BUT THERE WERE OTHER PEOPLE in my situationship reality,, or a ( 464 words: ~1:40 min read ) excerpt about Tommy confessing the true scale of his feelings for me, as written for a tiktok edit [ FOUND HERE ]

“TOMMY, YOU’RE TELLING ME how much you’ve wanted me, but…” I pause to look away as I chew on my lip. When I drop it, I don’t have the stomach to look back as I tell him, “…there were other people.”

He responds as if he didn’t even need to think about it, or maybe like he knew where I was going before I could finish, “There were other people, sure, but none of them had a vice grip on my mind like you did.”

I suck in a breath. Despite his preaching of how great hypothetical exclusivity would be. I didn’t really expect him to imply that he’s been… what? Obsessed with me for months? And long before our forced seperation by Sam?

It’s insane to think about. My mind can’t really understand how that’s been the case for this long, and I share as such, “You didn’t really strike me as the crushing type at any point early on in our… situation.”

Tommy groans as his back hits the couch cushions, “That’s because I didn’t realize it at that time.”

I raise my eyebrow at him as he looks at me from under his eyelashes with his head resting on the back of the couch, “I don’t think you get how much I truly couldn’t stop thinking of you.”

I feel my eyebrows shoot up, but he’s not looking at me anymore. Instead his eyes focus ahead of him, towards his kitchen.

“Everytime I was with another person, I thought of you instead. Everytime I was by myself, I wondered what we’d do if you were there with me.”

Tommy runs his hands down his face, pulling at the skin. “And those few months I had absolutely zero contact with you, and you iced me out if we were anywhere near each other.

“I thought about you the most I ever had before. When I was with other hooks ups, or our mutual friends, and even at the places we used to go to together.”

His eyes find mine again, then he practically rolls them away from me with a groan, before saying, “I don’t know how I could be stupid enough to not realize it sooner.”

He sits up straight then grabs my hand, and with all of the feelings he’s spewed it makes me want to rip it from his grasp, but I can’t bring myself to. “I’ve wanted this longer than I knew I did.”

I look down at our hands, staring hard at the way his thumb caresses mine, “Jesus christ, Tommy,” I mumble.

“Mm,” he hums, “It’s insane, I know.” He flashes a smile at me, meant to ease the tension. And I hate how quick and easy it works. Because I’m smiling again as I watch him kiss the top of my hand, and feel his lips trek their way up my arm.

MY GUILT in my brother’s best friend reality,, or a ( 644 word: 2:20 min read ) diary entry about my feelings on my current relationship for @withluvvenus’ emotions shiftblr activity!!

I LOVE HIM I SWEAR. I love Grant so so fucking much. He means so much to me. He brings me so much joy. And he is a person I can’t help but adore in his entirety. He’s so beautiful inside and out. How could anyone not love him? And how could I not love him enough? He’s my boyfriend, yet I feel like it’s so terrible to him to put him in this unfair relationship. I tell him that often, he tells me he understands, he knew what he was getting himself into. But I still feel so fucking guilty.

Just because he went into this relationship knowing I was in love with another man. Knowing that we may not last. It doesn’t mean I’m absolved of the gut wrenching fucking guilt stewing in me. Because my inability to focus on him, my habit of feeling just a bit empty, or a bit lacking; it is not a fault of his. It’s all my doing. I’m the one that is limiting our relationship. Our happiness. All because I can’t get over another damn man.

It’s not fair to him. And I try to focus on our relationship, to ignore everything. I started to think if I ignored Tommy’s existence enough my feelings of about three years will disappear. They have to. Because I’m happy. I have someone I love, who loves me. That’s all I need. There’s nothing else that I should need. Except my body, my mind, and my heart yearns for someone who isn’t mine. Who will never be mine. And who isn’t Grant. And it’s disgusting. I’m disgusted with myself.

But I’m also angry. At Tommy sometimes. But mostly myself. How can I not get over one stupid fucking man. How can I be hung up on someone for this fucking long. How can I not bring myself to be happy and content with a man who is so fucking perfect. Who I can almost imagine a life with. And it seems so perfect, that life. Something like that should be enough to overpower a stupid childish crush. A love like the love I have for Grant should be e-fuckinh-nough and it’s just not. And I hate myself for it.

No matter how many times Grant tells me it’s okay. I can’t help but feel like the monster trapping him in a loveless relationship. Even though I know I love him, and that I’m pretty sure I’ve loved him from the moment we first met. And even though I’ve suggested breaking up, with my brutally honest reasons, and he refused. So, I’m not trapping him in anything loveless, I can break out of my spiralling to recognize that. That he is willing, and he knows he is loved. I just wish knowing that was enough for me not to feel like a goddamn monster.

The good thing about Grant is that he doesn’t let me dwell in my negativity on our relationship. He’s dating me knowing it may not last because he knows it can make us happy while it does. And he does make me happy. He can distract me so easily. He can make me smile just with a look in his eye. He knows exactly what to say. And we’ve only known each other for what? A couple months? This man is one of my soulmates, I know it. Even if it’s not romantic. Because I don’t think it can be anymore. I could hold on to him forever if the universe allowed it. But I can’t keep doing this to him. No matter how much he says that he signed up for this. He doesn’t deserve this. He doesn’t deserve a heart that isn’t fully his. I can love him all I want. But as long as Tommy Shepherd exists, my love will never be the love Grant deserves.

I’M HEARING THE SCRATCH OF Theo’s pencil on paper as I pretend to scroll through my phone next to him on his bed.

I’m not focusing on any of the posts I’m scrolling past, too caught up on my inner debate over whether my question is important enough to disrupt his precious study time.

I swallow the lump in my throat as I set my phone down.

“Hey, uh, I have a question.”

I watch his head rise to look at me, and his brows are furrowed with a worry that makes me realize he heard the waver and vulnerability in my tone.

He sets his pencil on his notebook and pushes it to the side, “What’s up?” he asks while he shifts his legs underneath him and rests his chin on his knee to look at me.

“I— uhm…” I have to look away from him with the way he’s looking at me, “This is a stupid question, in all honesty,” I ramble.

Theo chuckles, then tells me, “I like stupid questions,” in a way that almost sounds like flirting and it makes my nerves flutter around in my gut at the familiar tone.

I take another deep breath and spew out as many words as I can after telling myself to, ‘spit it out’ before something worse comes back up to join them.

“Am I the only person you’re seeing?”

My eyes found him again towards the tail end of the question. And I watch his own grow two times their size and avert away from me. While his cheeks and ears grow a dusting of pink, from what I can tell.

He let’s out an awkward sort of a laugh as his hands play with the hem of his pant leg. “I mean…” he tugs on a loose thread and it snaps off, “…yeah. How much play did you think I got before you?”

My heart jumps in my chest at that, “I uh… I didn’t really—” then his answer replays in my head, and I interrupt my own self, “Wait, so I’m the only one?”

He reaches forward and pushes at my forehead, “I already said yes, weirdo.”

SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND. Bright colors! Bright colors everywhere! Neon and hot! A recipe for attracting attention yet somehow I hate it, and can’t manage to garner much of it even when I want it. A summer fling managed to catch some interest, but absolutely zero of the feelings I wanted him to. Though maybe me hating attention rubs off on the energy the universe gives me. What you put out is what you receive, yadda yadda. So it’s just accidental backfiring manifestation. Though there is one lucky guy who broke free from the indifference spell that had been cast on any eligible man at UCLA. Thomas Dean Shepherd. A real piece of work. But also so fucking fine, and so kind, creative, and passionate. He’s truly a firecracker. You’d almost expect him to be in my colors like he was an example of aposematism, or warning coloration. As if he’s a poison dart frog communicating his danger—intensity—to the animals—people—around him. And despite what should repel me, I feel magnetized to him. I feel like a stupid fucking bee confusing his bright colors for a flower and getting pulled into his trap. Not sure I can share any regret on the matter. I’m happy where I am now: in a fake relationship with the most entertaining and enjoyable presence I have ever had the privilege to know and experience.

oh, to spend your early twenties on the town, but not having to worry who you're going home with. perfection. && it's even better when your boy likes going out with you. i know, i know, i'm gloating! but it's tooooo good.

the very short tldr is yes of course i dragged the batfam into my multiverse. i love them very dearly && couldn't ask for a better mega-family. but the longer answer is my relationships with each of them changes with each twist && turn of my realities. sometimes i have no clue who they are. other times they don't exist.

this will be a long-ish post because i want to go through each reality && describe my relationship with each of them . . . sorry for that!

college realities | hockey romance && home

hockey romance @ gotham university , as you can probably guess, has the batfam. except they are not vigilantes there. just one big happy dysfunctional family put together by bruce wayne && a ton of adoption papers. yet the only person i know besides jason is roy.

⊹ roy harper ; he is the most chaotic && disastrous person i have everrrrr met. it honestly confuses me a little how him && jason are not only roommates but best friends. he is the definition of the guy friend you keep around because he's really funny yet he also makes you worry . . . like a lot. it'll be okay though. he might settle down soon?

home @ university of cincinnati , does not have the batfam. although, jason's father is almost as rich as bruce wayne! don't make me bring up the two yachts again . . . i will never understand it. n e wayss jason has two younger brothers in this reality && one older brother. they are entirely based off of dick , tim , && damian . i won't share the drama of his family because it does not feel like my information to tell ( it's wild. willlddddd. ), but it means i do not see much of his brothers unfortunately.

⊹ richard ' dick ' todd ; the most i see of him is on his instagram. he's got a pretty fiancée with curly red hair. && he has lived in chicago for almost four years ( ? ). he moved there right after college and comes home for some holidays and stuff. he is very nice && always texts me about the videos i post on youtube.

⊹ timothy ' tim ' todd ; i genuinely never see him. jason && i have been together for almost five years and i can count on one hand the amount of instances i have seen tim. he's always off doing . . . ? god knows what that boy is doing. when i do see him he's very sweet to me while making fun of jason.

⊹ damian todd ; for the longest time i thought he didn't like me. he was standoffish && always glaring. don't worry though, a few ice cream trips and art stores later we are quite close. he loves to text me to make sure jason ' isn't bothering me too much '. i have to remind damian that i unfortunately love his brother && just have to deal with him ' bothering me '.

comic book realities | the arrow && the flash

the arrow , the only reality where i am technically a part of the batfam. being bruce wayne's second eldest child && his biggest hater. y'know how it goes when you're too much like your parent so you end up fighting all the time? yeah, it's that. it's fine. whatever. sooo i grew up with everyone before i leave gotham at eighteen && try to leave the wayne name behind.

⊹ richard ' dick ' todd ; my goated older brother. he has been more of a helicopter parent than bruce. he gets stressed out if he doesn't know where i'm going or what i'm doing. love him to death but he could be a little overbearing when i was younger. we're all good now though. he has come to terms with me being a full adult!

⊹ jason todd ; okay so he did not live with us consistently growing up, because he was not actually adopted by bruce. but when he was in the manor we became very good childhood friends. i was a little too busy focusing on going into high school for me to pay attention to him ( he's two years younger than me ). by the time the incident happened he was fifteen && i was seventeen. i would only see him again a few years later in starling city after he became the arkham knight.

⊹ timothy ' tim ' drake ; my relationship with him is anther case of me being a little too focused on myself so i am not really close to him. && around the time he was adopted i was already planning my escape from gotham.

⊹ damian wayne ; my dearest baby brother. of course when we were growing up i took his side with everything to piss our dad off. he even tried to pick up a bow ( my signature weapon as a vigilante ) even though he is proficient in swordsmanship. i make him send me updates on what he's doing over in gotham. it tends to be photo dumps of his drawings && his animal finds.

the flash , the batfam does exist, just without jason. he is not related to them or adopted by bruce. he grew up in central city, then became a smarty pants quantum physicist. the batfam lives in gotham city && the batman is considered a ' myth ' of sorts. i have no connection to them until further on when the justice league is founded && i finally meet bat && co.

gotham realities | bookstore owner && gotham vigilante

bookstore owner , i live in the heart of gotham && jason is red hood so the batfam does exist, i just have yet to meet them. simply because i don't even know jason very well when i start hardcore crushing on him.

gotham vigilante , this reality && my relationships to the batfam are almost identical to my the arrow reality except jason grew up in selina's care. we became childhood friends / rivals while batman && catwoman were doing their whole thing.

⊹ fun fact! jason's family is extremely loaded. they have two yachts. two. for absolutely no reason. anyways they also have a giant lake house. like six bedrooms && three family rooms. i don't know why it's so big. but there's usually four to six of us who go out there a few times during the summer. we always get very very messed up && wake up with pounding headaches only for us to do it all over again.

ⓘ SWIMMING AND TRAVELING, one answer is specific the other broad, but they’re both very important summer activities to me. The goal is that every place I travel to has some place for me to swim; beaches, pools, lakes, creeks, or rivers. If it’s safe to swim in, I’m in it. But also I just enjoy experiencing different cultures and countries. As much as I like staying home with family and loved ones during THE SUMMER BREAKS we get in Formula One, staying in one place too long when I have the opportunity to travel—especially when I get sent a pretty place on earth by Layla on tiktok—I just itch to leave and start getting restless where I am.

Traveling has always been APART OF MY FAMILY’S LIFE so not visiting other countries and exploring outside of my own is something I can’t accept. If I have to do it by myself, I will. But I enjoy traveling more with loved ones, whether that’s friends or family. I’ve dragged Layla with me on occasion, especially when I wanted to sneak a trip in between race weeks. I’ve attempted to drag Jason with me. And I’m currently too scared to ask Tommy if he’d like to start joining me again, because we have traveled in the past.

˚˖𓍢ִ໋🛳️˚ CRUISIN’ ON ˎˊ˗ is there a certain place you love to visit during the summer holidays? or a dream destination? with company, or alone?

ⓘ THE SOUTH OF FRANCE!! Always always always the south of France. When we get our month long summer break during the Formula One season, I love to visit my family in Marseille, and the other towns my more extended family are scattered in. I enjoy inviting my friends to come visit, so they can see just how beautiful this place is, big cities, small communes, tourist destinations, all of it. I once tested the waters and tried INVITING TOMMY TO VISIT because I thought he’d say no, and then he said, “I’d love to,” and shocked me by trying to get all the details sorted as soon as possible.

I think if there were other places I wanted to go, it’d probably be ITALY AND PERU. Peru could be considered random but there’s a lot there that is so beautiful and rich in culture and just interesting. And Italy is the home of two of my closer friends in Formula One. Jason being born there, and Layla having family there, so I’m waiting for them to invite me to visit. I’ll #MANIFEST it don’t worry.

ⓘ TRUMPETS BY JASON DERULO is my summer anthem in all realities I fear. There’s nothing inherently summer about it. But when I think about what summer used to feel like when I was younger; free, weightless, on top of the world, and on cloud nine… I feel that when I listen to this song. It’s not the lyrics. It’s the music, the tune, the instrumentals, and the way Jason Derulo sings this goddamn song. His voice is another instrument to me that, when put together with every other aspect of this song, I feel that optimism I had as a young kid. It feels like happiness when I listen to it. It’s so strange how much I genuinely feel complete and utter joy when listening to it. And when I do listen to it, I NEED to hear it either loud in my headphones, or loud in my cars speakers to where everyone is else can hear the music too.

I ANNOY THE EVER LOVING HELL out of Layla and Jason with this song, though. I’ll add it like 5+ times in the spotify queue when I go out with each of them once summer hits. That song is scattered around the other songs and it gets on their nerves. TOMMY doesn’t mind it as much because he lowkey loves the song too and gets why I love it so much. He gets me… 😔😔🫰 But also he just has the similar habit of listening to a song over and over again, and he likes almost any song, so it doesn’t bother him much.

THE ONLY ONE in me and Tommy’s families who didn’t notice how me and Tommy felt about each other was my damn brother. Which is insane because he’s always in my damn business being overprotective over the shit I do and the people I’m seeing.

The good news is that Seb ( my bruhva ) doesn’t really care. WHEN HE FINDS OUT about Tommy’s feelings for me after I ghost Tommy for a couple days and he interrogates the poor man about his piss poor attitude. He’s more upset that Tommy didn’t tell him during the two years he’s been in love with me more than anything. His acceptance has the kind of logic of, “Well if I can trust anyone with my sister it’s the man who’s been overprotective of her by my side all her life.” So there’s no betrayal from Seb’s side of things, he just doesn’t want to be involved in the drama that may or may not go down between us.

MY PARENTS saw this coming a mile away. Probably around middle school I feel is when they started sussing out that something was different in our relationship. Not that it was inherently romantic. But there was a deep care and almost adoration from both of us, that if we continued on the path we were on, our relationship wasn’t really going to go anywhere but towards romantic feelings. TOMMY’S PARENTS caught on a little later, but only because my parents brought it up to them to which they were like, “Ehhh I don’t know.” Only for my parents to be like, “Pay close attention tonight, you’ll see what we mean.” And then bam, they were in agreeance. And it DIDN’T TAKE EITHER OF THEM long to spot when both Tommy and I officially caught feelings for each other.

Our parents DIDN’T REALLY HAVE PROBLEMS with us liking each other or even getting together. But they weren’t like Conrad Fisher’s mom level of excited either, planning weddings and shit. They were just like, “This is like any other committed relationship for our children.” Was it a bit for meaningful considering our family’s friendship, yeah! And did our moms like the idea of me and Tommy making our families one big one when things got serious, of fucking course. Our mom’s were already fucking sisters in their eyes… in the non-weirdest way for me and Tommy lmaooo 😭😭😭 No but the only thing was, THEY WERE SOMEWHAT WORRIED about any possible aftermath for us and them in case of a breakup or something. But they also believed we had such a strong foundation of 18+ years of friendship they didn’t think it would be a problem.

BILLY ( TOMMY’S TWIN BROTHER ) didn’t need to be told that Tommy felt a certain way about me. When he noticed how Tommy was behaving around me or about me, he figured out Tommy’s crush. At first he lowkey thought it was a little weird. But by the next day he didn’t really see it that way anymore. He realized that there really wasn’t a difference in the way Tommy loved me pre and post crush after seeing Tommy interact with me that next day. Billy got a rush of nostalgia seeing that interaction and was just like, “Oh, no, he’s just always been like this with her and everyone here’s idiots.”

And he GENUINELY UNDERSTANDS how Tommy got to where he was with his feelings for me. Billy is 100% gay, but he also grew up around me for 18+ years, he knows me almost just as well as Tommy. And he knows I’m a fucking amazing, genuine kind, beautiful—inside and out—person. Billy is no where near attracted to me is what I’m trying to say. But he knows I’m the type of girl he planned on making a speech for at my wedding to let whoever know how lucky they are and threaten them to treat me right. But with Tommy he doesn’t have to do all that shit. Because Tommy already knows he’d be lucky to have me, and he’d punish his own self if he didn’t treat me right before anyone else could get the chance. And Billy knew that. So ultimately he accepted the fact of his brother’s feelings and moved on keeping his mouth shut. As for MY FEELINGS, Billy just thought I looked up to Tommy for the longest time. Until he observed clear changes in how my eyes sparkled around Tommy. And he also noticed how much my overall mood shifted when Tommy got a girlfriend. After I ran out of the Shepherd penthouse when Tommy brought his girlfriend around when I was there he knew. He felt bad for me because he noticed my feelings before Tommy’s and thought it would end up being unreciprocated. He was glad he was wrong, and wanted to play matchmaker so goddamn bad. But he also knew me and that I would actually probably murder him if he got involved.

during the second month of whatever the hell the two got themselves into, a rumor started: ‘ did you hear layla got with ethan last weekend? ‘ ‘ yeah, it was at jayden’s party. ‘ ‘ wait i heard she got with myles, not ethan. ‘

not only had she not gotten with ethan or myles, but she had also spent her entire weekend at jason’s apartment. this fact did not keep jason from being completely upset by the accusation and not texting her for a whole five days. only being forced to confront his feelings after she cornered him at some party . . .

“what’s wrong with you?” she didn’t bother beating around the bush. she had been surrounded by men who avoided telling the truth && always hid behind it. she would not keep this boy around if he chose to do the same.

in my formula one reality i go to my mother whenever i find myself stressed out about things. i may be an adult woman there but i feel im never too old to go to my mama for comfort. i know she will give me amazing advice and will listen to whatever issue i have. i also know that my mother would never attempt to make the problem worse!

i think monaco would be a nice place to visit during the summer. especially because it rarely gets over eighty—five (american) degrees there. as for company i believe it would be nice to have company a couple days after a solo trip. having a couple days there by myself allows to me stroll around and drag my feet around the city you know? hanging out with others is fun though, i love the idea of going out with close friends and maybe my boyfriend to try out new restaurants.
