i will always mourn that we didn't see more of dustin and will's friendship. will absolutely could have been part of the scoops troop in s3 and bonded more with dustin considering they were both being excluded/neglected because mike and lucas were too busy with their girlfriends. instead, dustin spends the season separated from his friends and will spends it being put through the torture of queer alienation. from what i've heard of tales from 85, will is paired with nikki and dustin is often on his own while mike and el and lucas and max are coupled up - there was such an easy opportunity for will and dustin to have been the third pairing, but instead they arbitrarily insert a whole new character to separate will from the party instead of fleshing out a friendship between will and dustin that we barely got to see in the show
