Avatar: The Last Airbender | Book Two: “Tales of Ba Sing Se”
Fire is energy…and life.
“Sora, lets take the raft and go!”
“haha, just kidding!”
By popular request, I have now tried a “happy” comic. A new character is also introduced. But I don’t know yet if this one will appear again. It was a lot of fun to draw this comic, but I think the heartbreaking stories are more my style :’)

This is rather different from what I usually post, but I figured it might help someone out, so I’ll post it anyway!
I made this comic a while ago when I was feeling uncertain about the labels I use and wanted to remind myself why I identify as ace and how much that’s helped me let go of weights I’ve been carrying for years
Hopefully it helps someone out there!! You’re okay to use whatever label(s) you feel comfortable with, and it’s entirely okay to change your mind!!
TW: rape, torture, murder, blood
I don’t have many followers and not many people will see this or interact with this, but I feel like I should say it…
Two years ago, a girl called Eleni Topaloudis was found dead in the waters of the island of Rhodes, Greece. She was found by fishermen that stated that it was pure luck that her body never left the bay, because otherwise she would be forever lost… Because of the way her body was found, they realised that she was alive when she was dumped in the waters, and she drowned while bound by heavy cloths to restrict her movements and bleeding.
The murderes where identified and sued, but the final sentece was handed out just today, on the 15th of May, 2020. Her murderers were Manolis Koukouras and Alexandros Loutsai, 23 and 21 year old respectively. They lied, tried to buy their way out of the blame (Koukouras’s family has quite a lot of money and social standing) and never owned up to what they did, we even saw the one accusing the other of having all the blame.
What did they do?
Well, they have been accused of raping girls before, Loutsai is to go on court in June for raping a disabled woman. But what they did to Eleni was despicable. They lured her with the promise of an outing and later when the fast food place was closed they eventually went to Koukouras’s family summer house. Eleni’s messages reavealed that she had texted her friend: “Call me in 1 hour!”…
!!!!!!!TRIGGER WARNING HERE!!!!!!!
When they reached that place (Koukouras’s grandmother was there, on another floor), they started raping her. She put up a fight and they started stabbing her with knives and beating her head with an iron bar. She still persisted, despite the beatings, the blood, the horrible pain, she still put up a fight, screamed and tried to get away. Later, when she was in a semi-comatose state, whispering “Wait till my father gets his hands on you”, they tied her up, drove her to a far away bay, full of rocks, and dumped her in the sea. She was still alive then. She was begging them to take her to a hospital, and those bastards didn’t even give her that. When they were done, they went back to Koukouras’s place, cleaned up all the blood (it even reached the ceiling) and went to their homes to sleep.
In court, they didn’t admit to the blame. “I’m not sorry, because I did nothing wrong!”, they said. They both said that they were petrified as the other defiled the girl. They both claimed ignorance, they both laughed in the breaks of the court. Koukouras has a photo of him while in handcuffs where he flips off the cameras outside of the court place.
They both have pictures of them smiling as they enter/exit the building.
Koukouras’s father and grandmother and Loutsai’s sister are now accused of purjury. They hid their crimes, lied about the relationship those two had with Eleni, and even bribed people to cover up the truth or paint Koukouras in a brighter light. Koukouras had two psychiatrists prescribe him medicine suitable for the mentally ill to claim a lighter sentence. Those two psychiatrists are also under the court’s scrutiny right now. These days, he claims he has found peace with god, and that from now on the New Testament will always be with him.
His words mean nothing to the Greek community. He won’t be forgiven. I’m not religious, but I know enough of the christian religion to know that god forgives those who seek forgiveness. Koukouras and Loutsai do not seek anything of the sort. Mr. Kougias, a political figure and a famous criminal defense attorney stated earlier this evening that in all of the 800 murder cases he has witnessed and worked on, the perpetrators always seem to show some kind of respect towards the victim, even the most brutish of the lot. Those men, he said, showed no such thing. They always walked in with their heads held high. “We never saw any remorse coming from them”, he said.
Koukouras’s lawyer, and this is where it gets truly infuriating, it truly turns your stomach, claimed on his statement that he didn’t see a rape case anywhere… “Eleni’s bra was still on, so what is this nonsense? This is not rape, my client only caressed her! And well done to Manolis for that, you should caress women Manolis, always!”
Yes, he said that. He also pressed to have no women as juries in the court case.
Mr. Kougias also pointed out that everybody was waiting some kind of apology from those two, even one coming from their lawyers, but there never was any. Their entire defense soliloquy was built around the delifement of Eleni’s memory.
“I’m sorry, Mr Giannis, Manolis never liked your daughter.” This is what Koukouras’s attorney said to Eleni’s father. Her father.
“Eleni offended Loutsai’s manhood and that is why he attacked her.” No such thing came from the interrogations, but that is what they claimed in court.
They both got around 15 years and a life sentence (which is bullshit, there isn’t an ACTUAL sentence to serve for life in Greece right now, it’s 25 years maximum, and it’s not unheard of to be released after 8 years).
At the beginning, people shamed Eleni. They called her a slut, a whore, a girl that wanted to have a threesome and what did she expect anyway, going out with two men? They said “good riddance” and that the world was rid of one whore more. Because Loutsai was Albanian by birth, they called her nasty names about wanting to sleep with “foreign scum” that I have no knowledge of how to translate. Even today, trolls still sully her memory, people still think that this was a simple case.
But there are people that are now pressing to have changes, both in the law system and in how we raise our kids. So that no parents can go through what Eleni’s parents will go through for the rest of their lives. They raised a wonderful child and the police returned it to them in a bag. They didn’t get to kiss her goodbye or hug her one last time. And I’ll remind you that her murderers joked around in front of them, never admitted to the blame, lied in front of everyone and, right to the moment where I’m writing this sentence, they show no signs of remorse.
It’s sad that Eleni’s death was the one that pushed people to think more about women’s rights. It’s sad that she had to suffer so much and die in such a horrific way only for things to go back to normal when everything quiets down.
So even if noone sees or reads this, I’m writing this for myself, because this is my way of never forgetting this girl. As a last farewell to this young woman who was so brutally robbed of her entire life, I’ll leave something the assigned prosecutor said about this case:
LET JUCTICE PREVAIL EVEN IF THE WORLD BURNS
Farewell my dear. I don’t believe in heaven, but if I’m wrong, I hope you’re there right now and that you get to experience all the joys you were denied in life…

Spirited Away + A Dream Colour Palette
The type of the mother I’m trying to be. Not just encourage bodily autonomy, but reward displays of it, even when it might make someone else in the room uncomfortable.
I’ve made so many people uncomfortable in supporting my daughter’s personal space. People will try to hug her, she’ll sometimes say “No, thank you” and the adult will look at me to make her do it, but I just say “It’s ok honey, you don’t have to hug anyone you don’t want to.” It makes people irrationally huffy, making me feel even more justified in supporting my daughter’s choices. Creeps.
I legit had to mom-voice some random woman with a “she said no!” when she tried to force a hug on Madison. (who was not very good at verbalizing to people she didn’t know/trust at the time)
She replied, “I just want a hug, it won’t hurt her.”
Me: She. Said. No.
There aren’t many things more important than letting my daughter know that I have her back when it comes to something like this.
I work with five year olds and I had a very long talk with them about permission and that your body belongs to yourself and no one else. “Even if you want to hug your friend, you need to stop and ask if it’s okay and if they don’t want you to touch them, you should respect that choice and not do it.” they were like “cool” and then every time after that they had no problem asking their friends “can I give you a hug?” Or “can I hold your hand?” Very politely. If their friend said no, they shrugged and went on with their life. They even started asking me if they could hug me or if it was okay to hold my hand when they were sad. And I always ask when they need comfort “do you need or want a hug?” If they say no, I ask “okay, let me know what we can do as a class to help you feel better. Quiet time? Do you want a stuffed animal? Sit on the couch? Do you need some time alone?” They verbalize what they need and they become aware of their own autonomy and their ability and power to say “no.” Just because someone is an adult does NOT give them the right to hug a child who has said “no” or “no thanks.” Teach then that they own their own body, and no one else is in charge of it. Teach them the power of NO.
^^^^^this is so important
Whenever a kid refused to high 5 me for whatever reason, I make a point to say “thank you for stating your boundaries”.
My husbands family get so offended when my stepdaughter doesn’t want a hug. I just tell them “no, she said she doesn’t want one”. They often try to force her to hug them or just grab her. It starts young, and they learn their body isnt their own.
When I first met my stepdaughter, if I asked for a hug, she wouldn’t say no, but she’d go into a protective stance and just wait. She was waiting for me to violate her boundaries. I told her “you don’t have to give me a hug if you don’t want one. You’re allowed to say no”. It took a while, but now she’s happy saying no.
Children have a right to boundaries as much as an adult does. Don’t violate a child’s boundaries.
It means a lot to me, for reasons I won’t go into, that you’re teaching your stepdaughter that. We need to teach more kids about this, and for that matter, need to teach adults to respect kids’ boundaries.
Very important to tech both, children AND adults!

Discomfort is necessary for growth. Lean into it. Sit in it. You’re better for it.
26-year-old Jamarion Robinson’s grandmother Beverly Nixon said her grandson was bipolar and schizophrenic. Still got shot 76 (!!!) times. Would a white person get the same treatment?
The witness said he saw more than a dozen patrol cars at the complex where US Marshals killed Robinson on August 5, 2016. Why were there no behavioral specialist? Surely one of them would know how to interact with a bipolar schizophrenic better than the police.
I’m absolutely disgusted.
Here’s Jamarion’s mother’s GoFundMe in case anyone is willing to help.
