a coincidence we got lucky we went the day we did and not the day after
Update on the July 23 Biscuit Basin hydrothermal explosion
But then my brother goes to Switzerland (without the rest of the family, which is how we know it’s just him) and happens to go to this village. Comes back and about a week later a landslide destroys that exact village

So now we’re like dam bro it happened twice you must be curse or smt, but it’s just a joke right. Until we go to Japan and on our trip go to Kumamoto. Welp we got back and what do we see on the news a few days later? Earthquake

He’s either cursed or blessed that he somehow narrowly misses these things

eating disorders and abortions are two things that are like, spoken about in most mainstream discourse as though they are pretty rare and aberrant, but then when you’re actually friends with a lot of women you come to find out that they are extremely extremely common and kind of banal & mundane
I won’t forget being on a school trip and the three girls in my room all either had eating disorders at that point or had had at some point in their lives. Before then I thought EDs were some rare thing
ERROR: Swastikas aren't racist, the hakenkreuz is.
this one is gonna get me a lot of shit but
I am so sick of when one trans men is shitty in some way, like being racist or transmisogynistic, people are like "omg this is proof every single trans men ever is an evil horrible person"
but then a trans woman can be like incredibly bigoted and racist and if you call that single person out for it, just that person, then you're a transmisogynist and how dare you accuse them of anything, because women are the Good Gender and are pure and can't be abusive or bigoted or rapists and men are the Evil Gender and every single man ever is a rapist
and it's like...idk how to express this because like trans women are pedojacketed and generalized by cis people constantly, but trans men are also treated horribly by cis people (fucking look at ANYTHING to do with Elliot Page), but transandrophobes will act like every trans man is evil and deserves anythhing that happens to them. and that trans women can do no wrong
and it's frustrating because like generalizing is horrible!!! no one group is all evil!!! and on the flipside, it's super important to call out actual bigotry in the community no matter who it comes from! if a trans man is being racist or otherwise bigoted, call them out!!! but don't have a double standard and accuse people of being a transmisogynist if they call out a racist transfem???
hey you 🫵 have you washed your water bottle lately? 🫵 it’s getting hot and mold is going to grow 🫵 wash it 🫵
Jokes on you I don’t drink water
no, white baby, racism isn’t a valid trauma response.
Okay, let me make this 100% clear since apparently, saying it once isn’t enough.
This is not about your fucking fandoms.
“But the character is racist!” I don’t fucking care, this post is about real people who pull this shit. Stop tagging it with fictional characters, it means you are not taking the post seriously.
It is incredibly fucking disrespectful, and I really shouldn’t have to be saying this more than once.
Coming from a fandom goer, y’all need to do way fucking better than this.
I don’t care that I’m being rude, I’m tired of seeing fellow Black Tumblr users alongside myself have their posts be made about fandoms they were never about, and YOU are much ruder for derailing a post about racism.
Make. your. own. post.

This is me with Ryland Grace
Realistic headcanon: Aro/ace
Playing with dolls: Grace and Markiplier for some reason idk I haven’t seen iron lung
When I was in primary school in year 4 we did a thing in English on debating and what was cool is that the overarching topic was “who was in the wrong, the three pigs or the big bad wolf?”
I won’t get into specifics of both sides of the argument cause that’s not my point but what is interesting is we all learned important debating skills like how to present your point accurately, see the other side’s point of view, etc
And the reason I bring this up is because obviously having a term long debate about whether the big bad wolf or the three little pigs were in the wrong in that story is obviously pointless and not something we’re necessarily gonna take with us into the future, but what it did do is inform us how to debate
And this is why I think in fandom discourse it’s so important not to use fallacies and not to argue in bad faith because sure it doesn’t actually matter in the real world whether this character is bad or good or whatever but what does matter is how you choose to have that conversation
The way I see it, if you argue in bad faith and use fallacies and don’t present your point of view well and don’t see other people’s points of view in a topic about some fandom thing that doesn’t matter, that implies that you would do the exact same in a real world scenario talking about politics and stuff
Tl;dr: Don’t argue badly in fandom just because it “doesn’t matter” cause that will transfer to the real world
