They said there was a "surprising" character from later books in this season (it has to be a major character with a more significant role in the show than, for instance, Fareed, to be worth mentioning this way), major show-original characters have a tendency to turn out not to be show-original (Rashid, Bruce), Merrick is already associated with both Louis and the Talamasca, the Merrick plotline is the main book!Louis content left for the show creators to mine, and she's a witch, so there could be grounds for her to alter her appearance (or Louis' perception of it) deliberately. Maybe everyone is already talking about this but I've been hiding
