Something that is very common in books for kids but is lacking everywhere else is siblings as the protagonists. I think as you get older people tend to have the love interests be protagonists together but the dynamic of a group of siblings together is so interesting. They could be best friends or they could resent each other or they could be fighting for someone’s attention or they could be grieving in ways that contrast each other or they could love each other more than anything else in the entire world. And obviously you can do that with characters who aren’t related to each other but it’s so interesting when they’ve (most likely) grown up in the same environment and you can see how it influenced them. More sibling protagonists in books now please
