I caved and got the new Monster High Skullector doll of David from the 1987 movie The Lost Boys. David was being sold for $65 and came to about $80 total with tax and shipping. As I'm writing this, David is still available for purchase directly from Mattel Creations.

After I got David out the box, I tried tackling the infamous Hair Cone. Inspired by this post I saw on Reddit, I dipped the Cone into a cup of hot water and brushed out the gel. Just doing that helped the overall appearance a lot. I also tried to cut the front line of hair. I may go back and trim the rest of the former Cone down as I think its height is also throwing it off for me. At least with a character like David I don't have to worry about being super neat when I cut the hair!

I wrapped a metal chain necklace around David's waist to make a belt to break up the bodysuit a little. I'll probably swap it out with with a shorter gold chain to go better with the rest of David's outfit. The chain belt also doesn't look great if David is wearing the take-out noodles/maggots purse at the same time, since that also has a chain strap. I might try to remove the strap of the purse so it's just the take-out box. The purse and a generic black Monster High stand are the only two accessories David comes with.

I'm not a huge fan of the bodysuit in general - I'm kinda 'eh' on the design on the front and pleather will deteriorate over time. The coat I like much more, although I wish it was lined.

The face sculpt is very striking, and is probably my favorite thing about the doll. (Sculpted fangs!!!!)

Is David worth $65? Probably not, unless you're a huge fan of the movie. Am I glad I own this doll? Definitely.

Nendoroid Back to the Future Doc Brown and Marty McFly with the Jada Toys R/C DeLorean.

Doc is here! This is the 1955 version of Doc in a very faithful reproduction of his outfit during the clocktower scene at the end of the first movie, and the end of the second movie, and the beginning of the third movie... He comes with two face plates (:D and D:), extra gloved hands, his 1955 TV set and two cardboard screens to put in the TV, one static and one of '85 Doc explaining how the time machine works. (They actually provide you with two of each screen, in case one gets lost or damaged. They are only cardboard...) The TV doesn't have a stand, it's just the set and the rabbit ears, so I placed it on a tiny cardboard box to elevate it a bit.

The goggles on Doc's shocked face plate aren't removable, so they can't be put on his smiling face. Doc's front hair piece is also a softer plastic to accommodate the straps of the goggles, unlike Marty, who has rigid plastic for both pieces of his hair. Because of how Doc's hair is styled, the seam between the front and back hair pieces isn't able to be hidden as well as Marty's and is more noticeable. The straps also stick out enough that the front hair piece won't lie completely flush with his face, which is a bit of a bummer.

"ONE POINT TWENTY-ONE GIGAWATTS?!"

For some reason, the rabbit ears for Doc's TV set are completely separate and not attached to the TV. (I think this is so there's room for Marty's camcorder to be placed on top, like in the movie.)

"There we go. Perfect!"

"I dunno Doc, I'm not sure Dad'll be convinced I'm an alien like this. Maybe the radiation suit would work better?"

Took Marty to the Back to the Future Day (Eve) performance of the Back to the Future musical on Broadway!

“Wait a minute, wait a minute. Doc, uh, are you telling me you built a time machine…out of a DeLorean?”

Nendoroid Back to the Future Marty McFly with the Jada Toys R/C DeLorean! Scale-wise pretty close, although since the doors on the car don’t open (because it’s a plastic shell over the R/C stuff) I can’t actually put Marty inside.

In addition to the video camera, Marty comes with a winking/looking through viewfinder face, the wooden plank skateboard from the ‘50s, and alternate hands. He is very cute, and overall I'm happy with him. I do wish that the arms and legs on Marty had a little more articulation - my only other Nendoroid is Doctor Strange and he is very poseable, so the lack of joints on Marty was a bit of a disappointment. Also, getting the strap on the camera to go back on over Marty's hand is a tremendous pain in the ass. I wish they'd just sculpted the strap onto the hand instead.
