That’s the last step

Here we are with some of my boards for the Sofia the First: Royal Magic episode "The Green-Eyed Monster!". This was another favorite to board since I adore close siblings bonds in media and I really loved getting to board scenes showcasing Zane and Zaria's. Loved getting draw out Zane going into protective big-brother mode. Zane jumping across the classroom tables, knocking everything over to grab his mandolin was a gag I added in, and I'm glad it made it in to the end, lol.

A quick sketch of Hobkin and Ruddy. In my novel, while most fauns remain on two legs when past the age of toddlers, satyrs will regularly switch from bipedal to quadrupedal, especially while fighting or hunting.

Some of my favorite storyboards I did for the Sofia the First: Royal Magic episode, "The Tippity Tap Dance." This was my first episode to work on in the series and my first time boarding anything for Disney so it was a bit deal to do my best for it. Beforehand, I only had experience in boarding like two songs in other productions, but both were short and didn't have as big as narrative impact as the songs in Sofia do. Also, I DID NOT know tap dancing so had to do a lot of research to get posing. This episode made me absolutely fall in love with Zane's character and his and Sofia's sweet friendship. Tried to really highlight at in the boards and I think the ICON animators really brought that out. I think the episode turned out gorgeous and I love it to pieces!

"Give it a Twirl" was the second episode I boarded for Royal Magic and was pretty fun! I boarded all the first sequences until Miss Nettle leaves and my amazing board partner Cat Harman-Mitchell took over the rest. My favorite parts to board were definitely Miss Nettle. She's such a fun, sassy character and it was a treat to act that out in the boards.
