Oh by the way - you know how I've been taking a weekly kpop dance class for the past year or so?
Girl dances in kpop is so much about making pretty angles with your body at the right time, including wrist and finger details. I do make an effort, but the angles rarely come out very pretty, so I took to assuming the beautiful girl idols pull it off because they have those pretty, elfin-fairy bodies to begin with, but then Mingi is like, Bitch don't be stupid, and hits the same angles with the same delicacy with his giant muscular male body.
Well OK. I'm SORRY. I didn't realize, okay? You didn't have to come and step on my neck about it, Song Mingi. Jeez.
... I was going to say something more but I forgot. I'm sure you understand.
This is a continuation of last week's episode. Are they going to be able to bargain their way up the snack tiers or are we just seeing if they can make it to the second tier of snacks, which is currently as high as they can possibly go, and get some hamburgers?
First up today is a relay bottle flip. Awwwww Soobin got it on the first try, much to his own surprise, and was told that's not how it goes in the game. Let the guy have this one thing! So they all have to do it in order from Beomgyu to Taehyun and they can try three times. Beomgyu get's it right off! No! you have to say "I'll start" first. The staff are back to being difficult when they're already doing so badly? Beomgyu's second attempt falls over and he tells them to put it in slow motion. I mean. He had it for like a tenth of a second.
Oooooh Yeonjun is initiating the deal this time. The producer decides if 3/5 get it they pass, but they have to choose which three members will try beforehand and they only get one chance. Taehyun fails. Back to the board! "I love that our members are so cool about this." That's true, they are mostly chill about failing. They don't seem super competitive, because if they were at least one of them would have been murdered by now.
AAAAAHAHAA!!! They pulled water bottle flip again! Yeonjun jumps right on making a bargain before they even start! If twoooo members make it can it be a success? Yes. Yeonjun also asks if all 5 can try this time with puppy eyes and is shot down. Yeonjun and Beomgyu are chosen to try this time and Yeonjun fails. Back to the board.
For the next challenge one person has one minute to get dressed according to a given dress code. The producers choose Soobin to be the contestant. Soobin asks why him and Taehyun says Soobin has failed the least amount of times. Last episode was a long time ago for me, so I don't know if this is accurate, but I appreciate the attempt at morale boosting. These boys are nice.
The dress code is airport fashion and Soobin complains that he is not good at stylish fashion. He is scanning the closet hanging above their heads as the members suggest some clothes. Beomgyu suggests a certain coat, but Soobin unfortunately left it in the practice studio. Soobin throws on a hoodie and pajama pants, claiming that he is shooting for comfortable when sleeping on the plane. The editor adds hoodie Soobin into actual airport pictures so we can fully appreciate his work.
Soobin has to choose if he would actually wear this to the airport to determine if this is a win. They need 6 more points to get the next snack. He says he would do it if it was something so bad that it was clearly a penalty. Yeonjun tells him to give up. Soobin is concerned that the fans will think he is a bad dresser and everyone agrees that the pajama pants were a bad decision. He gives up.
Everyone's correct answer, where they all have to say something in a category. This one is interior accessories (decorations?) in the house. Beomgyu says cushion, which is incorrect. Okay, but what kind of cushion are we talking about?? Obviously the producer can see the rest of the dorm and I can't so they're the better judge, but I don't want it to be wrong so this was a bad call by the producer. Huening Kai asks if that can be practice (yes).
Oooooooh they change it to five appliances in the house. They're not even letting cushion be practice for interior accessories so everyone understands what it means now. Dang. The producers are being nice but also not. Beomgyu says microwave, then Soobin says gas stove and the members wail WE DON'T HAVE A STOVE!! Soobin insists that they do! Do they? How is that a question? Oooooh there's a little one still in the box under a counter/table! They do have one! Okay it makes sense that they wouldn't be sure. Wow.
AAAAAAAAAH!!!! The producer is nitpicking that he said "gas stove" and Soobin lies that noooo he just said "stove" with the straightest face. Oh my god. And then laughs. The producer asks isn't that an electric/induction stove and Beomgyu says Soobin is from the stone age and doesn't use that word. They should let them have it. They were so close with this and the cushion; two half-rights can make one whole here. They fail. Ugh.
Get dressed challenge again. Huening Kai starts begging not him like the producer was staring him down. Yeonjun is chosen, but he's not wearing a tshirt under his hoodie, so they say he can grab the clothes and change in the other room and they'll give him 2 minutes. His theme is vacation clothes. They recently got rid of all their summer clothes. Can one of these little details go right for them??! Okay he looks fine! A success at last. They also win another round of the initials game from last episode.
Current bingo card assessment: abysmal. 8 successes, 11 failures, but most of the failures were the high point value tiles. They only have single point tiles left.
Lie detector. If all of them tell the truth, pass! If they lie they win if they stand the pain. What? Oh, it's a thingy?? Like a device that will shock them or something?
Yeonjun's Question: When I was a trainee I was always in second place in the monthly evaluation? "I won first place" True!
Taehyun: I'm the most handsome member of TXT? True.
Soobin: I come from the family of Jeonju Choi? No. It's Gangneung Choi.
Huening Kai: I'm the younges member of TXT? He says no and the machine counts it as correct? What?
Beomgyu: I'm the best dancer in TXT? He says true and the machine counts that as a lie, but Beomgyu keeps a fairly straight face. I feel. Like I need to seek out some more Beomgyu focused content.
With 3 truths, 1 malfunction, and 1 obstinacy they pass the lie detector game
They really want the burgers. New game! One body one mind: If all 5 members strike the same pose to the keyword they win. Um. I really want to have faith. I do. But. One of them will be weird, I just know it. The keyword is cellphone. Everyone was texting, but Soobin was doing something one handed. a selfie? maybe? quickly joined by his other hand to text like everyone else. Dear lord I'm old; that's not what I would have done at all. I had to lay in the floor and stare at the ceiling for a minute. Anyway, are they going to accept Soobin's delayed pose? Nope.
One body one mind again, keyword: Tomorrow x Together. They get it! Yay! The relief is palpable. They acknowledge that that one was given to them and that the producers are really trying to give them burgers.
Rock paper scissors. Someone says "we'll lose, let's move on." It'll take 5 seconds dawg. Beomgyu wins! Oh they all have to win. Dang. Soobin asks the producer what he's going to play. Shameless. The producer says rock and then actually does rock! The producers really do want them to get burgers. Awww Huening Kai is so nervous. It comes down to Taehyun and he asks for recommendations, but Yeonjun says to just go. Noooo give him a recommendation so the producer can throw the result. Oh! He wins anyway! I need to see this in slow motion, but I think it was a clean win! (excluding Soobin)
They're getting burgers! They decide to do the final two challenges as "practice" for next episode. Okay this is the thing with finishing the title of hit songs. "Bad." Beomgyu says Bad Guy. The producer says no it's Bad Boy. Okay but Bad Guy is a song tooooooo. Oh they're fighting for this one. It is a hit song, just not kpop! and they start singing it. This is true, so the answer is accepted. But they lose on "Like Ooh Ahh."
Last is the pop-up pirate: Members take turns to stick 2 knives each in the barrel and if the pirate doesn't pop up they win. Soobin: "I hope he can stay still even if it hurts." Aww. They win!
The producers say they get a chance to try 3 more missions! So they are giving the boys the opportunity to reach another tier. They debate over how to get the most points/a potential bingo. Hunminjeongum, the first challenge from the last episode is tripping them up since it's in the middle and deemed too difficult to attempt. They go for everyone's correct answer, relay talking (finish the phrase), and one body one mind. They're aiming for the pizza combo.
Everyone's correct answer category is name any food that's in your house. PLEASE! We just did this earlier! They success for 3 points and I'm gonna cry! The fridge check was cute "I'm cola, I'm a tangerine, and I'm ice cream!"
This finish the phrase thing is necessary to get the two bingos. Barf. They're famous lines in tv shows or movies and Soobin is worried, but Beomgyu reassures Soobin that the producer will give them easy ones. I wouldn't have said that out loud, but maybe the producer is not like me and wouldn't take that as a reason to purposefully NOT give them easy ones. It was a little iffy with Huening Kai, but they win! It looks like he did give them easy ones. They have 31 points now!
One body one mind, keyword: Heart! Ooooh that could have gone wrong with so many heart options, but they get it! The Bingo board is changed to 15 wins 10 losses with 2 bingos! They get a tteokbokki combo, 1 burger combo for each member, and a large pizza.
Beomgyu asks if they can try hunminjeongum (can't use any loan words) while they wait for the food. The producer says if they succeed they can also have chicken. Beomgyu says they'll just be silent and Soobin says they'll just speak slowly (won't work). Producer says they must debate on the subject he gives them. Oh no. and it's mint chocolate. Shut up that's so mean!
Yeonjun slows everyone down and says they need to establish what to call it. They'll call it "that thing." They are actually talking slowly this time and it's going well. Soobin almost blows it, but catches himself and changes it to something else mid-word in a way that was not smooth at all. Huening Kai is speaking a little robotically, but hey if it works!
The producers are trying to trip all of them up with different questions like how do you take a shower. Oh they're all getting a little robotic now. "What are we filming right now?" They did so well! The producers told them if they answered this last question it would be over! They were soooooo close!!!
3 grape stickers! No chicken. Taehyun's drawing is almost completed. While eating the producers ask them what they would do if they let them change their wish. We're back to Huening Kai saying he didn't know his would be chosen. Dude. They start talking about changing it to something like Jeju island and build up to Argentina and Europe, but don't give a solid answer. The next episode looks exciting in the preview!
I really wanted to do this episode last weekend so the first episode would be fresher in my mind, but life did not allow that. I found out on Wednesday that my sister's wedding was going to be on my lawn on Saturday, then an hour before the wedding the entire thing had to be moved to inside my house because the fully-decorated wedding tents had blown away. I then tripped over the wall of ice chests in my office while helping her get ready, which led to a multitude of xrays this week to make sure I did not actually break my neck. Not to worry though! It's just whiplash and a mysteriously numb toe. Anyway, maybe I can find it within myself to do another one this weekend. And to maybe skip making a post about some of the episodes so I can catch up this century.

Regardless of the veracity of the article or rumors (don't ask me to talk about it, I don't want to talk about it) that have been going around about Yunho for the last week, the way he handled the 260715 live is something i find truly impressive.
While he never explicitly or directly mentioned anything wrong going on in his life or brought up anything relating to the rumors (he probably can't even if he did want to, and I very much don't think he does want to), the fact that Yunho so willingly accepted Atiny's reassurances en masse in that live means that he is acknowledging, at the very least, that there is something to be reassured about.
There's a certain level of trust between Yunho and his own fans that I currently find very interesting. Yunho didn't really ignore or pretend that everything was fine, but he also didn't make the live about what wasn't fine. He didn't bring up any negative subject at all, didn't force himself to sound overly cheerful nor did he ignore and deny that he was not feeling it. No, instead he let Atiny reaffirm their presence in his life and their continuity by his side, while he doubled down on doing the same.
This live was a checkpoint on whether things could return to the norm βwhether Atiny/Hotteoks and Yunho could still walk down the imaginary aisle hand in hand, together and foreverβ and with the way Yunho handled it in his oh-so-gentle, kind, and patient manner, we can confidently surmise that yes it will. (I think ? u know what maybe its not that confident lol)
I was waiting for him to appear before the fan meeting because it's better for him and for Atiny to face this head-on now than to try to wait and piggyback on the excitement of the fan meeting, where the weight of the rumor might stain the enjoyment of the experience for some fans. And I'm glad he did appear ! He tried to make the interaction as close to his usual live structure as he could, and he succeeded for the most part, but there was also these brief instances of Yunho letting go and freely leaning on Atiny instead of the usual pillar of resilience and strength we get. He gave us his head for head pats (it was cuuuuuteeeee) and said, "Healing complete."
And I want to take a moment to untangle that, because that is a performance of mutual care and vulnerability , and part of what makes Yunho so good at managing his own lives and his relationship with Hotteoks. For a brief moment, he let Atiny take on the role of the one giving comfort wrapped, of course, in his usual humor and wordplay. That is a gift he gave freely, allowing and creating space for Atiny to care for him without it feeling heavy, without crossing his own boundaries, and in the way they all could within capacity (hi helllo this is virtual play). For a group of people that has been worrying about him for a full week (even a bit before, if you count themigraine), it gives everyone an outlet : "Pat Yunho's head and he will feel better; send him love and reassurance; shower him with positivity" that is the way to handle this difficult situation. "Healing complete" in turn, is a confirmation of reception; it's his way of saying that it worked, that he heard, saw and assimilated Atiny's care. And so it closes the loop to allow people to feel relief, not linger in their worry and eventually move on.
It's not the first time Yunho has done this. Yunho always leans into his positive rituals with Atiny : head pats are one of them, as well as Hatyus, his moments of gratefulness, kisses, photo times, choco chips, wordplays and puns... etc Those are all exchanges that he practiced and modeled enough when everything was good that Atiny was willing to pick some things up and mirror them back to him when things were allegedly not good. The compliments he heard and read from fans on the live : "I missed you," "I'm on your side," "Thank you for becoming an idol," "Thank you for being a singer," "I'll be a fan that suits you," "Because of you I can smile and be happy", are all variations of things that he said first to Atiny countless times over and over again. And the kicker again is that he's really well aware of this dynamic; he makes it known when he says that fans become like their idol and vice versa, that "we keep becoming more alike [β¦] I think a singer and their fans naturally become synchronized in a way."
Gotta say, in a live a few months ago, Yunho described his and Atiny's relationship as a "healthy relationship". And the choice of adjective always had me perplexed, because I mean, fans have a tendency to become obsessive, entitled, cross boundaries and be straight-up disrespectful, if not borderline weird and creepy. Same for whenever he said, "You're mine and I'm yours" a part of me always wondered how he could say it so confidently. Wasn't he scared or worried that some people would take it the extreme way? And yet, the way Yunho spoke about and to Atiny always held nothing but fondness, love, and respect, and ahhhhβafter yesterday's live, I think I understand what he might mean by healthy relationship.
Because when things did go to shit, his fans (am talking publicly, to his face, not behind anonymous Twitter accounts) came to him with nothing but an open heart and reassurance, a mirrored desire to keep walking forward together and a mutual wish for happiness. It makes sense, then, that he would view the relationship so positively despite any potential outliers. It's as much preventive as it is a commentary on what the relationship is and what he wants it to continue being.
