I certainly have some great pronunciation resources for French!!

The Youtube channel French Sounds is brilliant for learning how to physically make a certain sound. I would know – the videos here taught me the French “r” sound and the “eu” sound (as  in “heures”)…très utile !

Another great resources is Forvo; here you can listen to native speakers pronouncing almost every word! I use it all the time :D

This website is a true gem for every French learner. It is indispensable, to take maybe an hour a week to work on pronunciation, especially on here.

These Youtube videos are basically repetition drills; you repeat after the native speaker and it really helps! I especially recommend spending a good amount of time on the middle video and record yourself repeating after the speaker.

So let's start with this image: a villain with a red handprint covering their face, otherwise wearing pretty plain clothes

I was curious as to what this character represented in the comics, so I did a little digging. I found this article which introduced me to the Flag Smashers. Sounded sketchy so I kept looking into it.

This bit from a marvel wiki confirmed my fears. We're aligning Nazism with anti-patriotism. This villain represents someone critical of the United States. Apparently the Flag Smasher has an alter ego named Captain Anarchy but I didn't look into it.

In a time of social unrest, protests and riots against the state, Marvel has essentially aligned themselves with nationalism. Now back to the red hand. This is what initially made me uncomfortable.

My mom gave me and my sister two days every semester that she called “mental health days.”

Those were days, that for ANY reason, and without having to tell my mom the reason, we could skip the day of school. We’d just tell her we were taking a mental health day and she’d call the school and let them know we were not coming in. 

#1 This helped keep our grades up by lowering our stress levels. I never got a C in any grade school class. The majority of my classes I received A’s. I also took 4 AP classes and they were not weighted. Trust me, it made a difference.

#2 I never felt the need to skip school. I knew if I ever wanted to or needed to my mom would help me. 

One of my math teachers in high school had a policy called The Red Beanbags of Don’t Bother Me. He kept a pile of red beanbags on his desk, and at any time of the day you could go over and take one. From that point on, as long as you were in his classroom with a beanbag on your desk, no one could bother you. He wouldn’t call on you to answer problems, no students were allowed to talk to you, and perhaps most importantly, no one could ask why you took a bean bag that day. The only caveat was that if you used the beanbag more than three times in a semester you had to go talk to the school counselor about it.

Alternatively, if you put a mattress over them they become useless, although you do risk having the city take the mattress. Normally they don’t reinstall the spikes if you keep removing them.

As for the benches, a concrete or hand held circular saw can cut off the arm rests of the benches with too many arm rests to sleep on. Just remember: Wear protective goggles and practice proper safety if using power tools. All of this stuff can be bought at Home Depot or your local variant of Home Depot.
