Get Naked! It’s Fun!

Here's the thing, though.

Naturist Tumblr says things like "naturism isn't about perfect bodies" and "every body is a good body" and "naturism isn't sexual" and while all of these are true things to say about actual IRL naturism, they are eminently not true about Naturist Tumblr.

And yes, I'm talking about the ones who come along and leave gross sexual comments in the notes. Yes, I'm talking about the ones who reblog naturist photos in between pictures of people using sex toys. Yes, I'm talking about the ones who use tags like "natural bewbs" and "huge titts".

But I'm also talking about the ones who put "NATURISM IS NOT PORN" in their bios and then go on about "natural beauty" all over the place. I'm talking about the ones who leave obnoxious little cookie-cutter captions on every reblog -- the same sentence, over and over and over and over and over -- so there's always a link back to their blog.

I'm talking about how, despite naturism "not being about perfect bodies", every naturist blog is slim young able-bodied cis woman after slim young able-bodied cis woman after slim young able-bodied cis woman.

Yes, I'm talking about the person who messaged me to ask how big my penis was, but I'm also talking about the person who messaged me to remark on the similarity of our "preferences". I do not choose which photos to reblog on the basis of my "preferences". I include people whom I personally find attractive and people whom I don't, and I leave out people whom I personally find attractive and people whom I don't.

(Chiefly, since there is such a huge preponderance of photos of slim young able-bodied cis women in Naturist Tumblr, I try to avoid reblogging those photos at all so as to redress the balance.)

And increasingly I'm talking about AI.

I have seen some truly appalling AI-generated nudes. Extra fingers isn't the half of it; there was one of a woman whose legs joined up to each other in a triangle.

I've also seen some subtle AI-generated nudes, and probably some have slipped past my watch and gotten into my blog despite my efforts to spot them before I queue them.

But what I've noticed particularly recently is photos where most of the picture is unmistakably real, but someone has come along and specifically gotten AI to make the penises longer or the breasts a particular standardized shape.

You cannot do that and maintain that "naturism is not about perfect bodies"; it's transparent hypocrisy.

Look, if all you care about, as a naturist, is the freedom to get naked, you cannot have that and also sexualize the nudity. People don't like being sexualized when they're just doing their thing; and since most of us are more attracted to some bodies than others, as soon as the nudity becomes sexual the body judgement comes back. If the nudity becomes sexual it will go back behind closed doors. You can't have it both ways.

And if you do actually believe in body freedom and body positivity and getting rid of negative body image, if there is any sincerity in that part of your philosophy, then idealized AI-generated nudes are the one thing that will destroy that faster than the media's obsession with "perfect" bodies.
