I never see anyone mention that Richard tried to kill himself with sleeping pills in the book??? To be honest I completely forgot until I was listening to the adio book. "I pulled out my desk drawer and counted the rest of my sleeping pills. Candy colored pretty's bright on a sheet of paper. There where still quite a lot of them, plenty for my purposes. Would Mrs. Corcoran feel better if she knew this twist. That her stolen kills killed her son killer." Why does everyone forget that Richard was literally set on killing himself that night?

the idea of laura palmer is haunting because she's a woman suffering and people know she's suffering and don't do anything and then when she dies they make her into a saint and grieve her because she was too young to have gone through all that suffering like it's truly about how women's pain is only put in evidence when it's too late

i think a fundamental misunderstanding of laura palmers character is the idea that she was secretive and private about her sadness. while it’s true that there was a lot she didn’t let people in on in her life her sadness was definitely not part of That. she was going door to door sobbing at peoples houses and also just in any public space possible. it’s not that people didn’t understand she was sad it was just that nobody gaf

someone should make a social network (2010) style biopic movie about the rise and fall of panic! at the disco because it's literally the same story. young awkward nerdy guys in the early 2000s make something cool and then have the worst friendship breakup of all time that's reminiscent of a divorce and now decades later the thing they made is lame as fuck. one guy became evil after they split up and the other guy disappeared off of the face of the earth. every man involved was so misogynistic that the story has undertones of a doomed gay relationship (a comically large hook drags me off stage and I am shot like a lame horse)

As much as Richard is a bad person I think the fandom gravely underestimates his trama. Like no one EVER talks about how his dad literally beat him? Compared to the other characters who get paragraphs of an analysis based on their childhood,trauma, and their mental health issues, Richard is barely acknowledged. ALSO evey single time, instead of talking about how something is clearly wrong with Richard and he even has lots of sychopathic tendencys and how his trama has affected him, chalk his actions down to him just being annoying and a bad person. I'll probably make a longer post about this.
