Written for @eddiediazeventcentral's Year of Eddie Diaz July prompt of "vacation"

They stopped frequently and when Buck unbuckled Theo, giving Chris a reprieve from being next to an irritating toddler, Theo would take off running across the parking lot.

Buck would sigh and chase him down, all the while Theo laughed like it's the best game ever. Buck is clearly exhausted, so Eddie doesn't mind being the one to do most of the driving. He really would do anything for Buck, at this point in their lives. He wasn't about to leave Buck behind from this trip just because Theo makes things a little harder. And to be clear, Eddie does love Theo. He loves him because Buck loves him and because Theo loves Eddie and Chris and the whole thing makes him feel—

They get Theo back in the car, just another hour until their first hotel in a little unincorporated place called Bishop. They get adjoining rooms at the Best Western and decide to give this Texas-style barbecue place a try.

Thankfully, there's a patio for them to sit at so that Theo's tenacity won't completely disturb the whole restaurant. It's hot so there's only one other group of people there, with a dog.

Eddie gets Buck's order—brisket sandwich—and Theo's order—chicken fingers and Mac and cheese—before he and Chris go inside to order for the four of them, Theo all the while screaming "hi doggy!" across the patio.
