I’ve been seeing a lot “normies,” if you will, complaining about ao3 “allowing” certain content to be published and going after writers for their work. News flash: the archive was created to be ANTI-CENSORSHIP. It isn’t social media where there are guardrails—it is a place where people can publish whatever they want, whether you like it or not. If you want to be on ao3, you gotta accept that.

Whether you are new to fandom culture or not, one of the BIGGEST rules to follow is “don’t like, don’t read/interact.” If you see something you don’t like, go ahead and scroll, block, close the tab, whatever you want. What you shouldn’t do is harass people for what they’re writing about.

I’ve certainly seen content on ao3 that I do not care for, but instead of commenting on the fact and wasting my precious time, I simply move on and find something else to read. And, you guys should too if you’re not already.
