I “should” wait till the bruising isn’t apparent on the fresh one, but these are just so fun and happy! They change so pleasingly when I bend and look cool when I dance! #shapes! They’re not quite done because I’ll get the solid black touched up, but the worst is over, thank god

I am energetic today and it doesn’t feel good. When I’m doing well, my level of energy is like weather at the perfect temperature: it’s just right for everything I’m trying to do and I don’t have to think about it and don’t notice it. Often it is various levels of low. Today for some reason I have a somatic experience of noticeable spare/excess energy. I know so many people with ADHD, a condition I definitely do not have, and am wondering if they feel like this every single day (I know for many of them it can also manifest simultaneously with low energy/tiredness somehow). It’s so different from what inhabiting my body is like normally! I find it really hard to tolerate, actually!
New type of guy just dropped.

My parents have friends who had a kid my age - we only actually met a couple times, because they live across the country - and that kid grew up and wrote/illustrated a book about queerness, and there is an allusion to me in it! (My parents went to the book talk tonight and discussed this with them, apparently!)
What strikes me about this is:
1) I vividly remember thinking this fellow child was cool and getting along really well, and now they are also trans (and polyamorous)
2) I have zero memory of ever saying I was a boy when I was a toddler or indeed of hearing this attested by my parents, and in fact have thought of myself for many years as part of the group of trans people who were neutral on gender in early childhood and only got consciously freaked out about it with the advent of puberty, so this is actually really messing with the narrative - but I’m sure it must be true because this person’s parents did know my parents when I was that age
(also that is not my real last name!)

I can write lots of things from scratch (though I am very, very grateful my job is mostly editing, not writing) but I just cannot write a pleasant meaningless celebratory message for National [Job] Week or National [Other Job] Month or Administrative Professionals Day for the life of me. The degree to which my brain grinds to a halt is embarrassing. Getting AI to do it is also invariably terrible because this is an inherently terrible type of content.
Unsurprisingly, the vast majority of the optional recognitions we solicited asking people to honor a colleague performing [Job] particularly well were also very obviously written with AI. This is making proofreading them easy because of the lack of human-type errors: all I have to do is remove the serial commas out of the zillions of triplet constructions! Perhaps next time I should remind everyone to tell their LLM of choice that we use AP style so it can punctuate accordingly and save me even more work.
One knee down!
I got it yesterday with FRIEND (Den!!), who went first and got beautiful burgundy kiki/bouba on their fronts of ankles.
We were there for fully 12 hours - absolutely wild that the tattooer worked that late and didn’t have us leave, but also the whole experience was quite lackadaisical and involved a lot of chatting as well as refining and placing. The chatting felt very important while getting black packed around the knee, which does suck. I used the spiky mild-pain-inducing fidget toy I bought to try to better handle hours-long meetings, and that helped too.
Over the course of the day we ate almost a whole large paneer tikka masala pizza (I did give a slice to the counter person, who was wildly grateful). The counter person was also dressing up for a concert that evening and consulted us on outfit choices: plush bunny ears? Plush clown hat? Both?
And I am now at the Star Trek burlesque show! What a weekend!
