giving up on the "patriarchy hurts men too" gambit, i thought it might work when i saw laci green do it ten years ago but it has run its course and id like to start telling men that patriarchy overwhelmingly benefits them again

boys are allowed to cry more than girls are, their emotions are taken more seriously, their loneliness is a graver tragedy, their oppressions are more legal cards to play, the online left pivoted hardcore to placating men and winning over apathetic young men and it hasn't done any good

i could probably spin something similar about white supremacy. we're the descendants of people who chose comfort over culture and community, isolated by the violence that created the spaces we live in, whatever. maybe some of that's true, but it feels disingenuous to call this being hurt by white privilege. itd be more accurate to say it's the price of those overwhelming benefits that being a white U.S citizen grants us.
