From the moment of his arrest, even left-of-center media has been presuming his guilt without examining anything (e.g. calling him "the killer" instead of "alleged" or "accused") and then when I say he didn't do it, the nearest person chimes in with some quip that tells me they think he did do it but should go free anyway. Don't get me wrong, I would have the same attitude if he had done it. But he didn't. It makes me feel like the only sane person in the world, even among my staunchly leftist friends.

Fineing someone $2500 per rooster per day if you keep roosters who are housed individually on your property is horrible and will have wide spread ethical and welfare complications and lead to suffering of both people and roosters.
Here where i live i house roosters individually because its a safe and healthy way to let my hens take long breaks and prevent my roosters from fighting. If I lived in California and this law was passed I could easily be fined $5000 for it despite obviously not being a cockfighter.
Also we can assume Hmong, Hispanic, and Black communities will be specifically and unfairly targeted for keeping roosters and such an expensive fine is crippling. Hispanic and Hmong people have very strong game bird culture and that doesnt mean they participate in blood sports. Game birds are many and have their own standards of perfection and individually housing game roosters is how you safely house them!
If anyone was being a proper breeder and separating out their cockerels they could be fined and have their birds seized and destroyed while being labeled as a cockfighter to the public.

They are not subject to any law or international body, as evidenced by their perpetration of genocide and ethnic cleansing against two million Gazans, their siege, and the denial of medicine, water, and food.
My 56-year-old father has faced several very critical situations that nearly cost him his life. His health remains extremely dangerous and deteriorating. He suffers from a blockage in his main artery, which could kill him at any moment. He also has malignant cancer, and his condition is very serious and deplorable. We could lose him at any moment if he is not treated as soon as possible.
We have tried desperately to get him out of the Gaza Strip via medical evacuation, but the occupation prevents patients from leaving Gaza. Today, the coordination fee for an adult is $12,000 just to cross the Rafah border crossing into Egypt.
