Didn't expect to be as into Outlander as I am. Wrapping up season two now.
Gotta love a show scored by Bear McCreary.
Separated by twenty YEARS and I know there's like four more seasons/books? So it's a romance that picks up again when Claire is sixty? There's a lot of genre staples being subverted in the series, plus since it's from 2014 it's a glimpse into the genre over the past decade.
I've only cried like this three or four times.
I was so profoundly upset with snw season 3, I loved beyond love Starfleet academy, and the cancellations of trek shows and the unknown future of the franchise leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Regardless, I love Trek, and I want to love all of it, so I'm going to watch what remains.
So I'm ready to be hurt again, starting up the season four premiere.

any time I tell my mutual about the fic i'm 'writing' and they ask me where they can read it
okay but do the 10 thousand of you who relate to this have any advice on how to stop maladaptive daydreaming instead of writing
I find myself in a similar position: I'm totally 'revising' my thesis.
By thinking about it.
Constantly.
Really hard.
No, not while the document is open.
I'm a Seanan McGuire fanboy, so I love everything she puts out, even if I can rank titles within the massive list of works.
That said, Inkpot Gods is off to a better than average start so far, and I'm all in on the Alchemical Journeys series.
Roger from the series remains one of my favorite book characters, across authors/genres.

i think when actors need to leave a show for whatever reason but the character is important and doesnt need to be written off / writing them off would make the story worse i think they should just hire a new actor for the character but, and this is the crucial bit, hire a similar-looking actor of a different gender. Yeppp they look different bc they transitioned between seasons. Obviously
Oh man can you imagine? It's like if in Roseanne when the original Becky actress left the character came back as like Bart? I'd be so so down for that shit
i consider one of my greatest strengths as a writer to be my willingness to delete passages that don’t strengthen the story *i hit the backspace key once and release a bloodcurdling scream as i writhe on the floor for several minutes* see? easy peasy

A couple of rereads from my high school years, so twenty+ years ago, to firm up some analysis in my writing. I suffered through Mists of Avalon recently, and now it's time for Tolkien.
Now it's not that I dislike it or that it's bad or whatever, but it does recall a very particular protestant upbringing and reading the Bible so many times, it's like a weird echo. And it's meant to be written somewhat that way, not quite a religious text as a history like Geoffrey of Monmouth, perhaps, but the prose is similar across all.
Anyway, I'm mostly skimming and I'll never remember all the names, but I've pulled a fair amount out to use in my analysis of Critical Role's Campaign 4, which is heavily inspired by the Silmarillion and the reason I'm returning to the text at this time at all.
Noting that the land of Araman exists here, this is one of the quotes I pulled:
"And deep in their dark hearts the Orcs loathed the Master whom they served in fear, the maker only of their misery." (P. 50)
gonna be honest i don’t know how many more ‘enter the 6 digit code we sent to your phone’s i got left in me
