eridian children in Grace’s class interested but slightly disappointed to learn that much earth life is bilaterally symmetrical with even numbers of limbs
Grace going “oh!! But!” and teaching them about starfish, to their absolute delight
new eridian schoolchild trend of starfishing aka flopping flat down with all legs out and moving by wiggling and squirming around, giggling. parents hooting at Grace in despair. why did you teach them this
Loved this idea so much I had to draw it ☆
ADVICE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT HAVING A GOOD DAY:
wait until it gets dark and make tea or coffee or hot chocolate, or if it’s too hot outside make yourself a healthy smoothie with your favorite things in it at any point during the day
put on your favorite underwear, it helps, trust me, it’s an old family secret (i’m not kidding)
if you have a pet, play the “how many things can i stick on you until you move or get mad” game (bonus points if they fall asleep, extra bonus points if a family member sees you and tells you to quit it, extra double ultra points if they join in)
rip a peice of paper into as many little pieces as you can
go to animeseason.com and click “random anime” until you see one that looks completely ridiculous (or actually good) and watch the first episode. repeat if it sucked or if you get bored halfway through
spend at least an hour making a music playlist for how you feel right now and save it for now or when you feel a bad mood rise again
curl up in bed and cover yourself with blankets and pillows and put in music and just lay there for a while (sleeping is also good)
eat everything
drink lots of water
it’s okay bad moods don’t last forever!!!!!! i promise!!! you will be yourself soon and there are people who love you very much, don’t be afraid to reach out to them
you are lovely
eat lots of bananas
here are some more friends
i bet there is still a box of crayons in your house somewhere (if not you can get them cheap during back-to-school sales); find them and use them (maybe while watching ridiculous anime)
sunshine if you can manage it or just a sun lamp trust me it matters more than you think especially in winter
hugs even if they are stuffed animals or your pet or your pillow whatever is on hand
if you’ve got a favorite lotion/soap/thing that is scented use it liberally
cry if you need, if it doesn’t start by itself or if you don’t want to attract attention put on a sad movie so you have an excuse
write this down to pull out on future bad days:
it is okay to have a day where you don’t get things done
it is okay not to have a reason for feeling bad
taking care of yourself is a worthwhile use of time
if you still don’t feel better it is not your fault (and it is okay to ask for help)
@daysleftofsecondterm
And may I say, before the crowd of “self care isn’t always fun” crowd rolls in… not with that attitude it’s not.
shower/bath (being dirty/sticky/warm/cold when you don’t want to be can make a bad day worse, and sometimes slapping on some music and sitting in bath stew with a cold drink or taking a cold shower or whatever will give your system time to handle/deplete stress chemicals)
brush teeth (see above)
go outside without a screen and sit, lay down, stand, or walk and just look at the space around you/the sky for a few minutes. Take your break at work someplace you can see outside if you can.
Close your eyes and happy-paws knead a pillow for a couple minutes.
call or message someone you like and ask them about something they like. listening to someone I like talk to me about something they like tends to cheer me up and remind me there are good things, and gets me out of my own head. plus I get to talk to someone I like, and make their day better, too.
do some stretches for the endorphins

Nokia was so futuristic
Bunny binkies! 🐇
It's SO awkward when you meet a co-worker at one of THESE kinds of events.
Tomorrow I get to begin lifting the elimination diet! But I have to take a few days with each new thing I add back.
I’ve decided on Dairy, Gluten, then Eggs.
But I was curious how many people would go right for bread so here’s a poll:
Which order would you pick
Gluten, eggs, dairy
Gluten, dairy, eggs
Eggs, dairy, gluten
Egg, gluten, dairy
Dairy, gluten, eggs
Dairy, eggs, gluten
I’m excited for cheese and butter. I’m gonna have a slice of gluten free pizza tomorrow and I’m stoked. Then I’ll be able to have toast with butter when I can finally have bread, and finally a fried egg on buttered toast, my favorite breakfast will finally be mine once more.
Fascinated that bread first is winning because I did consider that but then what are you gonna put on it? Are you just eating plain bread? No butter?? Pasta with no sauce? Pizza with no cheese?! One person in the notes asked if pasta has gluten which made me laugh.
Bread needs a buddy! What’s the good of plain bread? Like. Okay yeah it’s really good but imagine it with butter.
Do you know vegan margarine? It tastes exactly like butter, doesn't melt the same but it's perfectly fine on bread. And there's honey, jam, ham, pickled vegetables, roasted vegetables, fish, tomatoes, pesto, garlic+olive oil… you won't run out of things to put on bread that fast.
FLUMBLR! talk to me. tell me your oc x canon pairings.

every time i ask people if they do any new years resolutions its all ooooo i dont like making them bc i fail or ohhhhh no i couldnt keep up wiht that and then when they ask me and i tell them about Pasta Quest (i am eating as many different pasta shapes as possible in the space of a year) or when i did Fruit Adventures (every time i saw a fruit i had never eaten before id get one and eat it and read the wikipedia article about it) theyre like hang on i forgot you can make Fun Ones i want a fun one
while i actually made this post back in May, since New Year’s is approaching here’s some of my fave suggestions from the tags if you’re looking for inspiration!
other favorites from the notes I didn’t get screenshots of at the time:
learn the names/species of local plants, bugs, and birds where you live (iNaturalist or Merlin the bird app help with this)
learn the rules to 10 new card games
steal the colored paint cards from hardware store paint aisles and use them to make art
try out every different apple variety you can find and rank them
similarly LOTS of people in the notes doing soup quests, and a few cheese quests also
similarly lots of people reading/watching certain amounts of media over the year, and tracking/rating it
track the number of cats/dogs/etc you see over the year
there’s plenty more in there too :)
this year I’m gonna grow things from SEED
Specifically tomatoes and maybe melons

Eat all of the flowers!
Floral flavors are not much used in my country (USA) so the past two year‘s quest was to taste every flower flavored food I ran across. Probably will be an ongoing challenge for me. Lavender earl grey tea is delicious and not scary for most people. Rose Boba tea is delicious. Fireweed jellybeans that I picked up on a trip to Alaska were insanely good! Elderflower/lemon soda (socata) is a new favorite. Violet candy, OMG so good that I’ve started special ordering it to have on hand all the time (and it makes my mailbox smell delicious). The cost of peony syrup on that same Alaska trip was prohibitive, and I’ve regretted it ever since.

In my country, a few bakeries make flower sourdough bread ("Blütenbrot"), hard to get but very tasty. Maybe that's something you could recreate with your local edible flowers?
I saw a post saying that Boromir looked too scruffy in FotR for a Captain of Gondor, and I tried to move on, but I’m hyperfixating. Has anyone ever solo backpacked? I have. By the end, not only did I look like shit, but by day two I was talking to myself. On another occasion I did fourteen days’ backcountry as the lone woman in a group of twelve men, no showers, no deodorant, and brother, by the end of that we were all EXTREMELY feral. You think we looked like heirs to the throne of anywhere? We were thirteen wolverines in ripstop.
My boy Boromir? Spent FOUR MONTHS in the wilderness! Alone! No roads! High floods! His horse died! I’m amazed he showed up to Imladris wearing clothes, let alone with a decent haircut. I’m fully convinced that he left Gondor looking like Richard Sharpe being presented to the Prince Regent in 1813
*electric guitar riff*
And then rocked up to Imladris a hundred ten days later like
Some people have been wondering about the raccoon. Listen. Listennn. Don't ask about the raccoon.
But does the racoon survive the Uruk-Hai? Does he curl up on Aragorn's head, or does he go straight to Faramir? Does he bite Denethor?
My friend. My colleague. My brother my captain my king. I too have been pondering this question, and in my mind there can be only one ultimate outcome.
A few months later
All hail the High Warden of Gondor.
Epilogue: It ADORES Faramir.
Every time I see this post I’m obligated to reblog and make it your problem too!
TEARS!! I AM CRYING TEARS!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
why didn’t gandalf just carry the ring to mordor himself with these tongs
like i’m picturing him being really careful and looking at it and carrying it exactly like this while walking or riding through the woods and across rivers and up mountains and through valleys and he doesn’t drop it even once except at the very end where he tidily drops it into the volcano. frodo sam and the crew and even gollum wholly undisturbed. sauron can’t find him bc of the meditative aura surrounding him which is generated by his immense focus on not dropping it
World's most tense egg and spoon race
this somehow became the funniest thing on earth in my head and I had to draw it so
LotR doesn't deserve it's fandom
The Doc has reached that part of the GHR, and I am ✨indecisive✨ what the funniest Saint would be
Alright Londoners, Secret Santa Sacks time!
Spin the wheel and tell me what you're getting them as a gift this festival season!

It amuses me to no end how FLs Companion tab includes both sapient and non-sapient beings (tho I admit the line is quite blurry in the setting). Every time I open this page I'm thinking "ah yes, my easter pet menagerie. The folks I slept with last fotr. A kitten. The lady who bought Paris with me. My fingerking frens. No, that one's not a fingerking, that's a normal weasel. The minister of state affairs. And my eight pet skulls (???)
abstract and modern art haters are sooo snobby like klein literally Created an entirely new pigment and then painted a canvas in a way where the brush strokes wouldn't be visible. the insinuation that people with no skill could reproduce that is so annoying because unless you are skilled at color mixing and painting you definitely couldn’t lmao
i hope it's okay to add this because i think it hits the nail directly on the head
Honestly, it's like picking up a book and saying "I know all these words, I can type, I could have written this" like there's no middle step between the technical ability and the finished work.
It's saying "I could write this exact book" while holding a copy of the book in your hand. Like yeah shit you could, it's substantially easier to copy words that are already there than to create something from nothing.
I had an "I could do that!" Moment once, and it honestly changed the direction of my life.
I had dropped out of college for the second time, was profoundly depressed, and not sure what I was going to do with my life. My mom took me to an exhibition of the Denver Botanical Gardens' Botanical Illustration program.
It was a color-pencil-on-acrylic drawing of a Witches Broom plant, and I remember suddenly realizing that wait. I know how to do that. I know how to make those marks, how to layer those colors. I could do this.
I could make something good enough to hang in a gallery.
-And that changed things for me. Yeah, actually, I wasn't a total failure, I COULD do that and in fact I think I will. I signed up for the program, got my accreditation as a scientific illustrator, and my fucking dignity back. I even got to take classes from the woman who drew that Witches Broom.
All this is to say: Actually, go in to galleries and see if there is something you think you could do.
Then go do it.
You might find out that the threshold to getting your work shown/published is entirely within your skill level, or (like me) it's something you will get to learn so much more about, or you will wander into a completely different art form but literally whatever happens your life will be richer for it.
Imagine how kickass if the lady in the original post decided to do what Klein actually said did, and we all got a brand new pigment and painting technique out of it. You think you can do that? Good! Go do it! It'll kick ass!!
Like yeah, we all know that there's a lot of people who are all talk, but I am here to encourage you all who ever looked at something and thought '...I actually think I can do this?' to GO FUCKING DO IT IT WILL BE SO FUCKING COOL!!!
"I could do that" got me into pixel art and programming and playing video games and developing video games and sound design and knitting and baking and writing fanfiction. And turns out, yeah, I *can* do it, every time, I just needed the self confidence. So thanks for having an extremely good take, cause everyone else in this thread is the sort of person who kept me small. Go out and do these things you "could" do, everyone, and turn them into "I did do that", I promise it will be fun.
