My favorite thing about Armand is that, beyond being scary and intimidating in an ancient vampire way, he’s also weird and off putting in a way that feels both hilarious and endearing. He does things that no other vampire in existence would ever consider. Goes through a divorce and proceeds to join AA because of his love for steps and rituals? Brilliant! Deranged! Lovely! Dresses up as Louie’s employ so he can wait hand and foot on the man he’s been secretly in love with for 50 plus years? That’s innovative in its insanity! He’s mimicking human behavior in ways never before conceived of and doing a piss poor job at it! It’s awkward and charming, and ironically, the most human thing about him.

I think it's insane that even in the most leftist and "progressive" spaces the idea of equating morality with looks is alive and present and no one fucking bats an eye at it. like racists and mysoginysts are always portrayed as fat and hairy and generally unkept, as a contrast to the morally good and attractive leftists of course; people will have no problem being genuinely fucking awful about someone's appearance if they're deemed to be a "bad person". and the worst part is you point all of this out and people act like you're reading too much into things like no dude you gotta start using your brain more

I feel like showing how little Armand had to actually do to get Larry to "rest" really highlighted how much Daniel resisted it and how hard he fought and that was what made him fascinating 😭

He loved, had decades with the man he loved, and could not, would not, curse his love with the devil that resides in a vampire, and so he erased their love from his lover's mind, thinking that would mend the break before it happened. But then, oh. Oh no. What if Armand gave himself one more chance, one last glimpse at his soulmate before he would inevitably succumb to his age and pass, and instead of it giving closure, Dubai opened up all the wounds, and stupid beautiful Armand killed him so that he wouldn't die. But Daniel doesn't remember. And Armand CANT get in his head anymore. He won't remember. And so Armand has lost and damned himself and the only man who knew his self for eternity. So no, he doesn't want to change. He's grieving. Sorry, enduring.
