at this point i genuinely have no idea what the writers thought they were writing, because at what point in the story was "cabbage" used against lestat for him to reappropriate
okay a. wishbaby epreg. I'm thinking magical realism au where the 118 accidentally came into contact with an extremely powerful wish-fulfilling artifact but only find out afterwards when some kind of agency comes to check up on them. everyone else just had some regular things they were wishing for come true to them. buck seems unaffected and eddie is throwing his guts up.
the agency comes to check up on them and they tell eddie mr diaz it looks like you’re pregnant with a completely straight face and eddie is like Fuck You and the person who gave him the news nods like yeah that’s understandable. however it is true. you’re pregnant. and eddie still doesn’t believe it until hen and chim and ravi are talking about how their wishes actually coming true. and they ask eddie what he wished for and he, stone-faced, says well im pregnant. and buck, who’s been completely silent so far because nothing happened to him, makes a noise like he’s dying. which eddie doesn’t even hear. hen, chim, and ravi keep looking at him for a very long time, just in case he’s joking. he’s not. and they’re like oh eddie that’s so. we’re so happy for you. and his eye twitches. he doesn’t look at buck for a whole week and the entire time buck thinks oh fuck he Knows. eddie knows i knocked him up. i knocked eddie up. oh my god. they probably don’t talk about it until eddie’s in active labor.
I suggest: the topic comes up right before active labor. there's this weird tension between them the entire time because they both think "oh FUCK I forced this on him" and eventually buck breaks and is like IM SORRY EDDIE I KNOCKED YOU UP WITH MY STUPID WISH IM SO SO SORRY and eddie, who until then had been blaming himself to hell and back for wanting this too much, now narrows his eyes and buck and is like. YOU🫵, about to launch into repression tirade hitherto unseen, which is of course exactly when his water breaks
another epreg scenario i really enjoy: buck and eddie have an ill advised hookup and then they’re like well this was obviously a mistake and things should go back to how they were before. even though they both want to be together and it’s killing them. and when eddie starts feeling under the weather and tired all the time and unable to keep anything down, he’s like im dying from a broken heart. which is fine. whatever. buck said it was a mistake (eddie agreed). then maybe something happens while they’re on a call and he has to go to the hospital and he finds out he’s pregnant and he’s like Oh. this is worse. then he immediately feels so bad about it he starts sobbing so hard, chimney, who went with him because he also needed to get checked out, actually thinks eddie’s dying.
ooohhhhhohohohohoho sicko voice yes YES naturally chim is so worried eddie has to tell him what's going on, only after promising not to tell anyone of course (chim voice through gritted teeth Great I'll Keep That Secret From My Loved Ones Uh Huh) and then eddie's stuck in the saw trap of well he wants to be with buck but he doesn't want to babytrap buck like this and how does this keep HAPPENING to him he is such an IDIOT and he'll MESS THIS UP (I imagine after buck eventually finds out he is like (in love) omg eddie we should get married!!!! and eddie almost passes out or starts sobbing because nooooo this is how it went the first time around and look how that turned out!!!)
like when eddie finally decides to tell buck he sits him down and is like Look. we can do this as friends. we can just be friends. you can even date other people. i won’t mind (<- he’s only telling buck now because someone on call was flirting with buck and the whole time eddie was thinking im literally carrying his baby :/). meanwhile buck is already planning their wedding and their honeymoon and wondering if they need to move to a bigger house.
everyone thinks I like omegaverse bc I talk about mpreg Eddie Diaz but I actually just think that one specific man should be pregnant is that so crazy?

also while we’re on the topic of epreg, everyone needs to go read the punchline to the joke is asking "someone save us!" by drunkonyou/@rivrdale immediately.
merry christmas @livingincolorsagain, ages ago you stole the unfinished buddie painting from my room so i guess it's only fair if you get it as a present before i lose it somewhere in a drawer. come pick it up at your earliest convenience <3
buddie | T | 2.2k | first kiss, idiot4idiot, drunk eddie, jealous buck, the water/juice metaphor actually being used, alternating povs, tooth-rotting fluff, mutual pining, they’re both so silly here, so in love it makes them look stupid <3, some mild angst because they’re stupid
"There's steam coming out of your ears," Hen says drily, taking a sip out of her very vibrant cocktail, and Buck blinks, eyes dry like he hasn't blinked in a very long time.
"What?" he asks, trying to turn to look at her, but just as he's about to, Eddie throws his head back laughing and Buck feels himself sitting up straighter, ears perked up even though it's impossible for him to hear what they're talking about from all the way across the club. He should probably go check on Eddie. It's been so long and he really does need that drink.
"I'm gonna go see what's taking Eddie so long," he says, still not taking his eyes off them.
"I think we can see just fine from over here."
"I'm just gonna check on him."
"He looks perfectly fine."
"You don't know that, we can't see his face."
"We can, you've just been staring at his ass all night."
Buck's eye twitches, but he ignores her. "Yeah, let me go see what's going on."
(Or, Eddie chooses juice. Buck chooses him right back.)

buddie | T | 2.6k | post s8, pov buck, pining buck, hurt eddie, pre-relationship, mutual pining, angst, hurt/comfort, love confessions, don’t let the tags fool you they’re actually really soft here, they’re so in love
He looks, and looks, and looks, then he goes back home—Eddie’s home—where the sunlight is catching the soft strands of Eddie’s hair as he sits hunched over the kitchen table, poring over some paperwork. Where Christopher’s laugh sneaks out of his bedroom and bounces off the walls. Where Buck’s toothbrush sits pressed close to Eddie’s in the bathroom.
And he gets it, a little bit, why nothing feels right. Why nothing feels like home.
Buck never felt like a visitor in Eddie’s home. He never questioned it, whether or not he belongs here. It’s always been so easy, so natural.
It’s simple: Buck’s not a guest; he has a key. He knows where that active dry yeast jar is, shoved all the way in the cabinet. He knows where the good, expensive pan goes, on top of the other pans and pots so it doesn’t get scratched. He knows which air freshener to get, one that doesn’t make Christopher’s allergies act up.
So yeah, Buck gets it, little by little, and a little more every day, why nothing feels right.
(Or, Buck tries to move out. The universe screams, and Eddie falls.)
They’re more than a little drunk, so maybe Eddie can blame it on that.
Maybe he can blame the way his chest flutters and twists when he looks at Buck on the few drinks he’s had. The way the smile on his face hurts his cheeks as he watches Buck struggle and curse as he tries and fails and tries again to get the key into the lock to open the door—maybe Eddie can blame the hazy state of his mind for that.
The way everything feels weightless and light and floaty, because Buck keeps throwing looks at him, like he knows Eddie is laughing at him and decidedly refusing to help; like he wants to be a little mad about it but can’t, betrayed by the way his lips keep twitching, his smile too bright and too strong to hold back. Maybe it’s all because of the alcohol.
“Buck,” Eddie grumbles, because he does enjoy this. “Come on.”
Buck huffs. “I’m trying!”
“Try harder.”
A scoff. “You try, then!”
“I can,” Eddie says, with way more confidence than he feels, as he takes a step closer.
“You couldn’t even walk to the door. I basically had to carry you.”
That is technically true, and it makes Eddie’s belly do this weird flutter thing, like a swarm of butterflies taking flight. The alcohol, he thinks, again, almost desperate with it. It’s a weird thing, because his whole body feels like a long line of heat, and he knows if he gets closer to Buck, he’s going to burn brighter, burst into flames.
He sways closer still.
“I can do it,” he says, making grabby hands at Buck. He has his keys, he thinks, somewhere in his pockets. He still asks for Buck’s. “Gimme.”
“No,” Buck says, rolling his eyes. “I got it.”
“It’s been, what, an hour? Let me do it.”
“Okay, it’s been like, five minutes, at most. Come on.”
Eddie surges forward, trying to grab hold of the keys. Buck makes a loud noise, voice caught between a gasp and a wheeze and a laugh, turning away and holding the keys out of reach as he tries to shake Eddie off him.
It goes on for a while, they’re circling each other, doing this weird dance that makes Eddie glad he doesn’t have a security camera and no one is ever going to see them like this.
By the end of it, Eddie is breathless, leaning against the door, face warm and eyes watering and chest hurting from how hard he’s been laughing.
Buck is standing before him, just as breathless, his curls even more of a mess now, holding the keys behind his back, giving Eddie a smug look as he jingles them, like he’s won.
And Eddie can’t have that. He lunges forward, but this time Buck is more ready, and he dodges him. They shuffle a little, Eddie sneaking his arm around Buck’s waist, searching blindly for the hand holding the keys. He finds it, sneaks his palm from Buck’s wrist to where he’s clenching his fist around them, looks up to gloat as he takes hold of the keychain, and freezes.
Buck’s face is close, closer than it’s ever been. Their chests are pressed together, Eddie realizes, because he can feel Buck’s heart thudding against his, strong enough it makes Eddie’s heart race to match its beat.
They’re so close, and Eddie can see every shade of blue in Buck’s eyes, even here in the dim, flickering light of the one, single bulb above the front door, the one he keeps forgetting to replace. He can see as every shade of blue is slowly swallowed by black, how those eyes drop to his lips then back up again, quick like Buck doesn’t want to be caught doing it.
Eddie thinks he stops breathing altogether.
Slowly, Eddie’s other senses rush in, and he becomes aware that Buck’s other arm is around his waist, that Buck’s fingers are pressing into his hips. He can feel the cool breeze of the night, how it feels icy cold over his overheated skin.
Eddie’s eyes flicker down.
Buck’s lips are parted, and Eddie’s heart shutters and stumbles in his chest. He wants to lean in, he realizes, and he shivers with it, with this vibrant, aching want that’s pressing into his ribs, pushing like it wants to come out, to climb out and curl into the dimples of Buck’s smile and the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes.
Buck says, “Eddie,” so softly there’s almost no sound to it, just a puff of air, and Eddie sways in, even closer, breathes in the sharp tang of alcohol still hanging into Buck’s tongue, shakes with how much he wants to taste it, to—
The front door opens behind him. Sharp, bright light floods the space, and suddenly Buck’s arm is no longer around him, and he’s standing a few steps away, looking between Eddie and the open doorway with wide, unblinking eyes.
hello…….. number 9 listening to the other’s heartbeat
prompt from this list
Buck isn't sure how long he has been sitting where he is. Time has become warped, stretched out and meaningless, and Buck can feel every single bone in his body ache, every muscle a little numb, every nerve ending buzzing with electricity, and it doesn’t feel like his body is his own anymore, like maybe he has left it behind, right where he last saw Eddie's eyes open, his fingers twitching where they grabbed at Buck’s clothes.
Now, Eddie's hand is limp in his, and Buck keeps running his thumb over the knuckles, where the skin is a little stretched and dry and cracked and cooler to the touch than usual.
Eddie would hate it. He would hate it so much. His hands are soft and warm, always so soft and so warm. You could be a hand model, someone once told him, and Eddie had laughed and rolled his eyes and Buck had secretly agreed with them, then pressed kisses to Eddie's knuckles on the way home, just because he could.
If Buck were stronger, if he were a better man, he would take Hen or Chim or Ravi or Maddie Or Pepa on their offer. He would go home, shower and eat and maybe grab the tub of lotion Eddie keeps in his nightstand and uses every night. He would scrub the dirt and grime off his face and from under his nails, because he doesn't think he has done that yet. He doesn’t remember.
But he isn’t stronger, and he isn’t a better man. He can’t be. All he can do is sit here and hold onto Eddie's hand tightly, listen to his heartbeat closely, make sure that it’s steady, that it’s right, beating that tempo Buck knows better than his own heart.
He keeps looking at Eddie, watching his face, frozen like a portrait, and he only looks away when Christopher walks in, takes the empty chair next to him, rests his head next to his dad’s knee, looking unbearably young with his lanky legs and golden curls and thin-framed glasses.
Chris doesn't look at him, doesn’t say anything, just closes his eyes, and waits.
Buck’s chest feels hollow, like it has been carved out with a dull knife. He extends his free hand, runs his fingers over the crown of Chris’ head, down to the nape of his neck, rests his hand there, and for a second, he’s holding his entire world in his two hands, and he can breathe.
“Chris,” he says, voice cracking, and Chris just shakes his head, squeezes his eyes shut tighter, then turns his head to the other side, and Buck lets his hand drop away.
He wants to turn to Eddie, meet his eyes, ask him what to do, how to make it better. He doesn’t think he actually wants Eddie to say anything, he just wants him to look back, tilt his head with that smile, as if to say, c’mon, Buck, you already know how to make it better. You always knew.
But when he turns, Eddie's eyes are closed, framed by eye bags so dark they look like bruises, and Buck doesn't. He doesn’t know.
He doesn’t know how to make anything better when Eddie's eyes won't open. He doesn’t think he can.
Buck watches with bated breath as Eddie looks around.
He’s not sure why he’s so nervous. It shouldn't matter; even if Eddie hates this place, Buck loves it. He chose it. It’s Buck’s place now, his house. His home.
Still, the air catches in his lungs, held there like it’s frozen, and Buck waits, and waits, then finally, Eddie looks at him, and the air rushes so quickly out of his chest, it almost hurts.
He feels like he can’t remember the last time Eddie looked at him, which isn't fair, because Buck’s the one who’s been looking away.
“I like it,” Eddie says, quiet and honest, the way people are when they have more to say, but won’t say it. “It’s— it’s warm. Feels like a home already.”
“That’s— yeah. Yeah. Thanks.”
Eddie hums, hands in his pockets as he turns away, eyes going over every little detail. There’s still not much, the house’s bare—bare floors, bare walls, bare windows; decorated mostly by the various cardboard boxes and Eddie’s jacket hanging off the back of a chair that’s sitting in a corner.
It’s dangerous, Buck suddenly realizes, having Eddie here. The way he stands before the window, looking out, the setting sun bouncing off him, painting him golden and glowing and glittering, it makes Buck’s heart races, skipping and stumbling, imagining a future that's not his, can't ever be.
But still, the image persists. Eddie in more comfortable clothes, ones that are just big enough to not be his own, his hair a mess on the top of his head, a steaming cup of coffee in his hands, and Eddie, eyes closed as he breathes the steam in, letting it warm him up, and Buck, wrapped around him like a hug, just as warmed up.
Buck blinks, and the image ebbs away like a fading memory, but Eddie stays, real as everything Buck has wanted to touch but couldn't. Didn’t.
Eddie tilts his head to the side, still looking out the window, says, “Are you gonna start unpacking?”
Buck looks away, because he needs to breathe, and he can’t breathe when he’s looking at Eddie. “Um— yeah.” So breathless. He sounds so breathless. He clears his throat, inhales, exhales, tries again. “Yeah. Will start as soon as I can.”
Eddie looks at him. “I can help.”
Buck is shaking his head before the words are fully out of Eddie's mouth. “No. Uh. No, it’s fine. Maddie said she's gonna help. I don’t. Yeah.”
Eddie frowns, looks down, away again, then he nods silently, like he expected this answer, but wanted to try anyway.
Buck’s chest feels tight, restrained. He wants to say sorry. I'm sorry, but he can’t say it without explaining, and he can't explain it without saying too much, revealing too much.
“Okay, I’ll go then. I have to, uh, pick Chris up, anyway.”
He’s already moving, going from the window to the chair, picking up his jacket and putting it on, then he’s by the door, hand suspended midair as he turns, looks at Buck fleetingly, then down, away.
“I’m glad you found what you’re looking for,” he says, quiet and sincere, the way people are when they’re painfully honest and aching with it. “It’s beautiful, Buck.”
And he’s out the door before Buck gets a chance to open his mouth and say oh, but I found you a long time ago.
buddie | T | 1.1k | buck pov, first kiss, light angst, canon typical sexual and romantic buddie tension, noncanon typical resolved tension (in a way), theyre so in love it will make your teeth ache
It boils over once they're back in the hotel room they’ve been sharing.
There’s a buzz underneath Buck’s skin, an electric current that flows through him, like he’s still out there, ready for the next round of games. He's all adrenaline rush, making him feel hot and cold, shivering and shaking and restless as he watches Eddie, who seems to be in a similar position, flushed and buzzing, hair messy as he strips off his shirt and shakes his head, almost bouncing on the balls of his socked feet with the rush of it all.
Time slows, like molasses dripping down from Buck’s fingers to his wrist, sticky and sweet, as his eyes focus on Eddie's skin, on the flush that’s traveling down to his neck, his chest.
Buck looks up again, still nothing but potential energy waiting and wanting to burst out, and finds Eddie looking at him, eyes shining, glittering in the low light.
(Or, everything’s easier in a hotel room in Nashville. Even this. Even them.)

buddie | T | 1k | 9.15 coda, buck pov, pre-relationship, eddie takes care of buck, angst & hurt/comfort, buck and eddie are in love
“Buck?”
The word is a barely a whisper in the quietness of the room, but it lands like a clap of thunder during the night. It’s laced with so much softness, so much worry and concern, that Buck feels its sharp edge pierce right through his hollow chest.
He brings his hands up, wipes at his face roughly, tasting the salt of his tears and sweat just as the bed dips, a weight so inexplicably familiar it almost makes a bile climb back up Buck’s throat, burning and acidic.
“Buck,” Eddie says again, softer and gentler and quieter. Like a secret uttered into a starry night sky; like a prayer whispered into the confined space of a confessional.
Buck thinks it makes him shake harder.
(Or, Buck wakes up in the middle of the night. Eddie is there.)
like eddie’s anger didn’t even last that long. like he went to the couch fuming and buck went to the bedroom also fuming and then maybe an hour or so later eddie was like huh. that was insane. i gotta make an elaborate scheme to make this up for my best bud buck. hmmm i know exactly what to do. fly chris to la. an overnight flight. then his broke ass opened the website and actually booked a flight. an overnight, one way ticket. then ig he called his parents and chris very late at night like. hey. Take Chris To The Airport Tomorrow Morning. and his parents were probably like What. and eddie was like do it :). drive him to the airport??? I GUESS??? then he probably slept with a big smile on his face while buck was probably wallowing in the bedroom because eddie was hurting and buck, who’s fluent in eddie, missed it. and when buck woke up he was ready to talk about it. but eddie was gone. and he left a note. saying he went to the airport. he was probably giggling the whole time too. because he’s insane. oh my god eddie diaz you are so crazy and i love you so bad and so does evan buckley and i hope he eats your ass about it.
