i love to read a character's stoicism as awkwardness. yeah your posture is great and you're mysteriously surveying the scene but it's because you're stiff af and don't know how to approach anyone, right?
Solas Dragon Age, actually a lot of DA characters. But with Solas especially when you see how much of an act it all is in all these tiny moments that add up in DAI and DAV, but if you get the Sollavan ending of DAV you really see how desperately he's been holding onto the act of the Dread Wolf, who MUST be stoic and composed, Rook doesn't know *Solas* like Lavallen and even Varric did, Rook knows the Dread Wolf, and that's what Solas must provide.
I also think it's so important that his name in the waking world outside of the Fade, outside of history, is Solas. Solace. Sol. The sun and warmth and comfort and finding peace in the ending you've found, despite the trauma and regret. Even the Dread Wolf can find solace.

My fellow American hobby bakers, demoralized by egg prices and scarcity and how you will make the American apple pie or the chocolate chip cookie, fear not. I have spent many years turning regular baking recipes vegan for my corrupt and traitorous sister who last week ate a salmon cream cheesed roll. There are many, many substitutes for eggs including but not limited to:
Mashed banana: best added to compliment flavors of whatever it is you're baking (peanut butter, chocolate) make sure it's MUSHY and ripe
Apple sauce: again, best with complimentary flavors (cinnamon, brown sugar) use unsweetened and have the rest as a snack
The big boy champ, ground flaxseed: flavorless, though it does darken your batter/ dough a bit. Bags found next to cornstarch and almond meal, etc. Instructions on how to use right on the bag! Make sure to let the flaxseed water combo sit in a separate bowl until it has the consistency of mucus 👍
Now with all of these you MUST add a bit more leavener, they don't have the lil bit of lift eggs give, so make sure you add a touch more baking powder. Sort of ok for brownies and cookies if you want them a bit more dense but KEY for cakes, quick breads, muffins and other things like that or she is gonna be SQUIDGY 🫡
I've got one that works very well in most cookies, cakes, muffins, quickbreads, and similar. It came out of the Student's Vegetarian Cookbook circa 2004,and I've been using it when baking for friends who are vegan, have egg allergies, or just when I've run out of eggs ever since.
Ingredients (per egg you're replacing)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 tbs flour (gluten free flour blends work just fine)
3 tbs water
Combine dry ingredients in small bowl. Add water. Stir well and not be alarmed when it fizzes up. Add it to the thing you are baking immediately -- do not make in advance.
I'll admit that I don't make a lot of pies, but the only thing I can remember using egg for in most sweet pies is for an egg wash on the crust. I'm not entirely sure what would do as a substitute for that (especially shine-wise), but if you just want something for sanding sugar to stick to, milk or water should do the trick fine. Milk in particular should give it a bit of color.

It really is crazy that Bioware came out with the friendship/rivalry system in DA2 and not only did it never revisit it, no one else did either?? Like a system that lays out and explicitly incentivizes roleplaying as a character with real principles and explores how butting heads with a character might actually play out? And I know that you can have different dynamics with party members in other DA games but I feel like what was so special about 2's system is it explicitly didn't frame making a character mad as a loss of progress but a different kind of progress.
Look I absolutely get people missing codexes in inquisition but when people mischaracterize Solas as an asshole or what have you. All I do is look at the codex in the Emerald Graves where a hunter (or someone) slept in the arms of his statue and said that it was the safest they ever felt sleeping. Then I sob for twenty minutes.

Lavellan meets Solas
Spoilers!
The Lost Elf reprise killed me.
I remember one comment on YouTube under the original track. There was a theory that 'The Lost Elf' summarizes the love of Lavellan and Solas, how they “speak” through the melody: she is the violin, and he is the cello.
Yet now it’s slightly different; if you listen closely, you’ll hear that the violin sounds strong, happy and melodic, while in the original, it was broken, miserable, and thin.
The cello solo sets up the narrative, but at the climax, you can finally hear the violin. They 'sing' together in perfect harmony, almost indistinguishable from one another.
I love how music deepens our understanding of the storyline, guiding us further and revealing delicate nuances that add richness and depth to their story.
It’s canon now, it’s their theme.
Also I love how in the beggining Lavellan knew only a few words in Ancient Elven, at the end of the Tresspasser she can form full sentences, and now she speaks Elven fluently. It's a unique thing only for them. She speaks his language, because she knows how important it's to him. Elgar'nan speaks in Common language, yes, because of the Blight, but still. Even Mythal and Solas, in their final conversation, do not speak in Elven.
Lavellan is the only one who accepts him unconditionally. She forgives him when he cannot forgive himself, holds him when he needs it most, and ultimately, she is the one who saves him.
This is the extraordinary journey we’ve been fortunate enough to witness.
Ten years is a long time, but their love will last forever.
Every time I see someone use the phrase "blinded by nostalgia" in regard to DA fans I roll my eyes. Nostalgia? As in?? The past??? No DA game is in the past to me. Im recruiting Shale rn bitch. Velanna is actively murdering people. Sebastian is experiencing Chantry Guilt before my very eyes. Hawke is going down on Merril as we speak. Every day a bear is born in the Hinterlands.
Do not minimize my mental illness and imply I havent played these games since their release. Put some respect on how fucking unhinged they've made me and the ungodly amount of hours of my life have been spent playing them. There is no nostalgia. There is only now. And now is Dragon Age. Always.
