It would have been much harder to figure everything out if their roles had been reversed...
I saw a great cosplay of human!Rocky wearing overalls and others drawing him as James Ortiz and I also wanted to give it a go.
This doesn’t really tell us anything we didn’t already know, namely that Rudy acts as a mediator between Carol and Noelle and cuts down Carol’s harshness but what I think is interesting is Carol bought it up to Rudy meaning a) she’s not completely avoiding him b) she does legitimately seek out his input, possibly to validate her own opinions or because she expects him to calm her down but they’re relationship isn’t dead/non-communicative
It’s been commented by many that Noelle's new expressions in weird route make her look a lot like her mother, and I absolutely agree. So I thought about the reverse

So new chapter has given me some Kriselle-ish thoughts, because I think, or have a theory at least, that we learned an interesting new aspect to their childhood dynamic.
So you remember this line? Where Noelle makes it sound like she and Kris only hung out by proximity and their families being friends rather than genuine friendship between the two of them?
(And the entire fanbase went "me when I lie"?)
That's a pretty natural read on her wording; but after some lines here and there around chapter 5, in both the normal and weird routes, I don't think that's exactly what she meant.
I think she might've meant that she feels like she forced Kris into her proximity.
I think when the two were kids, Noelle was the kind of pushy and bossy one of the duo. Kris would prank her a lot, sure; but on the whole their dynamic was a lot of her telling them what to do.
Or at the very least, I think she may see it that way looking back. I can't say we have enough evidence to say this was actually true (although that would be a pattern for Kris if so); but from these lines, especially on the ferris wheel, I think it's possible she saw it that way. It's pretty natural to overinflate your own 'wrongdoings' like that; just ask Yellow.
But then Kris starts pulling away. For Dess-related reasons in reality, maybe with some troubled home life reasons and Carol's conspiracy reasons mixed in there too; but to Noelle, that could've also been proof Kris never even really liked hanging out with her:
They were just forced together by circumstance of their family being close, and Noelle made Kris do what she wanted the whole time. Obviously Kris hated her presence all along, and now that those circumstances have changed, they must be so happy to be rid of her, and to not get dragged around everywhere by her, and...oh hey, there's some parallels between the Kris & the player here.
Like I said, this is a pattern for Kris.
End result: despite Kris being the one she was closest too as a kid, Noelle can't really say in hindsight if what they had was friendship.
This may also be why her feelings on the weird route are...let's call them: more positive than many expected.
I mean, we know there were a lot of thoughts going through Noelle's head by the weird route's lake scene; but I think one of them might've been along the lines of:
"Oh, this is what I did to Kris, being done by Kris to me now. Yay!"
The weird route is a bunch of Kris telling Noelle what to do and them growing "closer" because of it. And if my read on Noelle's read on their childhood dynamic is anywhere close the mark, there are ways she could get some comfort from that.
It's fair play. Noelle getting what she feels guilty about putting Kris through that marred her memories of their friendship.
It's Kris reciprocating Noelle's actions. See? There aren't actually any hard feelings. They actually can be close with one side of the dynamic telling the other what to do.
It's a version of their friendship Noelle doesn't have to feel any guilt over. As long as Kris is the one telling her what to do then she's not at fault for anything she (thinks she) was in the past.
Although the morbidly funny thing is; this can lead to her telling Kris to tell her what to do & where to go (as seen if you don't say "Proceed"). And actually, she kinda does that in the normal route at times too.
Have I mentioned this happens a lot for Kris when you look into it?
Anyway I don't know; maybe I'm reading a lot out of, like, around 3 scenes or so. But the more I think about it, the more this seems kinda consistent with what we know about Noelle and her thoughts on Kris. As well as being consistent with...Kris's life in general.
