He kisses those golden locks, soft and light.  Platonic, but wanting the romance of it.  "You were amazing up there, Dandelion,” he whispers.  The bard chuckles before stealing the man’s ale, grinning as Geralt scoffs in complaint.  “I just complimented you, you bastard!” he whines playfully, making a fake grab for the mug.  Dandelion keeps it out of reach, grinning slyly.

“Should’ve said so sooner,” he says with a laugh. 

Could be, will be, maybe? - 6k - teen

“Do you want to hold her?”

The princess doesn’t really wait for Jaskier’s answer; simply deposits the little babe into his arms, and Jaskier scrambles to hold her right, sneaking a hand to delicately cradle the head. She’s so small, he thinks to himself a little hysterically, and then, in quick succession, Geralt is going to love her.

Or: the story of how Jaskier visits Cintra over the years, and carves lasting bonds with Pavetta, with Ciri -  and finds himself as bound to Geralt as if Destiny herself had twined their fates together. 

Who made you smile again - 2k - teen

Barely audible, hoarsely, Geralt grits out, “I hurt you.”

Jaskier frowns at that, moving one hand from Geralt’s face to poke at the bruise on his thigh. “This?” he asks with a disbelieving little chuckle. “Geralt, darling, I’ve hurt myself worse by walking into doors. Or roughhousing with my brothers, as a child. Or tripping over my own clumsy feet. It was in jest, I don’t mind. I like you teasing me, you know I do. And marking me, though I usually prefer your mouth to be doing the actual marking.”

Which Geralt knows, he really does, but it does little to reassure him right now. “Not this,” he forces out, then amends, “Not only this.”

Fallen for a lie - 6k - teen

It was a long time before Geralt suspected anything. Geralt had been trained to notice such things at Kaer Morhen, and had gone years, decades even, without missing something as large as this. He could hear Vesemir shouting now at Geralt’s blindness, unexplainable aside from the locked away knowledge that this had escaped his attentions because he liked the way Jaskier chattered at him, the coin he brought in from his little tunes, liked him. Any bizarre incident that arose was brushed aside in favor of Jaskier’s easy company.

And there had been many incidents.

Geralt is cursed - or blessed. Transformed overnight into a human (and a startlingly handsome one at that), he’s forced to get used to the limitations of his new body. But perhaps there’s an upside to the spell: with his perfect skin, dark hair and new green eyes, he can’t help but notice the way Jaskier has begun to stare at him.

Forget me Not - 11k - teen

You meet up with your soulmate in dreams once or twice every year your whole life, giving you the chance to grow up together and befriend each other no matter where you live. The catch is you only remember what happens in those dreams if you’re currently in one, or if you meet in real life and you BOTH want to be with each other, meaning your waking lives carry on as they would have otherwise with you none the wiser as to whether or not you have a soulmate out there.  

This leads to unexpected and wonderful tearful reunions between soulmates discovering each other in waking life, but if your waking selves don’t get along or have emotional constipation (cough, Geralt, cough cough) you and your soulmate can only watch helplessly from your dream meetings as your waking selves make things terrible for both of you without even realizing it.

(Created my own homebrew soulmate!au rules to get myself some solid logical worldbuilding where the characters still have to choose each other in the end, no matter what what destiny says.)

Professor Pancratz - 1k - teen

“Come teach my class with me tomorrow.” He whispers in the witcher’s ear. He’s sporting a neatly trimmed beard these days, and it tickles Geralt’s neck in the most tempting way.

Geralt chuckles dryly, but the lack of an immediate quip tells him that Jaskier is serious. It’s a little scary how often they can read their minds by now.

“Don’t think so. You’re the teacher, Jask. I’ve got nothing to tell them.”

“But you’re the reason I’m still alive and teaching in the first place. Besides, you can just sit there, look pretty and answer some questions. My students have heard a lot about you, they’ll adore you.”

As someone pointed out, there’s too much ‘witcher watching out for his idiot’ and not enough 'the witcher is a himbo who loves his college educated bard husband, who is qualified to teach’ content out there. So I’m fixing it with a self-indulgent ficlet!

Jaskier always asks to stop whenever they reach meadows, to cut as many flowers as he can manage. He usually aims for white heather and feverfew, and Geralt usually ends up with some threaded through his hair. He assumes at first it’s just Jaskier’s restless fingers and part of his campaign to change Geralt’s image. It takes him nearly three years, and a fight with a higher vampire, to realise there’s more to it than that.

Your Last Words Mar My skin - 1k - teen

Soulmates only ever identified each other at the very last shared moment. Their last words were written on their other half’s skin. Jaskier was bare of any words but Geralt was absolutely littered with them.

Sandstorms and Hazy Dawns - 6k - teen

Geralt loves her, his lion, his dæmon. He loves her with every fibre of his being. She comes to him in the night, breath hot against his ear, and says, “can we keep them?” 

Geralt wants to keep Jaskier at arm’s length. His dæmon has other ideas. Jaskier and his dæmon are made of sterner stuff than they look.

Marked - 1k - teen

He’s contemplating whether he has time for a quick shave when he catches a blur of movement in the looking glass, “…And here I was, beginning to wonder if you’d lost interest now that you’d finally found your way between my legs.”

It’s difficult to tell how well his joke lands, considering that Geralt’s sense of humor is warped on the best of days, but he chalks it up as a tentative ‘not well’ as molten amber eyes rake over his frame and a soft voice murmurs, “You should still be in bed.”

Jaskier raises an eyebrow, “In case you didn’t notice, there’s not much of a bed for me to stay in.” He sighs, “What even happened last night, anyhow? I remember the important bits－,” he hurries to amend, “but… did we really break the bed?”

Geralt shakes his head, “I broke the bed.” His hands are clenching and unclenching at his sides, his eyes nervously flitting over every exposed inch of Jaskier’s body.

Maybe Time Running out is a Gift - 8k - teen

He knows Geralt loves him because there is no other explanation for the way he holds Jaskier, like he’s something gentle and treasured, like he’s precious. But he also knows Geralt is not human. Geralt has lived more than twice as long as Jaskier, and will live on for possibly centuries more. And, unlike Yennefer, Jaskier cannot be there with him forever.

You know, I'm not normally a huge fic reader (I know, I'm weird!) but I actually consumed a TON of Geraskier fics after I started shipping them. The only thing is because I'm kind of late to the fandom, most of the fics I've read are better known (as that's where I've had to start). Sorry if the recs aren’t that groundbreaking, but I’m always happy to note some stories that I love.

I love basically any Geraskier work by sospes (ao3), in particular To Sleep Perchance To, The Public Perception of the Barding Profession, The Song of the White Wolf, and Unspoken. Note the warnings on these fics, some of them deal with noncon.

I adored The Painter by United where Geralt tries to track down Jaskier after he hears a new song by our favorite bard. The song itself is so lovely and just the fic in general is a huge joy to read, and the scene where Geralt hears Jaskier play the song in person lives in my head rent free.

The One My Soul Cries Out For by @whispered-story. This is a great soulmate AU and really recommend it for anyone who wants to be kicked in the stomach by a fic. I also really liked their fics Yet Always Back Returning to Those First Feelings and The Hand of Destiny That Was Guiding Us Together.

The Witcher Wolf and the companion The Witcher Wolf 2: Geralt's POV by @im-fairly-whitty​ were a really fun read. Not a trope I expected to love so much, but Geralt as a nice wolf is absolutely adorable.

I honestly had never heard of Hanahaki disease until this fandom, but surprisingly loved several of the fics I read with that: A Dandelion By Any Other Name by @asmolbirb, Fill My Lungs (With Sweetness) by WednesdaysDaughter (ao3), and Bearing the will of the flower by Solshine (ao3).

 A Blessing, A Curse by aileenrose (ao3) is an awesome fic that explores Jaskier leaving on the mountain as if it were a djinn wish, and man does it HURT for a bit. I also really love Another Time, Again which is an amazing amnesia fic where Jaskier tries to help Geralt recover his memories.

Truth of The Heart by CosmicOcelot (ao3) explores post 01x06 while diving into “missing moments” from Jaskier and Geralt’s travels together, all while Geralt works to save Jaskier from an incubus who has stolen his memories. It’s really poignant and well done.

Want a cute fix-it fic about Jaskier and Geralt making up and going to the coast? Then I think you’ll love Though I Try Not To by @drowningbydegrees.

An ode to Valdo Marx by Beginte (ao3) showcases Geralt parkouring to the worst possible conclusions like a champ. I love silly misunderstandings that get resolved quickly and end happily, and this fic delivers.

I love so many of the Geraskier fics by lesdemonium (winnerstick) (ao3), particularly My Heart, I'd Be the Choiceless Hope, and Everything.

Oidhche (Night) by darkmagess (ao3) is a difficult fic because it address the aftermath of a brutal noncon assault, but the writing is gorgeous and it’s very much worth reading.

home is nowhere, therefore you by @et-in-arkadia is a lovely fairytale style fic that features True Love’s Kiss, and I love it.

Hi anon, I most certainly do! Thanks so much for sending this ask, I was super excited when I saw it because I’m always happy to celebrate short fics - they could use more appreciation! I’ve wanted to do a proper shorts reclist for a while so I indulged myself and went big, hope you don’t mind! Hello there! Oof this was hands down one of the hardest lists I’ve ever made. Angst can be so so subjective and I second guessed my picks for a long time, until I said “fuck it” and decided to include all stories that speak the most to me. I’ve read lots of angst over the years but these are the ones that come to mind when someone says “buckets of angst”.

I’m naming this list “angst with a (in 98% of the cases) happy ending” 😂 all of these hurt damn good and have lots of pining. I tried to include different flavors of angst too, so that everyone can find something for their tastes. And I left a few suggestions at the end - of fics that didn’t quite work for me but might be someone else’s jam. Hopefully I did a decent job. Enjoy!

Hello everyone! I’m back for my (omg time flies) third yearly drarry rec list, in which I share with you my 30 favorite drarry fics I read in the year, divided in three parts. What a year 2020 was. It was challenging, scary and confusing, and it was also an amazing reading year for me, I read so, so much more than I ever had before, and I’m really excited to share these masterpieces with you! FAVORITE FICS I READ IN 2020 PART ONE

1. Who we are in the shadows - @quicksilvermaid - 100k - E - What happens when you’re forced to become the very thing you despise? Ex-Auror Harry Potter, tossed out of the Ministry for something he had no control over, has been looking for a way back to his former life. When he comes across Draco Malfoy in the criminal underbelly of Wizarding London and in need of protection, Harry figures bringing him in to face the Ministry’s justice is his ticket back to everything he’s lost. But nothing is exactly as it seems. Not even Harry himself. And as he gets drawn further and further into Malfoy’s world of honour and deception he finds himself questioning everything he thought he knew—about his childhood nemesis, the Ministry job he misses so much, and most of all, about himself. What happens when you’re forced to see that you were wrong?

THIS FIC!!! It was the first one I read in 2020, and it immediately became my favorite fic of the entire year, and one of my favorites of all time. I have since read it two more times, the entire 100k of it. There are absolutely no words to describe how amazing it is, how much it floored me to read their characterizations, their jobs and the roads life took them on to end up where they end up, the connection between them in a time when they don’t even know how to relate to anyone, their sorrow and struggles which, despite being so rooted in the magical world, are painfully human, just… wow. It’s a masterpiece. It changed the way I view their characters, forever, and I suspect I will read it many, many more times in the years to come. It’s that kind of story. If for whatever reason you haven’t read it, this is your sign to take that chance and embark on this amazing journey.

Remus had his head in Lily’s lap, the TV on a commercial break from the All-Stars game, when there was a knock at the door. Remus’ head ached, but he raised it anyway at the delusional thought that it might be Sirius, despite knowing exactly where he was. He remembered a similar knock, one that had actually revealed Sirius, who had fallen straight into his arms. And Remus had been there for him.

“Do you want me to get it?” Lily asked gently, her hands in Remus’ hair.

“I will,” Remus sighed, and sat up, rubbing his eyes. “Sorry that’s probably not a comfortable position for you and the baby.”

James appeared from the kitchen, wiping his hands on a towel. “Do you want me to get it?”

“I’ll do it,” Remus smiled a little, standing. “Thanks for getting the dishes, Pots, really.”

“No problem,” James shrugged.

Another knock sounded and Remus called out that he was coming.

“Probably just one of those salespeople,” Remus sighed as he turned the lock. “Someone always falls for it and lets them in—”

Remus’ words died in his mouth in surprise.

Finn sent him a hesitant smile from the other side of the door, Leo mirroring it.

“Sup, Loops,” Finn said.
