I’m kinda surprised that this needs to be said, but please stand up for your friends in times of need. It surprises me how so many people are detached from keeping up properly with their friends. If your friend’s mom gets rushed to the hospital for whatever reason, you show up there with flowers and a get better card (and a coffee/breakfast for your friend) the moment it’s appropriate to do so. You text on a consistent basis (yes this is dependent on the person; some friends may be more private so read the room, but check in to the degree they find appropriate), you check in, you ask questions, you offer assistance where applicable. You need to put a concerted effort into giving a fuck about your friends.

Something I think about a lot is when dj khaled spent a day lost at sea on a jet ski literally just because he drove away and got lost and started live posting about it and as he got increasingly panicked he started making like inspirational insta stories about his opps wanting him to fail even though he was entirely responsible for the situation and just started saying shit like “they don’t want you to WIN. they don’t want you to get found when you’re lost at sea in the dark”
