i can’t stress enough how important this is. the strain of forcing positive thinking really never worked for me, sometimes making things worse…but being able to think neutrally like this has really put me in a better position mentally than i have been in years.

Ok, so I can’t claim to have fought a jock who listens to jazz (I have fought a track kid who listens to trap and country tho) but I HAVE fought a buff nerd. The secret is to take him by surprise. Nerds have a lot of experience with tactic games such as D&D, so he knows how to leverage his strength against you. 9 times out of 10 when I’ve fought a buff nerd I lost - the moment he gets his hands around your wrists or his weight on top of you, it’s over. BUT! When I won, it was always by doing something unpredictable. My most decisive victory was made by making it look like I was backing off/gonna run away, then bull-rushing him and tackling him to the ground, using my own weight to pin him so he couldn’t get up. So there’s half the equation!
