We need more gothic fiction where men are going mad and running around in billowing nightgowns and women are brooding, byronic, and morally dubious

lowkey i want more "problematic" aromantic and/or asexual representation. i want aro/aces who are unhappily married or in romantic relationships that they abandon for entirely selfish and not necessarily sympathetic reasons. i want aro/aces who are bitterly jealous of their friends' romantic partners for making them happy in ways they never could. i want aro/aces who are corrupted by power because they can't find satisfaction in other people. and i want romantic relationships that are ruined by friendships or even the allure of isolation. i want love to lose.

i want a character in a romantic relationship to sincerely feel like they're cheating on their partner with their friend(s) or their work/quest/whatever. and i want them to break up about it with the same degree of drama and grief that would have happened if they'd actually been having an affair.

i feel like im pretentious about repression or whatever like oh they can identify and name their repressed desires thats like the boring level one repression wheres the level of repression where they cant even begin to contemplate their own desires because contemplating them is a slippery slope to actually having desires which is a slippery slope to everything

We need more women characters who are Male Protagonists. You know. Slightly haggard. She's splashing cold water on her face and gripping the edge of the sink staring in the mirror for a minute. She's coping badly with her deadwife

My favorite visual effect for magic is when it's physical. Tattoos, scars, and markings dance on skin. Shadows move like spilled ink. The world twists and tears. Muscles convulse when casting spells. Incantation fatigue. All magic results in an audible, heavy impact. Darkness where light fled.

I can't get over the misogyny of making it canon that Claudia claimed lestat threatened to rape her on the train, just to have that be a lie she told. They had a woman lie about a man sexually harassing her to ruin his image. It doesnt matter that her actions are justified in a watsonian reading. These are fictional characters who were designed to say and do these things. There is a vast history not only of women, but girls specifically being considered biologically predisposed to lie about rape, especially at the hands of their fathers. This show just cares so much about rape victims that they have to promote rape culture, eh?

mun papalla ja mummulla on kylällä tuttava joka melkeen joka päivä kävelyttää koiraa mummulan ohi, ja pappa aina kun näkee sen jupisee et "siinä se mennee taas se kaunis mies". se on minusta ihan tavallisen näkönen, mutta nimihän tulleeki siitä että se joskus kymmeniä vuosia sitte oli kännissä nähny papan baarin eteisessä ja sanonu kovaan ääneen ihan pöyristyneenä että "jo on siinä ruma mies!" joten tässä talossa hänet tunnetaan sitte Kauniina miehenä vielä noin 40v myöhemmin :D
