oh wow

- was the only one to get an A the first grading period. had to stop them from putting me on their shoulders

- became the official classroom mascot on account of i was the only girl. this meant i was an integral stop on any and all workshop tours. was referred to as “Our Lady Helena” on these occasions

- almost set myself on fire once bc my prof stood behind me watching me try a skill he’d just demonstrated and he shouted very suddenly very loudly. restarted my heart and asked WTF WAS THAT FOR JOHN and he called me a “goddamn wonder”. i almost got third degree burned over a compliment

- mentioned offhand ONE TIME that swords were cool. also mentioned my birthday offhand ONE TIME. one of The Guys remembered both instances and also happened to find a sword in a dumpster so he gave it to me for my birthday

- came in fifth in an arm wrestling competition

- french braided my hair in class bc i didn’t have time to do it beforehand. ended up with an audience of like 5+ guys trying to figure out how tf i was doing it

- told The Guys my college friends call me barbie. Mistake. suddenly had all 12 of them calling me Barbarian

- had some down time and made a silly little sculpture with some scraps. The Guys were endlessly intrigued by this and demanded to see some of my art school stuff. had a small crowd around my phone cheering loudly every time i swiped to a new picture

- accidentally mentioned the cafe i worked at. Mistake. several days later all 12 of them came in to bother me

Rudo's ability is to touch objects' souls and bring out their full potential, but he has chronic pain in his hands; his touch has not hurt, but pain can desensitize you to all other emotions, and so he doesn’t know how people think or feel, only what an object needs to be.

Amos's ability brings to mind happy memories and memories of love, but she has not been fortunate enough to have happy memories. She has never felt truly, honestly loved and protected.

Gountess’s ability is to connect others, but he isolated himself. He was born with a faulty heart, and that includes the emotional one. He has cut off his emotions for so long to focus on his goal. He only realized the problem when it was much too late.

Tamsy’s ability alters perception and memories and because of that no one sees him, no one knows his true nature, no one really knows who Tamsy is even the audience is left partially in the dark but it’s clear he knows his world view is different from everyone elses he can never be open and honest because his personality is so reprehensible that he’d never be able to complete his goal. He wouldn’t be able to be who he is inside and get close to Rudo.

Zodyl's abilities are still a mystery, but with the little pieces we know about him, and how he seems to be associated with the sense of taste, we can assume the ability uses food in some way we don’t know about yet. It hungers, but Zodyl only wants revenge, and then he is nothing; he’s a husk of a man. He will never be sated.

So, with that in mind, I’m really curious about what the next chapter is and how Enjin, if he is a watchman user, fits into this. The chapter title The Sixth Sense and what little we know about Enjin leads me to believe that he represents intuition, and his fatal flaw of sorts is his ability to read the situation, but he is always unknowable.

I think with the head wound we see Enjin have, I think he may have like actual chunks of time missing from his past. Pair that with the fact he doesn’t really know who his parents are, and other things make me believe Enjin doesn’t really understand who he is as a person, and because of that, no one else knows what’s going on with him either. He’s always withdrawn and always a mystery that’s hard to read and parse out, and because of that, no one has been able to connect with him, but that’s just my guess for now.

Either way it’s fantastic writing and I love Urana for doing it.

Like, I know people say the Watchmen fill the holes within people's souls, almost like the Watchmen are the givers, and their users are the Jinki. It's just really cool and interesting.

Tries hard on shielding you from his Raider business (you're aware of what he does, just not the fullest extent of it)

The most nonchalant man you'd ever met—you had to memorise every twitch of his facial muscle to learn what he is feeling

"Honey, are you feeling down?" "...Yes. How did you know, darling?" "I saw your jaw clench."

Likewise, he has you memorised as well. He knows what you want or need even before the mere thought could form in your head. Trust that he also have your schedule planted in his mind too

Even though he wants to wear his wedding band on his finger, he fears of losing it during missions or—heaven forbid—an enemy spots it and learns about you

He limits the Raider's interactions with you—a firm believer of work-life balance (ONLY in relation to you though)

"Hey, Boss! Can we meet your spouse again—" "No. And if you ask again, I'll kill you."

He always make sure to properly cleanse his mouth before going home to you. Once, he forgotten and tried to kiss you, only to be coldly rejected

"Darling... why did you push me away? Do you not love me anymore? Am I not your husband anymore?" "Honey, you're being dramatic again. I just know you haven't cleaned that mouth of yours." "I failed as your husband. I apologise deeply—"

Loves going on errands with you. Grocery runs, morning walks, or even gift-shopping, he'll be glued to your side all the time

When you two walk, he’s always making sure you’re on the safer side of the street. He doesn’t have an arm wrapped around you, but his eyes are always searching for potential threats

Once, you tried to host a homemade meal to the Raiders. He allowed it (he cannot say no to you) but instantly deflated when all of them left

"Honey... you're pouting again." "I am not..." "Yes, you are. Don't tell me you're jealous?" "Nonsense. There is nothing to be jealous about. I am your husband—they are no one."

No one is allowed to mention your existence when they are out on missions—he will know if you were exposed

He brings you fake flowers every time he gets home even a second too late. He murmurs apologies in your ear as he brings you close for a hug

"Darling, I've missed you deeply. I apologise for being late, something came up with our missions." "It's alright, honey. Welcome back home!"

He swears up and down that once he destroys the Sphere, he'll bring you somewhere close to finally see a starry night sky

"I will clear the sky for the stars to shine for you, [Name]."
