Cancelling Steven x Spinel doesnāt protect anyone
So many people have been recently attacking this ship and calling it pedophilic, naturally, these people think theyāre top shit. The people who hate on the Steven x Spinel ship are holier-than-thou people who think theyāre woke for jumping on a hate bandwagon and getting kudos rather than actually fixing an issue.
Well, get off your high horses and let me tell you the ACTUAL problem at hand because you guys are hating on the ship.. for the completely wrong reasons. All of you are linking pedophilia to age gapsā¦ and ONLY age gaps when thereās so much more to it. Pedophilia is more of a mental power thing than anything, a mental power that mentally unstable Spinel has no part in. Pedophilia starts becoming a problem when a person who is in a higher position in terms of knowledge is persuading minors who donāt know any better, knowledge that Spinel clearly doesnāt have. They manipulate you, control you for their pleasure and lust and thatās why itās a problem. Pedophilia is an obsession and fetishization of kids who donāt know any better.
This ship HAS NONE OF THAT. Spinel, the one who is physically way older than Steven, IS CLEARLY NOT LIKE THAT, and we, the shippers, clearly donāt ship it that way. You guys are going on an innocent picture of them holding hands and call it pedophilic for fuckās sake.
Spinel doesnāt fall under the terms of a pedophile if she were to date Steven. She isnāt manipulating him into acts for her pleasure, she isnāt fetishizing his young age, hell I donāt think she even knows how aging works in the first place seeing as GEMS DONāT AGE. Which brings me to my next point.
GEMS DONāT AGE, not physically at least. The closest we can get to aging an ageless gem is by their mental age. Spinel was coded to be a child, she has no knowledge of ANYTHING other than how to be entertaining, SHE LITERALLY HAS NO KNOWLEDGE IN ANYTHING ELSE, SHE WAS LIVING HER LIFE PURPOSE AND WAS LATER ABANDONED FOR 6000 YEARS. You think sheās going to learn how to manipulate, persuade, and control children because she somehow grew some sort of fetish with them while standing still for 6,000 years? Hell no! We can see that Spinel is clearly not a child, but sheās not an adult either. Again, Gems age mentally, but Spinel wasnāt able to grow into an adult like Pearl and Garnet are considered to be because she was abandoned. She has no experience in anything, other than her entertainment tricks, of course. She didnāt get the chance to mature and grow like Garnet and Pearl got to. So if she isnāt a child, and she isnāt an adult.. that leaves her as that in-between stage, a teenager.
You guys argue that there are adults who act like children, but Spinel is just clearly not an adult, she has no experience in anything, no knowledge in anything, and she very clearly isnāt mature like one, seeing as she irrationally took her anger out on a bunch of strangers. The definition of an adult is ā a person who is fully grown or developed.ā Spinel canāt grow physically, that leaves her mental development which is very minimal, you know, due to the fact that she couldnāt exactly grow due to being stuck at a garden for thousands of years. This isnāt to degrade any mental headcanons you may have of Spinel, but she was coded to be an entertainer, thatās all she was and knew for most of her life meaning that she didnāt get to experience life outside of her knowledge in entertainment until now.
In conclusion, pedophilia is much more than just an age gap, fuck you for assuming it is, human rules donāt apply to rock aliens, and Stevnel is not pedophilic.
