I was losing consciousness on a regular basis with seemingly no rhyme or reason (but only 20% of POTS patients fully knock out so that’s not complete diagnostic criteria), losing my vision whenever i stood up, immense shooting pain in my head with standing, muffled hearing with standing. If you go from sitting/ laying down and experience major dizziness, head pain, darkening vision, or hearing going fuzzy when you stand then there’s probably something going on. Along with immense dizziness/ needing to sit in the shower, heat intolerance, and a bunch of other things (POTS impacts the entire body, everything you don’t consciously control can get messed up- think digestion, immune system, cardiac)

For a long time I assumed it was an iron issue or not eating well enough but when both those got evaluated with no concerns noted I began to believe it was POTS. I went to four different doctors over the span of the next 10 years all telling me I was fine and it wasn’t POTS, refusing to refer me to specialists until eventually I moved, got a new doctor, and with the first mention of my symptoms he went “that sounds like POTS” who sent me off to a cardiologist who also went “this is totally POTS but legally let’s run xyz to confirm”

I would do the standing test at home as well which ultimately lead me to believe that were was some form of dysautonomia going on.

Second test can be done at home with just heart rate, if you have a smart watch great if not just take your pulse manually! It can be an easy indicator of “something is clearly Not Right” without getting medical nonsense involved right away. For me when I do that test my hr spikes to 120 within seconds, then continues to climb and climb
