Thinking about this. So many people in the US are adult children
Ummm she's literally sensitive :/
The Locked Tomb series has the most fucked-up family in the galaxy. Everyone else go home.
I was going to dabble in some fanfic again at the end of the week as a nice little break for my brain.
Then my supervisor returned with ambitious ideas.

Between a text from an unknown number asking me out to dinner, and a far-right envelop in the mail, I'm feeling somewhat targeted this week.
There really needs to be coming of age stories for your 30s. Coming of age stories for teenagers and 20-somethings really doesn't do it for me anymore.
there should be coming of age stories for people turning 30

Whenever I look back on my writing that is a few years old, it's always such shit.
Me, creating characters: This one will have my general distance and lack of understanding her social surroundings. This one will have all of my anger and be a wrecking ball of self-destruction. And this one will be the responsible one who is faking it until she makes it but it's going to blow up in her face first. And this one--

This is what I tried to explain to US platforms like Patreon when they suspended my account for having a nude statue as the background image: I live in Europe, I can go and see a nude statue within a 5 minutes walk. Children can see them, they're not in some 18+ container. I will never understand those policies.
I recently learned that, a few years ago, the Vienna Tourism Board had such a problem with this that they opened an OnlyFans for their museums.
I hate this aspect of US culture and want to fight it viciously
And it NEEDS to be fought viciously. It's tyrannical.
This puritanical shit is, in addition to the previous commentary, also an extension of white supremacy and its beliefs that The (cis-het christofascist white) Man is the pinnacle of all existence and women, children, People of Color, and the Neither Cis Nor Het all exist as his servants. Why is being a prude part of this?
A child who cannot learn about sex cannot tell when The Man abuses them.
A woman who cannot learn about sex can only assume that every The Man is the same as hers, and there's no one better at sex, has a better-for-her penis, nor is a more caring lover out there, so there's no use in looking or waiting for him. She cannot learn what rape is, and that it is a crime. She cannot learn what abortion is, and take back power over her own body.
A queer person who cannot learn about sex will never find romantic or sexual contentment or fulfillment that The Man (and more importantly, his wife and children) might look upon and envy, as they will never learn anything but cis-het marriage exists; and The Man does not care how miserable or broken anyone else feels, as long as anyone and everyone he wants to fuck is sexually subservient and available to him.
People of Color who cannot learn about sex will fall into all of the above, plus without knowledge of birth control or planning, will keep birthing new servants so The Man can break as many as he pleases and never run out, and keep those servants in inescapable poverty.
THE EXTREME OF WANTING TO CONTROL EVERYONE'S LIVES THROUGH DENYING THEM THEIR OLDEST HUMAN INSTINCTS IS INCREDIBLY DAMAGING AND NOT AT ALL NORMAL. You have control over YOU, and that is it. And just the same, no one else should be allowed to take that control away from you.
Many governments, not just the US, are currently trying to take it from you. Fight them viciously.
It's so funny when college students in their twenties are surprised that staff continue to work through the summer and don't get free vacation without using personal time.
It's like when young children believe their teachers live at school.

On to the next adventure!
Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as âproblematicâ in class and our professor was like, âThatâs cool, but âproblematicâ doesnât really mean anything. It means that the thing youâre describing has a problem, and in and of itself thatâs not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else itâs not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like youâre trying to say that this is bad, but you donât want to say âbad.â Is that right?â
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the âbadâ thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, âIâm uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.â
Once we stopped calling things âproblematicâ and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, âthatâs racistâ or âthatâs misogynisticâ or âew capitalism grossâ out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, âUhhh... Iâm not sure whatâs so bad?â and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I canât help but think of this professor being like, âGood starting point, now letâs get specific.â I think when we have to commit to saying âthatâs ___â it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever weâre claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes itâs art, and it should be full of problems, because thatâs what art is.
