Rest Eternal

Distant angel, I couldn't hide

Melting into the abyss of your chambers

Weary was the heavy heart

A sword bearing gifts, bound by the chain of your broken hand

You couldn't love me

Guilty were the words you spoke, tumbling over lips that bore semblance of the corpse you left behind

It’s her first time, since she died.

Swift as she went, the scent of chamomile rushes her nostrils.

The bag bounces like a buoy in the ocean, as waves of remembrance flood her mind.

The sweet aroma lingers like dewdrops on the leaf.

Slowly as she drinks, what was, no longer remains.

Silent in her tomb, she weeps.

The stillness of her corpse lying within the sepulcher of the wretched.

Deep within the bellows, a festering black whirls about in formidable toil.

A creeping convection rises, softly stroking the foggy panes.

Darkness stains the looking glass,

My spine aches tenderly, a column lightly bruised from your gentle touch.

Coins spilled from your pockets. 

Strands draped softly, the last pieces of you here.

Love emanates as you place your hand on mine, resting atop your delicate heart.

As I’m sitting here drunk and depressed, I wonder what I ever could have done to deserve such misery and torment.

My eyes well, like a mirror in a humid room.  A pure reflection of my broken and hollow self.

The sweat drips down into roaring cascades, crashing into the Dead Sea.
