BULBASAUR BEING #001 IN DETECTIVE PIKACHU!
Dave Vanian & The Damned
Now aged 60, Vanian, a one-time gravedigger, still retains much of the aesthetic “otherness” that has distinguished him from his punk rock peers since 1976; forty years on, the figure he cuts in both the genre and his own band remains singular as ever. Despite the gleeful chaos that followed in their early wake—smashed drum kits, overturned microphones largely thanks to Sensible and drummer Rat Scabies—Vanian is a man of an intensely private sensibility, all showman onstage and eschewing the public eye off it. Aesthetically he prefigured the now-rote brand of capital-G Goth; in the earliest images of the band he’s resplendently pallid, with the lidded eyes of a silent film star and leather jacket collar worn up, a la Dracula. Later came the frilled poet blouses and two-toned mane of the ‘80s; these days he favors an onstage look that skews even more Edwardian. He brought references from cult icon Vampira to Gothic literature into The Damned’s oeuvre, and made sweeping, melodic tracks staples among the work of a band once synonymous solely with three-minute infernos.

full offense but i need intimacy soon or i’ll collapse maybe
“Vampires, burial, death: inter the corpse where the road forks, so that when it springs from the grave, it will not know which path to follow. Drive a stake through its heart: it will be stuck to the ground at the fork, it will haunt that place that leads to many other places, that point of indecision. Behead the corpse, so that, acephalic, it will not know itself as subject, only as pure body. The monster is born only at this metaphoric crossroads, as an embodiment of a certain cultural moment—of a time, a feeling, and a place. The monster’s body quite literally incorporates fear, desire, anxiety, and fantasy (ataractic or incendiary), giving them life and an uncanny independence. The monstrous body is pure culture. A construct and a projection, the monster exists only to be read: the monstrum is etymologically “that which reveals”, “that which warns,” a glyph that seeks a hierophant. Like a letter on the page, the monsters signifies something other than itself: it is always a displacement, always inhabits the gap between the time of upheaval that created it and the moment into which it is received, to be born again. These epistemological spaces between the monster’s bones are Derrida’s familiar chasm of différance: a genetic uncertainty principle, the essence of the monster’s vitality, the reason it always rises from the dissection table as its secrets are about to be revealed and vanishes into the night.”
— Thesis I: The Monster’s Body is a Cultural Body - Monster Culture (Seven Theses), by Jeffrey Jerome Cohen (via super-villains)
why are we still here? just to suffer? every day a man somewhere wakes up and decides to become a film major
I have a theory that firework stands are run by the fae
1. Appear seemingly overnight, like mushrooms, in any and all local parking lots.
2. No one knows where they came from or who owns them.
3. Always staffed by folks with the smile of something not-human attempting to adopt human mannerisms.
4. No one ever steals from them, despite the fact that they’re left untended all night, because it just Is Not Done.
5. After the 4th, vanish overnight without a trace and will not be seen again until next June.
6. They’ll sell you the Good Stuff if you give them your name.
I made a generator to find out about your supernatural partner because human partners are out of fashion now
I’m screaming my boyfriend is legit a “standoffish siren who falls in love with my eyes” im dead af
