Notice how they remove all blame on Lestat for literally everything bad that has ever happened in the show and books, and in some instances even makes him the victim instead.
> book Lestats wanted the vampire apocalypse, but in the show it's actually Gabriella's manipulation (he is now the victim)
> Lestat is abusive to Louis and Claudia, oh it's the fault of Akasha's blood actually (absolves him of guilt)
> Lestat never threatened Claudia, she was lying (absolves him of guilt)
> In the book every vampire hates Lestat's music and wanted him to stop, now they're all pro great conversion and wants him to make more music (but Gabriella has to forced him to make music which again makes him the victim)
> He never left Nicki and was there all the time as a caring partner and never abandoned Nicki for Armand to care for at all. Nicki totally just chopped his own hands off because he's crazyyyy and this was not exacerbated by Lestat abandoning him like in the book.
> In the book he hears Armand's story about Marius and decided he was a great guy and wanted to seek him out. In the show Marius was actually the one who found him and took him in which erases the whole "Lestat heard about Marius being a pedo white supremacist and thought he was a cool guy" problem.
All of his flaws has literally been externalised and the blame placed on others, now he's just the perpetually helpless victim who has zero agency in anything at all.

please read this even if you're not indian. especially if you're not indian.
you've seen the jokes. india is "dirty", indians are "everywhere", why don't they fix their own country. ok. let me tell you why, and what's happening right now while nobody's watching.
first, the history you skipped: britain ruled india for two centuries and drained it. economist utsa patnaik's research estimates around $45 trillion in today's money was taken. the india that got independence in 1947 was one of the poorest countries on earth. every "why is india like this" question starts there. you don't get to profit off a robbery and then mock the crime scene.
now, what's happening RIGHT NOW:
in may the question paper for NEET leaked. that's the national medical entrance exam. over 2.2 million students took it. cancelled. years of studying, families' savings poured into coaching, gone overnight because someone sold the paper. students died by suicide after. these were kids who wanted to be doctors.
and out of that came a protest movement. a gen z group called the cockroach janta party, started by a 30 year old named abhijeet dipke, got 22 million instagram followers within DAYS. they've been doing a sit-in at jantar mantar in delhi demanding education minister dharmendra pradhan resign.
and then there's sonam wangchuk. if you've watched 3 idiots, he's the real engineer the character was based on. built solar schools in ladakh. invented ice stupas so himalayan villages have water. spent his whole life on education. he's 59 and he's been on hunger strike for 17+ days now. reporters went to see him this week and he was too weak to talk. and the troll armies are calling him "anti national" and "foreign funded". a man starving himself for other people's children. that's the thing here, anyone who asks a question is suddenly a traitor.
it's not one incident, it's everywhere you look:
• infrastructure worth thousands of crores failing within months of the ribbon cutting. tunnels collapsing in regions where heavy rain is a guarantee, not a surprise.
• youth unemployment near 10% for ages 15 to 29, 13.6% in cities. in a country of 1.42 billion where more than half the population is young.
• only about the top 3% of indians earn above 10 lakh a year. meanwhile billionaire wealth keeps ballooning and the headlines celebrate it.
• manipur burned for over two years. an ethnic conflict, tens of thousands displaced, and the prime minister barely said the word manipur while it happened.
• journalists raided. critics' houses bulldozed. activists sitting in jail for years without trial under laws like UAPA. our press freedom ranking has cratered.
• even the petrol is a fight now, ethanol blending pushed through while drivers complain about their engines and get no straight answers.
and through all of it, the PM, who came to power on religious polarisation (americans, sound familiar?), travels abroad for photo ops and has not held one single open press conference in over a decade. not one.
what i'm asking:
if you're not indian: share this. our media mostly won't cover any of it because the big outlets are owned by the same billionaires the government serves. the only reason wangchuk's fast is getting any coverage is people refusing to look away.
if you ARE indian: speak up even if you're comfortable. especially if you're comfortable. join the protests. add to this, correct me, translate it. staying quiet is a choice when nothing in this post touches your life.
india is not "dirty". india was robbed, and it's being robbed again, from the inside this time. but it's also the country where a 59 year old will starve for strangers' kids and 22 million young people will rally behind a party literally named after cockroaches, because cockroaches survive everything.

I consider myself a real hater but sometimes you really do go too far with haterism. once I had to break mutuals with someone bc they hated the entire art form of poetry and the final straw was when they started hateposting about soup. The food
i think if you showed minecraft or fortnite to a little medieval peasant boy he would probably start writing parodies of church hymns. it’s human nature

For everyone who ‘used to love reading’ but now hasn’t finished a book in years, you CAN get it back. Genuinely start bringing a book (preferably short and either fiction or a non fiction topic you already really enjoy) everywhere you go and when you have 5-20 mins waiting for the bus or at the doctors office or mechanic or whatever, get out your book and read it! You don’t have to finish it quickly or even read it often but it is so good for your brain and fun to get into the habit of reading more (and replacing being on your phone for those moments). Source: I read 0 books in 2023 and I’ve read 12 in the first 4 months of 2026

Hey...so like...don't get me wrong. I fucking LOVE Devil's Minion.
But what we got this season was just scraps left over at a table when we KNOW it has the potential to be SO much more. Daniel and Armand deserve WAY more than what this shit-ass script gave them.
Also, I'll be referring to the Past Devil's Minion/Alice theory that I'm shamelessly plugging here. In case y'all don't know about it somehow.
Just gonna go over some of the half-assed DM crumbs we got this season...
Okay, so, we got a vague "Transformational Trauma" line from Lestat & Daniel in episode 1. Does that go anywhere? No. Daniel refuses to open up and the camera refuses to look deeper. We don't see any scenes that indicate Daniel is thinking of Armand. He's stoned and doing nothing else (the theme for this season apparently).
We got this, at least, in episode 2.

And we saw how it worked later. I'm sorry, I'm just not buying this whole...ah. Their bond is SUPER SPESHUL thing.
Like, on paper it sounds really cool and sick which it is but also...like many things this season, it feels unearned.
WHY is this happening? Why them specifically? We have had NO build up for these mfers. Objectively, there is NO screentime to indicate anything between them that would create such an crazy ass power. We KNOW as viewers that Armand is obsessed with Daniel in season 2, but we don't see ANY of the proof in season 3. Yes, Armand admits to stalking him, but WHY?
Daniel has not had a single fucking moment to think or TALK about any of his shit with Armand this season. Armand hasn't been able to talk to anyone either. It's frustrating meeee
If anything, I would've loved for this ability to reveal itself LATER in their established relationship. It would've been an awesome moment for Daniel to be able to find Armand at a crowded Lestat concert as Akasha's causing chaos because of this ability revealing itself.
OR OR Daniel has known "someone" was stalking him for 50 years but didn't know who, so this is his sort of ability manifesting but also affecting Armand.
ORRRR Daniel's always had some psychic potential (fits Anne's world) and this is his power manifested as a vampire. He can focus on finding anyone in the world if he thinks about them. If he's always thinking about Armand, that's who he'll see more often than not.
Those are just a few ideas! It's not perfect but like...I feel like this would have given the ability and their relationship some flavor to them. I know it's weird but this ability just makes them seem like teehee SPESHUL soul matez with no buildup. Which is NOT what the relationship is about. Augh!

Okay, we FINALLY get a DM reunion.
"Hey, Dad."
Can we fucking chill out with the dad jokes from this season's OOC Daniel? Devil's Minion should not be reduced to an incest joke. Wth this dumbfuck logic, that means Louis should be calling Lestat "Dad" too. It's fucking stupid and I hate this choice. I feel like it's trying to compare DM to Gabistat at times. But I digress.
So, this scene kinda sucked in my opinion. This monologue from Daniel just felt very OOC and it felt like some guy ranting about nothing. Why is Daniel blaming Armand for everything that's gone wrong in his life? He doesn't even know Armand stalked him yet. This should have been said to Armand LATER, not now. The monologue makes Daniel look like a pussy who can't own up to his own mistakes. Ironic considering what Daniel says at the end.
Also, I complained about this before but, Daniel should NOT be using Tiktok language at all. This man does not give a flying fuck about Tiktok and would think all of its slang stupid. It is stupid.
This scene feels like a teardown of weirdly, both Armand & Daniel. Are the writers stupid? Do they think DM is just a hatefuck relationship?
Would've been nice if we heard Armand's letter. Or GIVEN US A FUCKING SCENE OF DANIEL READING IT LATER. He crunches it up and shoves it in his pocket. He later gets the balls to read it and is touched. That would've been nice. Alas! "Bottom Twink" is all we get, silly us for expecting something different from a DM reunion.
I want to be clear--I'm not saying Daniel shouldn't be ranting at Armand. Yes, he would be mad. But we should have heard them TALKING to each other. Both of them arguing/bickering back and forth would have worked WAY better.
But I feel like this scene is just one of many underlying issues this season the writers seem to have with Armand in particular. They despise his ass, and it really shows. He's not allowed to fight back, despite last season indicating how ruthless he can get. Why would he not be willing to defend himself and point out that Daniel's divorces were his fucking fault, not Armand's?
Again, seems like a trend this season to blame Armand for everything from the burning of the Library of Alexandria and 9/11. Armand can not talk back to the love of his life, he's just supposed to sit there and take it.
(Gif Credit @ dopamine)
This was an iconique scene for sure. Also side note, glad it happened in Philly lmao. The Gang Get Killed By Vampires.
This was definitely the strongest scene of the season overall because we actually got to hear BOTH of them TALK for fucking once instead of just them mogging in the corner. The issue is that we get this amazing love confession from Armand and this shot of Daniel and that's it.
(Gif Credit @ dopamine)
We don't see Daniel's reaction to that. Yes, we got a face, but what happens next? Did he walk backwards away from Armand? Afraid of him and the potential of a relationship with him? Did Armand leave Daniel to think on it?
What the fuck happened? Why couldn't they have given them more fucking time? It just feels...odd. It's definitely the strongest DM scene this season, but it still pales in comparison to 2x5.
Yeah, I'm going there. 2x5 had both of them dissecting each other and their core personalities. They weren't doing it to bang each other but to survive.
This conversation feels rather unearned after minimal DM scenes and maybe an unpopular opinion, I would've preferred this as an extended 10 min scene saved for the SEASON FINALE. That's just me though haha.
(Gif Credit @ dopamine)
This scene was another strong one. But again. We get slapped in the face with exposition and no reaction from Daniel. It just moves at a breakneck pace with no breathing space for Armand or Daniel to react to anything. I feel like it does the relationship such a disservice to not dissect how these revelations make them both feel. Even if you still keep the scene as is, at least let Daniel react to it in another scene. Let him talk to Lestat, Louis, fucking ANYONE about it. Fuck it, let him talk with some rando at a bowling alley. ANYTHING.
I...honestly can't even figure out if Armand explaining a few of Daniel's worst moments indicates that Past DM is real. It's...left kind of vague? Maybe it's real, but also, is it? Armand could just have been watching like some creeper for 50 years and never initiated. But that's fucking BORING, man. Past DM is a compelling concept, and they fumbled it so bad.
You know, the fact that they couldn't even CONFIRM it means they probably want to save it as a reveal for later. Or they genuinely did not give a flying fuck about Armand or Daniel this season and wanted to save their relationship for next season. It's a future them problem to figure out.
And yes, before more people say "Stop whining, DM wasn't until book 3!" Bro. This is a TV show. They've already planted the seed of DM explicitly in season 2 episode 5. There were hints before that too, but that was the biggest DM flag. Louis/Lestat can't carry the entire season, you need to flesh out other characters and their relationships to add something extra to this season.
I was not expecting DM to bang nasty every episode this season. I was expecting YEARNING LOOKS throughout the season and past DM reveal at the finale. I would have been fine with that.
Too bad Loustat got JACK SHIT this season. DM had to carry this season on their backs despite, what, 10 mins of screentime?
Gabistat was trying to carry this season, but it was really embarrassing, and everyone disliked that.
And for some reason, now they're just releasing revenge porn together? Why would Armand even endorse that? I mean...he did hate Gabi in the books I guess?
This clip was just plain weird, IMO. I wish they leaned into a comedic angle--have Daniel try to be a cool Youtuber but make horrible editing choices. (HORNS BLARING)
I'm sorry, I can't remember right now, but someone on the cast--maybe a director--did post an alt take of the clip and it was WAY better than what we got IMO.
I cannot find the gif right now, but i PROMISE to upload it ASAP once I do.
Basically, it's the clip above, but DM are genuinely eyefucking each other and Armand is just looking at him with such yearning looks and why didn't we get that? This video was stilted and awkward. Why not use the more "passionate" clip to help with the DM buildup? Nah. Fucking bizarre ass choices made this season fr.
And I guess DM just said fuck it and cut off Louis & Lestat's head for some reason. Yeah.
So, all season the Great Conversion (bs) is the underlying arc. Lestat and Gabi are actively fanning the flames. Armand is clearly against it since it violates the Great Laws that he was brainwashed into supporting for hundreds of years. But honestly. The Laws aren't that bad. It's literally just pest control. We, as humans, don't want vampires taking over the fucking planet.
So, why are Armand & Daniel being framed as the BAD GUYS for actively going against an objectively BAD IDEA? It's just one of the many choices that makes me scratch my head. I would NOT have minded this if it was explored more in detail.
Obviously, Daniel would be against making more vamps because they could kill his daughters and ex-wives. He also has transformational trauma and wouldn't want anyone to go through it. Did we get any of this argument presented on screen via dialogue or body language or scenes? Ha! No.
When did Daniel become so enraged that he was so willing to cut off Lestat's head? I guess it's from when Lestat pranked him by not telling everyone about Nicky? Okay. So, why do I have to extrapolate that from so few scenes of Daniel? Could Armand have fanned Daniel's flames by reminding him how much of a dick Lestat has been the entire time? Was Daniel doing this out of hurt anger or trying to protect humanity? Obviously he'd be a petty bitch, always has been, but NONE OF IT WAS SHOWN ON SCREEN.
So, my point is, why are Armand & Daniel actively being reduced to mustache-twirling villains? Why do we have to figure out their convoluted motivations off screen? Again, if these dumbfuck writers decided to give either Daniel or Armand more screentime and dialogue that wasn't Tiktok bullshit, we could have avoided all this. Alas!
(Gif Credit @ mymycorrhizae)
Uh, what? They just...became vampire companions off-screen? What the fuck? I mean, don't get me wrong, fuck YEAH, but...what? Where did this come from? We SEE NOTHING.
Side note, I still don't quite understand the logic of all this. They lop off their heads, yeah. Why did Daniel have to take Lestat's head far away? Was his fucking head crawling around like The Thing until Armand sent it away with Daniel????
It's a pretty fucking big deal that this 500-year-old vampire is so willing to call his new fledgling his companion. Companion is the equivalent of marriage with these vamp mfers. DM already hit second base and we are getting none of it on screen? Rude.
(Gif Credit @ mymycorrhizae)
Uh, so...did we get past Devil's Minion or not? Did Armand just stare at Daniel for 50-odd years and never initiate anything? Daniel noticed nothing? Lmao.
I am forever going to be furious that these two didn't even share a scene TOGETHER ON SCREEN. Even if it was just Daniel walking away with the bowling bag and Armand saying something to him, it would have been better than nothing. Cuz nothing is what we got! Yay!
And, I find it just so fucking sad that poor Eric and Assad keep having to fill in the blanks for us in interviews. We have no idea what the fuck is going on, and they know that too because they're as confused as we are. So, they're helping us out as much as they can. Here's one of many examples:
(Source: Assad Zaman Confirms Armand DID Buy Daniel His Floral Shirt)
WHY DID THIS HAVE TO BE CONFIRMED OFF-SCREEN? It's not like we needed a 15 min DM dressing each other in Kohl's montage (note to self: write that fic) but like...SOMETHING.
ANYTHING to indicate this.
I mean, this is a fucking big deal for Daniel. The entire damn season he's been dressed in band shirts from the 80s and suddenly he's got style? No explanation whatsoever? Oh, Armand bought it...so Armand's just dressing Daniel up now? is it a "you're mine" message? Or Armand wanted to give Daniel a gift? ANYTHING. PLEASE. Christ.
So yes, this is my long rant.
I'm mildly happy about the DM crumbs we got but they felt like spiteful crumbs thrown at us. It's bittersweet. They clearly don't want to "play" with Armand or Daniel's characters this season and it shows from their lack of screentime or dedicated scenes. They didn't get any screentime to develop on their own or with each other and the scenes we got didn't tell us much.
Thanks for reading. Happy to chat with anyone that's willing to engage in a reasonable discussion. Also please correct me if I got any info wrong. I'm still not ready to rewatch this ass season lmao.
Blocking anyone who says "hurr durr you just wanted them to have Sexe" No. Bro.
The show's been off for 6 years and the cw is barely a network anymore. The WB is about to be absorbed. This social media manager is just destiel posting for the love of the game at this point

All it means when people say “you’re speaking from a place of privilege” is that you’re likely to underestimate how bad the problem is by default because you are never personally exposed to that problem. It’s not a moral judgement of how difficult your life is.
