I do genuinely believe that the Light only looks that way to Simon because it's Simon who's looking at it. The reason it looks like him moments before his inevitable demise, in fact moments after the black box is secured and his mission is effectively accomplished and the Blood Tree becomes an inevitability, is because he's the point of view of observation. Were it anyone else (the Eel, the SM-8 crew, even Ava), it would have looked different for them. Perceptions and points of observation are deeply important theme hinges in the movie, and it's not a coincidence that in some earlier concepts, the Light looked like a black hole or an eye.

maybe it's just because i spend my time scrounging around libraries and itch.io and such but i'm often bewildered whenever people talk about everything becoming the same or death of art or everyone being afraid to Get Weird with It. i promise people are still out there getting weird with it. the hegemonic mainstream art remains hegemonic and mainstream like usual. counterculture remains counterculture. as usual. interesting and somewhat off-putting zines cost a little more but the cost of living is pretty high right now, and i don't particularly mind giving an independent artist a few more bucks for their work

i think i just get confused by anything that sounds like 'this countercultural, challenging, or otherwise disruptive artistic sensibility isn't present in the most popular or mainstream corporate media'. did we expect it to? why are we trying to buy clothes at the soup store

we have to start running a massive PSA campaign to young gay people so everyone understands there is a difference between being a dom and being a top and between being a sub and being a bottom. and also that sometimes you are neither a sub nor a bottom and you're just like shy. we need to be handing out flyers we need ads at every train station spreading the word

studies will describe your condition like "profoundly impacts the quality of life" and "dramatically reduces productive capacity" and "debilitating and incapacitating symptoms and worse prognosis" and then tell you that professionals are not often familiar with it and it's often underdiagnosed and recognized at more advanced stages if at all. and they will expect you to not be unfathomably angry about that!

kind of embarrasing when your life is actually going pretty well but you still have mental health problems. it's like when you drink water but still have a headache like what the hell. you're telling me this isn't because of the Situations i'm actually just like this. i want a refund.

sometimes that character just wouldn’t hide an injury. it’s a great trope but only if they would do that.

and sometimes the character wouldn’t try to push through sickness and do their day job or whatever. again i see what you’re going for but sometimes in these fics something else can happen. open your hearts and minds to scenarios such as “the character is actually pretty expressive about their needs and is willing to complain a lot but the other characters still don’t take it that seriously for whatever reason and have to deal with the guilt and quencies after”. or “the character takes a rest at the appropriate time (or earlier!) but then faces punishment/being ignored/hostility for doing so and that is what worsens their condition into a serious one.” or “the character is a practical one who informs people sensibly and takes every necessary step, yet to their distress their condition still spirals out of the control.” or whatever else but just do you see what i’m saying not every character is a silent sufferer and that isn’t the only way to put them in a situation . we can innovate
