I recently heard the news that Adam by Ariel Schrag will be getting a movie. I read the book myself about a year and a half ago and I cannot stress enough just how problematic it is.

Adam is a book about a cis boy pretending to be a trans man in order to trick a lesbian into dating him.

Adam goes to New York to stay with his lesbian sister for the summer, and while he’s there he meets trans men who consider themselves lesbians. At a party he meets a lesbian he thinks is pretty and in order to get into a relationship with her he lies and tells her he’s a pre transition trans man. Let’s make a list of some of the highlights from the book, shall we?

At the very beginning of the book his sister and her girlfriend visit home and Adam and his friend spies on them having sex.

Almost all the trans men in the book identify as lesbians, implying that they are still women because they haven’t transitioned yet.

Adam, a cis straight boy, tells a lesbian that he is a trans man to trick her into dating him.

Incidentally Adam is 17 I believe, pretending to be 21. His girlfriend is in the 23 range, I don’t recall exactly.

There are explicit sex scenes, the first of which involved Adam using an ace bandage to hold his erection down and using a strapon to have sex with her.

In the second one he claims to be using a strapon but is, in reality, using his actual penis.

Which is fucking rape.

The book doesn’t try to justify this, it somehow manages to do something worse.

This second scene is one of the last in the book. After he pulls out he lays down next to her and confesses that he’s not trans. She responds “I know.”

She says after they first had sex she started fantasizing about him as a “real guy” (yes quote) and that the image stuck in her mind and she started subconsciously imagining him with a penis.

And it gets worse.

So he goes back to ohio and she sleeps with other girls (because for some reason she decides not to break up with this cis 17 year old who lied about his identity literally raped her) and one night he gets drunk and calls her a bitch and a fucking whore and whatever, and THAT’S apparently the point she thinks that maybe they should break up.

And one day they message eachother to catch up i think maybe he graduated at this point idk but hes planning on visiting his sister in new york and they wanna meet up and

She tells him about her new boyfriend.

Get ready for it

Cis. Man.

So. We have

An underage cishet boy lying about being an adult trans man in order to trick a lesbian into dating him!

A scene in which he actually rapes her!

The lesbian in question becomes attracted to cis men making Adam, essentially, conversion therapy!

Apparently people have been adopting dogs and either killing them themselves or dropping them to a kill shelter (and one even said they were flying them to poor Asian areas to be eaten) under the Twitter hashtag #pitbulldropoff

This is completely cruel and evil and word needs to get around about these demons so everyone knows what these demons are planning to do to dogs once they get ahold of them.

If you know someone or if you yourself is planning to give away a pitty by craigslist soon, DONT and wait for awhile!!!! They act like they’re going to adopt them and act all nice then they get rid of them, don’t be fooled!!

I am a veterinary science major who has studied many breeds and their behaviors and other traits. You don’t think labs have killed kids? That goldens haven’t? Pitbull attacks are the ones that are showed to media the most, while other instances of breeds attacking is kept on the downlow because of the appearances and stigmas around the breed. The main reasons for pitbull attacks? Their owners. Either they were abused or were not kept inside. Many attacks by dogs are also energetic excited pooches wanting to play but not knowing their strength (it’s how my doberman has left me scratched up).

 I have been attacked by chow mixes, labs, collies, etc, but never a pitbull. I have a pit and she has only ever saved my life MULTIPLE times. You can’t justify the murder of an entire breed.

If you treat a dog violently they’ll be violent, simple as that. It always astounds me that people don’t notice the connection between babies and dogs— just like you have to teach babies not to bite when they’re frustrated, you have to teach dogs not to bite when excited. So treat a dog like you’d treat a baby and teach them.

Anyway, pit bulls aren’t violent. They’re sweet little goofballs who want a belly rub. If you’re going to give your dog up for adoption, send them to no kill organizations, a trusted friend, or well known youtubers who rehabilitate pets. (This is a stretch, I know, but it’s better than handing them off to a stranger.)

Do not give your dog to PETA.

They will kill your dog. They hate pitbulls and euthanize 90% of animals in their care.

I have a similar view. It’s this weird bit where I’ve never understood why everyone was so against RuPaul. Like, Ru was a gateway to accepting LGBT+ folks for A LOT of people. And now it seems like its every week I see something Ru is doing or saying or someone Ru is having on his podcast or his show and my jaw drops. It just doesn’t make any sense.

This recent season of Drag Race All Stars has been fairly unnerving because of it and something seemed REALLY off all season. I couldn’t exactly pin down what it was but it felt like this weird obligation for the last few episodes. I mean, the queens are great or whatever but it just felt…wrong for some reason. And Ru is just constantly calling the queens ‘whores’ and ‘bitches’ (which is not new) but like…a lot of the queens consider themselves artists. Like Sasha Velour from last season was doing this art-of-gender thing and what? The host of the show is over there calling all the queens bitches and nasty whores or whatever. I understand that is part of the culture, but the culture can change ya know. Drag is art, or it totally can be, and it makes it really weird when the figurehead for drag simultaneously calls it an art while also demeaning the femininity of the art by calling them things their oppressors would call them. I would say it’s trying to detach the putrid meaning from those words, but Ru identifies as a man. 

The point is, this is rough. Ru keeps saying he’s going to educate himself and adapt to the responsibility the the show should have, but Ru has constantly proven that he is not willing to change even an inch. To take it a step forward, drag as an artform has grown past Ru. It’s an artform that can really challenge binary gender stereotypes and show that gender performance can be a form of meaning exterior to the regular ways that we are told to behave with our genders. Yet one of it’s biggest figureheads has not included transfolk and actively prohibits their participation, has made no such space for dragkings as he doesn’t see it as ‘real drag’ (a man in a dress), constantly demeans the artists on the show by making them conform to a cartoon character level performance outlook and calling them disgusting whores, and actively platforms some pretty vile folks. 

If you’re the type to harass folks about their gender identity, race, religion, disability, whatnot

i dunno if any of the artists he ropes in know that it’s a fetish thing but i knew right away. upon reading it i was like “waaaaait this sounds like that one guy from DeviantArt that was obsessed with wonder bread” and, lo and behold, 

He had lots of talk about consumerism, slavery, and capitalism and why there were all good things. Almost to the point of a religion to him. He tried talking to me about his commission of a comic of, I believe, Asami cutting down a rainforest and industrializing it, and like weird undertone of loving sandwhiches. Everything he talked about in this aspect came down to sandwhiches with him.

He has spent thousands of dollars if not more on commissions for Asami abusing Korra

And the list goes on to other really strange stuff, but none of it inherently sexual

The only time I’ve known something sexual was his commission for shadman, which was, to the best of my memory, him asking Shadman to draw Korra and Asami abuse porn with like focus on Korra having a limp dick, that’s the most I remember from the screenshots he showed of his conversation with shadman, which he did show off and talk about how unprofessional shadman was for refusing to draw his commission.

The way he fucking talks is just something mind blowing to see a man this far stuck in his own little hole.

On a more dark and serious subject, he has been fired from his job and possibly disowned from his family for this kinda stuff. He talked about assaulting, sexually assaulting, and insulting the race or sexuality of his coworkers. People caught on he was kinda fucked up, and emailed his boss over that stuff and got him fired. I got to watch as he complained about it and the entire forum that he was on talking about it blew up for a good solid 2 hours over how fucked up this guy is for thinking he did nothing wrong, and him insulting everyone. It was absolutely bonkers.

Infinity Train is greenlit!

Here are the basics that I’m allowed to get into:

We were developing IT over the summer of 2017 after I stopped working on Close Enough. It was greenlit that August and I’ve been keeping it a secret ever since then, the burden of it slowly killing me every day.

We have a small crew, but we’re fully staffed up.

All our voice actors are the same as the pilot. Ashley Johnson is Tulip, Ernie Hudson is Atticus, and Jeremy Crutchley and myself are Glad-One and Sad-One respectively.

Fan response helped Infinity Train get greenlit. It’s hard to ignore that many views, emails, and petition signers. You guys helped a ton! I can only hope that what we make lives up to your expectations.

When it comes out, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by some of the stuff we’re trying to do with it. You could also hate it and make youtube videos about all the lost potential! Anything is possible and you’re your own person! Either way, it’s my first show and I’m gonna give it my best shot, and I hope that you’ll join me in watching it when it comes out in 2019.
