I joke about us finding the secret HRT that feminizes voices or makes mtf people short and makes ftm people tall and lets trans people be fertile, but I do have a private, earnest belief under the irony that it will happen in my lifetime.
We are doing amazing things with science all over the world, as someone who regularly visits a lot of trans surgery subreddits, more wonderful advancements in gender science are made every year. When I was a teenager it was basically unheard of to do null or end bottom surgery with both a penis and vagina or even urethral lengthing for phalloplasty. Vocal feminization surgery continues to get better. So much has happened in the last decade alone. Obviously its good for trans people to accept themselves the way they are to sciences current limitations. And its good for us to normalize and valorize our traits.
But deep down when people tell me there will always be a 'tell', there will always be one last thing trans people can never do to their body, its impossible for us to be completely indistinguishable, I just don't believe them. I think were gonna find a fix someday.
And I think if you're super dysphoric about any of these things, its fine to allow yourself to hope for it. To daydream for it. A world in which this happens.
Our ancestors 3000 years ago could barely have imagined estrogen/testosterone. Things that you can't change about your gender and body has for the last one hundred years been a quickly shortening list.
