If youâve read the Silmarillion, you know who FĂŤanor was. If you donât, FĂŤanor was the dickhead who created the Silmarils: three indescribably beautiful and magical jewels that contained the light and essence of the world before it became flawed. They were the catalyst for basically every important thing that happened in the First Age of Middle Earth.
It is thought that the inspiration for the Silmarils came to FĂŤanor from the sight of Galadrielâs shining, silver-gold hair.
He begged her three times for single strand of her beautiful hair. And every time, Galadriel refused him. Even when she was young, Galadrielâs ability to see into otherâs hearts was very strong, and she knew that FĂŤanor was filled with nothing but fire and greed.
Fast forward to the end of the Third Age.
Gimli, visiting Lorien, is also struck by Galadrielâs beauty. During the scene where sheâs passing out her parting gifts to the Fellowship, Galadriel stops empty-handed in front of Gimli, because she doesnât know what to offer a Dwarf. Gimli tells her: no gold, no treasure⌠just a single strand of hair to remember her beauty by.
She gives him three. Three.
And this is why Gimli gets to be an Elf Friend, people. Because Galadriel looks at him and thinks he deserves what she refused the greatest Elf who ever livedâ- and then twice that. And because he has no idea of the significance of what sheâs just given him, but heâs going to treasure it the rest of his life anyway.
Just look at that smile on Legolasâs face in the last panel. He gets it. He knows the backstory. And Iâm pretty sure this is the moment he reconsiders whether Elves and Dwarves canât be friends after all.
Not to mention that Gimli is super polite and bashful about it. Heâs all âIâm not expecting you to give it, my lady, but you asked me to name what my heart desires, and Iâd like one hair from your golden head but srsly, not expecting you to give it to me~â and like heâs just so sweet and adorable and shy and honestly I love that scene so much!!!

the "came back wrong" trope except like... they didnt. like this mad scientists wife died, and so he studied necromancy, brought her back, and she came back and it all worked. like she came back exactly the same as she was before with literally no difference. but the scientist guy is like "oh no... what have i done.... shes Different now!!!! she came back Wrong!!!!" and shes just like. chilling. reading a book. cooking dinner. shes just so so normal but in the guys mind hes like "oh shes soooo weird" but shes just normal
The important thing about wool is that it continues to keep you warm even when itâs soaking wet.
Other natural fibers donât do this. In fact, quite the opposite. Campers and boaters are usually familiar with the phrase, âcotton kills.â If youâre wet in cotton or linen, your clothes actually sap heat from your body.
If you sink in a lake in late October like I did today, staying warm is important. I was rescued long before I wouldâve actually died, but cold makes your muscles seize up, which isnât good if you have to swim to land.
Which brings me around to life jackets. If the waterâs cold enough, you may only have five-ten minutes until your muscles seize (today I probably had 40-60, more than enough time to get to land if I hadnât been picked up), and youâll drown.
In a life jacket, even in extremely cold water, you can float semi-conscious for perhaps another 30 minutes or so before you actually freeze to death, which is usually when someone rescues you.
Whatâs more, you probably know that moving around on land warms you up. Jumping jacks, jogging in place, etc.
In water, moving actually makes you colder. You need to stay still curled up in a ball, which you can only do in a life jacket.
In wool AND life jacket, youâre warm, and your headâs above water, which is pretty much your only and entire goal.
If youâre allergic to wool, synthetics are available specifically for this purpose. I know I always say natural fibers are the way to go, but when it comes to safety, wear what protects you!
Yep! A really simple âexperimentâ I learned as a kid and now use in my own courses is sticking your hand in ice water. Compare moving it around in the water to curling it up in a fist. The contrast is stark!
To increase your survival time in on cold water, you want to curl up! If youâre with others, you want to huddle!
Again, both are only possible when wearing a life jacket!
I know a lot of people are reblogging this for writing reference, but I like to believe that 7,000 people on this site were actually continually living in fear about this specific situation and that when the time comes, Iâve prepared them with what they need to know to survive.
there is a tendency with history, i think, because weâre so far removed from it, to kind of forget that all of the people were people
a child 10,000 years ago left a handprint on a wall. they were fingerpainting. a viking climbs up a rock just to carve the words âthis is very highâ 10ft off the ground. somebody centuries⌠milennia⌠ago burned their dinner so thoroughly that they buried the ruined pot in the backyard rather than attempt to clean it. shakespeare got drunk and wrote dick jokes. tutankhamun was a little boy who liked ducks more than anything. a roman carves his name into a monument in another country saying âi was hereâ. a prisoner, centuries ago, in the tower of london scratches lines into the wall as a tally marking the days. a medieval monk scrawls in the margins bemoaning the boredom of his work.
every human being across history has said âi was here. i lived. i loved. i made something. i laughed. i cried. please do not forget meâ
most of us are not important enough that we will be remembered by name for more than a few decades. we are not kings or queens or great military leaders or innovators or influential artists, musicians, authors.
but all of us, every one, has a deep primal need to persist. we leave handprints on the wall, scratch our names into stones, carve initials into a tree, mark our growth as children on a wall, bury little time capsules. write in the margins of a book. hide notes behind the wallpaper.
reaching out into the future to some unknown human long after weâre gone to say
Somewhere far away from me
And impossibly long ago, now
A mother holds her child up high
To leave a handprint on the wall
A man I will never meet
Climbs a rock for fun
He writes a message on the stone
And he says âthis is very highâ
Somebody, once
Cooked a meal and burned it
Took the pot to the land outside their house
And buried the evidence
An Egyptian king
Thousands of years before my birth
Wore a shirt embroidered with little ducks
And kept it, lovingly, in a chest
In a prison cell within a tower
A man stretches out through centuries
And marks off the days of his sentence
As lines on the wall
A long-forgotten monk
Labours over a manuscript by candlelight
And writes in the margins
He is bored, and he has a hangover
They leave pieces of themselves behind
And they say
âI was here
I was here please do not forget me
I was alive and I loved and I got sick
I had a favourite animal
I was here. Do you love me?
I love youâ
Yes, I do.
I hold your life between my hands
And I see it, and I love you
I scratch my name into a rock
On a tree, I carve my initials
And the initials of someone I love
So very much
I bury a box in my garden
And I write in the margins
I reach into the future
To somebody I do not know
A stranger who will never know me
âHello, youâ I say
âI was here, once. I loved and
I got sick and I had a favourite colour
#op iâm *this* close to printing the poem and putting it on my wall
please do! i wrote it for you, stranger i will never meet
and if you print it then maybe somebody finds it, somewhere, in the back of a drawer in 100 years and hold it in their hands and love me as i love them

One thing I love about being a writer is being able to go back through a piece of text and remember everything associated with it.Â
Here, the scene you wrote at 3am, barely holding your head up, but fingers frantic to slam words on the keyboard.
There, a cheesy paragraph inspired by your own feelings of joy and wonder at the world. Something so sweet that you had to wiggle in your seat at the very thought.
Over here, the bit you were working on forever, because you couldnât get the words right. You wanted to escape, but still forged on through the mess until you reached the end.
A story might be a story in itself, but it also contains ghostly records of all the actions and emotions around it, things the reader will never see, but the writer will never forget.

all fanfiction is funnier and sexier and vastly better-written when you read it at three in the morning, in the dark, lying on your side, tucked into bed, with screen rotate turned off. thatâs just how it works. thatâs just facts.

I never understood âgo back to Africaâ, like. Y'all brought them here. You gonna pay to send them back? Back where? Did you keep your records? Everyone from everywhere lives here now, deal with it already.
I approve of the clapback, but it goes without saying, if you plan to do this please please please stay safe!! Too many of these horrible people carry weapons and are fueled by their own inferiority and rage. We all know what those people are capable of.
Part 1:Â âIt just cannot be that bad, can it?â
Itâs the first part of a mini-series âSent by godsâ. Iâve been working on this one for quite some time now. Itâs just pure fantasy, hope you enjoy it. The picture is not mine :)

He was a man of rare beauty. Everybody that ever met him was left starstruck by him. His blonde curls and green eyes left everybody intimidated. He never knew his father but he had an incredibly strong relationship with his mother. He was a starting but talented actor and he loved what he was doing.
She had just finished her clothing and costume design studies and was working in a clothing store part-time. She was hoping that sooner or later she will finally get an opportunity to work in a theatre or on some movie/tv series set to put what she had learned into action.
One day she got a call from an agency asking if she would like to join a team of costume designers for a new tv series âKill all loveâ. She accepted the offer almost instantly. She was very excited about moving forward.
It was very early morning and the rain just started pouring. It was the first day of shooting and a lot of people were all over the place. Everybody was excited and nervous at the same time. Y/N had never seen so many people working on one thing. It was an incredible opportunity for her and she made herself a promise, she wouldn't take it for granted.
She was working in a 15 people group and to her surprise, she was getting along with pretty much all of them.
âY/N, you have to dress up this young boy over here.â
âYes, Margaret. Iâm on it.â She politely answered and started doing her job. âYour name?â she asked.
âIâm Ben.â
She instantly noticed his green piercing eyes and could swear that he was looking straight into her soul. His blonde curls were a bit wet from the rain outside but it only enhanced his features. He looked like he just stepped down from a pedestal. She gave herself a mental slap on the face and reminded herself that she needs to work instead of developing crushes on every beautiful person that comes to get into the costume.
âNice to meet you, Ben. Iâm Y/N. Stand here for a second, Iâll go search for your clothes, ok?â
âSure.â He answered and the girl went to the furthest corner of the tent they were in. There was a huge rack of clothing. Every costume for every different scene hung neatly in the clothing bags. Each of them had names of an actor and a character they were playing. She found Benâs name pretty easily and brought the bag to him.
âHere, take it. Put these on and then Iâll add all the additional pieces, okay?â she smiled and waited for him to dress up. His costume wasnât complicated, but it had some pieces that only a costume-person could handle. They were having a pleasant conversation and just were getting to know each other. She couldnât help but admire him. He enchanted her with every word he said. Â
âItâs not the best weather for shooting, is it?â she asked.
âActually, it might be quite useful.â He objected her. âIt will set the mood for some very important scenes in the story.â
âMaybe. But have you seen the forecast? They say it will rain for a week. It might be the longest downpour in fifty years.â She raised an eyebrow and smirked.
âA load of bullshit, in my opinion.â
âAnd why is that?â she wondered.
âWhere Iâm from it rains pretty much all the time. It just cannot be that bad, can it?â he playfully answered.
******
And it sure as hell could. The rain didnât stop for 9 weeks straight. And it wasnât just pleasant rain. It was a constant downpour with lightning and thunder. The streets were full of water, half of the shops and restaurants were closed because of the flood in the city. People living in lower parts of the city were given shelter in the upper parts. Whole blocks were left empty and without a single person in the streets.
Y/N got lucky. She was living in the highest quarter of the city, but even on the first floor of her apartment building, there was water up to the ankles. She also got to keep her job, because the whole production was moved to the inside studio and everybody continued to work.
Y/N and Ben started to develop a very nice friendship that they both thought might last until the end of their time. They had so many things in common, but at the same time they disagreed on a lot of things and that only kept the conversation going. It was a friendship that motivated both of them to be a  better person every day.
âI promise, when this rain stops, Iâll show you my favourite coffee shop in this town.â He casually stated afternoon.
âItâs a deal,â she smiled and continued to put the missing pieces of his costume.
The same day he offered to accompany her on the way home. She knew he was living on the opposite side of town from her, but she kindly accepted his offer. She knew that she was getting herself into a huge mess, but she couldnât resist this man. Second, by the second she was falling in love with him, but she couldnât pull herself together to fight it. It was a fight she knew she had already lost, so why not enjoy moments like this?
By the time they reached her apartment the rain was so heavy, you couldnât see a person in front of you. Thunder and lightning were constantly beaming in the sky. It was dark and loud and scary. They both were drenched.
âMaybe you should just stay until it stops raining this heavily?â she hopefully offered.
âI wouldnât want to be a burden.â He objected.
âOh câmon. You accompanied me home, and now youâre soaking wet because of it. At least what I can do is offer you a place to get dry, wait this out and a cup of proper hot tea.â
âYou got me with the tea,â he laughed and went together with her.
Her apartment was small but spacious. There were a lot of plants everywhere and they made it look very cosy. The apartment had a small kitchen, a living room and a bedroom. But she had furnished it very nicely, and the big windows made it look expensive. It wasnât perfectly cleaned up and he appreciated it very much. He enjoyed seeing some clothes here and there, some books opened and left on the cupboard and on the table. There was a half-empty cup sitting on the table. In his career as an actor, he had been to various houses. He could swear that in the majority of them it looked like nobody was living there; everything was perfectly cleaned almost sterile. He usually felt like heâs in a hospital or something. But in her flat Ben felt at home and he couldnât shake this feeling away. All the clutter made him feel so relaxed and calm. He couldnât help but smile.
âItâs not much, but itâs home.â She softly explained, her cheeks with a soft tint of red.
âI love it,â he admitted, âIt feels like home. Itâs wonderful.â He added. Y/N blushed deeply but didnât say anything else. She went away but returned shortly after.
âHere. You can change out if you want. Let your clothes dry. The bathroom is over there.â She showed him and gave him a pair of joggers, a shirt and a jumper. He gladly accepted and did as told.
He found her in a kitchen pouring hot tea into the cups.
âWhose are these?â he asked as he took a seat on the kitchen stool.
âMy ex.â She answered shortly. âHe never took them and I never threw them away.â She looked down at her cup.
âDo you still have feelings for him?â Ben was curious.
âOh hell no. It was some time ago. I know I shouldâve given them away or donated, but it saved some peoples asses, yours included.â She chuckled.
âCanât deny that.â He only smiled.
The rest of the night was pretty chill. They watched a couple of movies and went to sleep. Ben being the gentleman he was, demanded to sleep on the couch and Y/n didnât dare to fight him.
The morning came pretty fast and friends were woken up by the sound of their alarms. A couple of groans later the girl came out of her room.
âCoffee?â she just asked.
âYes, please,â the man answered and his husky morning voice left her week in her knees. She even tripped over her own feet. Thank god there was a chair nearby and she managed to keep her balance. This mini heart attack moment woke her up completely.
âThe hell is wrong with me?â she murmured to herself. The girl started making some coffee and continued to argue with herself inside her head.
âMorning,â Ben came into the kitchen and gave her a warm smile. He was wearing only the joggers she gave him yesterday and no shirt. His toned body got her head spinning. Her cheeks were flaming red, she quickly turned around and pretended to check if the coffee is ready yet.
âMorning,â she shyly murmured back. She couldnât understand why he made her feel this way. Sheâs seen him shirtless at work, she heard him talk a million times, but why today? Why is she so over the place anytime she sees him today?
âHey, you ok?â she heard his voice somewhere far far away in her head. âY/nâŚâ
She blinked a few times, âSorry, what?â she looked at him confused. âYeah, Iâm fine. Just not fully awake.â She smiled when his words finally sank in and poured coffee for both of them. She took a few big sips and a smiled curled up to her face. âGod, the person who created coffee was a geniusâ she smiled to herself.
âDo you hear that?â Ben asked out of nowhere.
âHear what?â she asked and started to listen. It was completely silent, not a single sound in the world. âNo, I donât. Why?â she looked at Ben confused and wondering if heâs alright.
He just kept smiling and staring at her. A couple of moments later her eyes got as big as rocks.
âWait,â she stood up from the place she was standing and ran to the window. Ben followed her and laughed to himself.
âThe rain stopped!â she started laughing and jumping up and down. âThe fucking rain finally stopped!â She couldnât believe it. After 9 weeks of worst rain imaginable it was finally over. She opened her windows as wide as possible and went to her balcony. It felt like the sun was shining warmer than ever. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath taking all this missed feeling back in.
âI donât want to ruin your moment, but where did all the water go?â she heard Benâs voice. He was standing an inch away from her and looking straight down the street. Y/N opened her eyes and looked down. She gasped there was no water left, nothing flooding the houses, not even a single puddle on the street.
âMaybe it evaporated or went down the drains?â she questioned.
âIt was raining for 2 months straight. Itâs not possible.â Ben shrugged and continued to stare at the busy street.
******
After that, life continued as normal. The only problem was that every time Y/N encountered Ben, which happened pretty much all the time, she would get into this weird dizzy feeling when her heart would race up, her legs would get all shaky. Sometimes she literally felt just high.
She hated herself like that. She knew she like him very much, but she never got this dumb feeling with any of her crushes or even boyfriends.
âYou wonât believe what happened today!â Ben greeted Y/N when she entered the wardrobe staff room.
âHello to you too,â she giggled and gave him a hug. âWhat got you so excited from such an early morning?â she wondered
âRemember when I told you about my audition for âToo much love will kill you?ââ he couldnât stop smiling and giggling to himself.
âProbably the biggest franchise to ever see the light of the day? Of course, I remember!â she answered him. He nodded his head and was smiling like crazy. âNo way,â she whispered. He only kept nodding and laughing.
âYup, I got cast.â He chuckled.
âIâm so proud of you!â she squeaked and gave him a bear hug. She had tears of happiness running down her face and only kept repeating how happy and proud she was of him. Pure happiness erupted and it would look like the most magical moment if anyone would have seen.
âWhen do you leave?â she asked.
âAfter weâre done with shooting this season of âKill all love.â He stated joyfully.
âWhat? You mean in two days?â her smile dropped and she looked almost sad.
âYeah...â good mood vanishing like smoke.
She felt a lump in her throat. âFor how long?â she whispered afraid of her voice cracking if she said it any louder.Â
Ben looked at his feet and played with his fingers, âI have no idea, yet.â
âWhat about a farewell party or something?â Y/N asked trying to switch the mood.
He laughed, âYou have approximately 36 hours to make one happen.â
It was an early Saturday morning. Sun had just risen, majority of the city was in deep slumber but a young couple was far from asleep.
âYouâre not leaving again, are you?â she asked with a voice full of concern.
âWeâve talked about it. Itâs just a small job, sweetheart.â
âBut I donât want you to go⌠Can you not go?â she looked sad and devastated. âIâll make pancakesâŚâ
âI canât, love. You now that.â He just sighed. âI promise, Iâll be back before you know it,â he smiled and gave a peck on her lips. Â
He continued to get ready. He put on his shoes and jacket.
âI love you, okay? Iâll keep you updated as much as I can.â He sadly smiled and gave her a bear hug. He put his head in the crook of her neck and breathed her in. As much as he didnât want to admit, every time he had to leave, he was always scared that he might not see her again. Â As hard as it was for her to see him go, it was just as hard for him to leave. Every time he stepped outside their shared apartment to go on a mission he was risking it all. Her safety, her freedom, her happiness and all this idyllic life they both were creating day by day.
âI love you too.â She softly added. He gave her one last kiss and he was gone before she opened her eyes.
******
It was a late late night. Something past three in the morning. Billy still hasnât returned home, nor called. She called him like 40 times already, wrote a hundred messages. But still nothing. She didnât know where he was, or why he was. The only thing he told was âItâs just a small job, sweetheart.â
Sometimes he was a real pain in the ass, but he was her pain in the ass, and she wouldnât change it for the world. She heard the key in the front door lock and the second it opened, she lost control.
âWhere the hell have you been!â she immediately started screaming, âYou were supposed to be home 12 hours ago! You said it was a small job, sweetheart!â she mocked him a bit.
âIâm sorry, doll. We had some complications and then I forgot my phone was on silent,â he only smiled. How dared he?!
âThen stop! Stop keeping your phone on silent! You got me worried!â at this moment she wasnât sure whether she was crying out of anger, or because she was relieved that heâs finally home. Maybe a little bit of both.
He put his bag on the ground, came forward and hugged her. âWhy are you so tense lately? Itâs not the first time things get delayed. Youâve never made a scene like this,â he stated while kissing the top of her head.
She sighed, hugged him back and murmured in his chest. âI just keep having this same dream all over again. Iâm scared. Thatâs all.â
âY/N,â he said it with a warning tone.
âYou were on a job, and you were looking for some jewellery or some shit. And then cops came and yâall were running away. It was a tall ass building and you slipped. You fell and I heard you scream. I couldnât do anything! I was just watching.â She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. âI tried to call you, just to hear your voice and make sure youâre alright, you know?â
âIâm sorry, love. I promise, from now on Iâll always have my notifs on when you call  or text me aâight?â He put his finger and her chin and gently raised her head, so she was now looking straight into his eyes. âI promise, nothing will happen to me, ok?â
âOk, I love you,â she whispered and pecked his lips.
âI love you too, doll.â
But little did they know, it was a prophetic dream.
(Got some ideas buzzing in my head and decided to let them all out. Have to admit, not my best one but nevertheless, please enjoy!)

*****
It was a usual night for her. She was sitting in the dark cold cellar waiting.
Some time ago she was taken away from her childhood, family and friends. Â Her own parents, ignorant as they were, called these terrible people and asked them to take her away. She was just a child. She didnât understand what or why strange things were happening to her. When she would fell and have some scratches on her body, she could watch them disappear in a few seconds.
Once she fell from swings and broke her arm, but by the time ambulance came, the little girlâs arm was back to normal. Her parents were rich and important people in her country, so scared of their reputation they gave her away. They didnât even care who took her, as long as she wasnât in their life anymore. For the public, parents only stated that she left for a boarding-school abroad. Â
It was all lies. The girl was a victim of weird scientists who experimented on her, trying to see where her powers come from and why she has them. Then she was bought by a group of buff men and they put her into the cellar that she was now in.
The men who took her were not necessarily bad to her, because they used her only for healing powers. They were bad to other kids like her, who she had encountered. Apparently, these men organize underground mutant fights. They capture mutants and make them fight until almost death. The winner is brought back to the cellar to heal, but nobody knows what happens to the ones who loseâŚ
Currently, she was sharing her cell with a boy named Warren. When she first saw him she felt as if she entered one of those fancy religious paintings. He was on his knees praying and he had the most perfect white wings. She was standing further away and couldnât understand what she was seeing.
âWho are you?â she whispered not to scare him away.
âWho are you?â he asked back loudly. His voice echoed in the cellar and she flinched. But both of them kept their distance.
âIâm Y/N. Iâm supposed to heal you,â she answered.
âI donât need to be healed. Get lost.â Â He grunted.
âPlease,â she begged. âI need to help you, or they will punish us both.â She slowly came closer to him, âCan I?â she softly asked.
He was staring at her and just nodded. Â He was a bit scared but was very intrigued by whatâs about to happen.
âHold my hand and breathe,â she demanded softly. He did as told and soft glow beamed from her skin. He saw how the light came from her through her hand and the moment it reached his, the boy felt warmth filling up his body. It was such a weird experience. He felt how that warmth travelled from his fingertips through his whole body, through every smaller to bigger wound he had, through all his pain, and he felt so relieved and calm. She opened her eyes and glowing stopped.
âBetter?â she smiled.
âYeah,â the boy took a breath. âIâm Warren.â
âNice to meet you, Warren.â
*****
Few days passed and Warren kept winning and winning and because of that, they named him Angel. She always healed him but some nights were worse than the others.
âOh god, youâre bleeding so much!â She exclaimed. Warren was beaten like never before. He was dripping blood everywhere, his nose was bleeding, his wings had some bloodstains on them, he was limping and his body was covered in scratches. Y/N couldnât tell if that was all Warrenâs blood or somebodyâs else. She made him sit on a stool and tried to absorb some blood with clean cloths. He whimpered.
âHey, just look at me. Breathe.â She told him. She cup his cheeks and soft glow embraced them both. In seconds he started to get better. When she was finished, he rested his head on her shoulder.
âThanks,â he whispered.
âAlways,â she answered him.
*****
And day by day, Warren was coming back worse and worse. Always beaten even more brutally than the last night. She was becoming weaker and weaker, each night she would heal him, but her powers couldnât recover fully until the next night. Eventually, she could heal only the places where he was hurt the most. She was sleeping most of the time and would see Warren just after his fighting, they would talk a bit and she would be out cold the next minute.
The people who orchestrated this whole underground mutant fights started to notice, that Warren wasnât healed enough. They tried punishments, but it didnât help, only made everything worse. They got fed up and decided to sell her to some creepy scientist again. They wanted to make a deal during a fight and celebrate it by their best fighter, Warren, winning. Â Everything was going well until some old dude came to her and her capturers. They talked for a while, shook their hands and the old man just put his hand on Y/N shoulder and gave her a creepy smile. At the same time, all lights disappeared for a second, and when they came on again, she saw Warren ripping the fighting cage open and trying to escape. He looked at the girl with fear written on his face.
âRun! And donât look back!â she yelled and prayed that he heard. Â
âItâs time for us to leave,â the creepy dude said taking Y/N away into the unknown.
*****
Itâs been almost a year after she got away from that horrible creepy old scientist she was sold to. She was found by Charles Xavier as he took her under his wing. He invited her to become a part of his school, for people like her. He taught her that there are a lot of mutants in this world, that sheâs not alone. Every day she remembered Warren, wondered how he was doing, where he was if he was safe.
From time to time, she had terrible nightmares about him dying, about her trying to safe him but failing. She always seemed to be too late. She would wake up with pounding headache and her sheets covered in sweat. The day after would be even worse. She wouldnât focus, she would always be lost in her thoughts, she was always a mess and couldnât pull herself together. This time it was a five nights streak of nightmares and she didnât want to fall asleep anymore. She was scared to close her eyes even for a second because she knew she would see dead angels again.
But her body had its limits. She couldnât keep her eyes opened anymore and she only closed them for a second, to take a deep breath.
She was walking through the schoolâs library observing all the different paintings they had hung on the walls. One caught her eye specifically. The canvas was full of dancing angels. She stopped for a closer look when she felt something pulling her closer and closer, as if she was a piece of metal and painting was a magnet.
The next things she knows she is dancing among the angels. She noticed every second there was more and more bodies around her, men and women were laughing, some started kissing, some just enjoyed the comfort of each other. Y/N stopped for a second and tried to focus her gaze. She started noticing that all those angels were far from beautiful. They were all sweaty, blonde curly hair stuck to their faces, their eyes were dark as night. Some of them didnât even have a face. Instead of glowing skin, they had all kinds of cuts, and wounds which were infected and swollen. Their teeth were sharp and pointy, their nails looked like they belonged to the dead. Instead of white feather wings, she saw dirty, bloody, broken ones.
Instead of the marvellous beautiful creatures, the girl only saw monsters. Her heart started to beat faster than ever. She was desperately looking for a way out when somebody grabbed her hand.
âFollow me,â she only heard. When she looked to see who it was, her gaze only met someoneâs back. At least it was a being with purely white feather wings.  But the voice⌠The voice sounded so familiar but she couldnât remember who it was. They were pushing through the sea of people, but any step they had taken forward, the crowd pushed them two steps back. She realized that if they wanted to succeed they needed to go to the opposite direction. In this way they would go with the flow of the crowd and could find safety on the other side. She tried to stop her companion, but they only let go of her hand. The lack of touch felt as if she was standing naked in the cold winter night in. Then her capturer/rescuer turned around and she immediately saw who it was.
âWarren!â she exclaimed happily and embraced him. When he didnât hug her back she slowly raised her head. Suddenly, she felt a strong urge to vomit. It was indeed Warren, but he didnât have a face. Technically he did, but where it used to be his eyes, were only to black holes staring somewhere above the girl. His lips looked like they were stitched together but the threads were ripped apart straight with some pieces of skin. Instead of a nose, there was just a huge gash and nothing else. The girl tried to take a few steps back, but the crowd didnât allow it. Instead, she watched in slow motion when white worms started to come out of someone, that used to be Warren.
She woke up screaming like never before. Tears were streaming down her face.
âWarren.â
âWarren.â
âWarren.â
She was repeating his name like a prayer.
âY/Nâ she heard somewhere far away in her head. It scared her even more because she couldnât tell as if she was still dreaming or not. She just began saying Warrenâs name louder and louder.
âY/N, this is professor Xavier. Let me in. This was only a nightmare. Let me help you.â A soft voice echoed in her head. She didnât know for how long she heard those sentences repeat inside her mind, but slowly, she started to listen. Her breath normalized, her pulse got slower and she finally looked around her room. The professor was sitting on the side of her bed stroking her hand with a worried look.
âGlad to have you back,â he said. But the girl wasnât sure if he said in real life or inside her mind.
âProfessor,â she took a few breaths. âI need your help.â
*****
âProfessor, I cannot sleep, I cannot eat. Iâm always lost in my mind, I canât even use my powers properly. I need your help in finding Warren. I will never find peace if I donât know what happened to him.â She was crying in the professorâs office. âYou know, we met when both of us were still children. We both were forced to do stuff, we never thought we would do. He was my friend when I most needed him.â
âYou caught felling for him, didnât you?â professor Xavier softly smiled.
âIâm afraid I did,â she nodded, âAnd they never disappeared. They are just growing stronger and stronger. Itâs killing me.â She confessed.
âAlright, Y/N. Let me get Hank with us. Weâre going to find Warren. Donât you worry,â he squeezed her hand supportively.
âThank you, professor,â she smiled

They came into what looked like an abandoned barn. Heavy metal almost deafened them.
âI think, it would be best if I go alone from now,â she told her friends. âIn case everything goes south, just get Warren, and make him come with you, okay?â The rest of the group just nodded and she proceeded forward.
She came into the bard and slowly began looking around.
âShould I say piss off?â a male voice mixed into the sounds of heavy metal. Â He was somewhere near the roof and she couldnât see him properly. He tried to fly down, but his landing on the ground was very complicated. He stumbled and almost fell down. Her heart literally dropped when she started noticing how broken he was. His wings were broken on several places, a lot of feathers were missing. He had a bottle of vodka in one hand and it was almost empty. But despite all this, he still made her knees weak.
âWarren,â she whispered. Tears were threatening to spill any second. âWhat happened?â
âY/N?â he asked with clear disbelief in his voice. âWhat are you doing here?â
She tried to smile, âI wanted to show you a safe place to stay. I missed you.â She raised her hand trying to reach his shoulder. âWhen they found meâŚ,â
âWhere were you when I needed you most?â he snapped at her. âWhen I flew away from that underground place, I was waiting for you to show up. But you never came! I was waiting and waiting,â he was yelling at her. âThey almost caught me again!â
âWarren, IâŚâ
âYou what?â he just sounded so frustrated and fed up. She could smell the alcohol on him.
âCan you listen for me for a sec?â she tried her best not to sound angry.
âWhat can you say that would possibly make this better? Why are you here, huh?â his voice was a little tiny bit lower than before.
âBecause I care about you!â she exclaimed. âThat day, they sold me to a creepy old scientist. He did all kind of weird shit to me. I couldnât have possibly came to you because I wasnât even there anymore! When Professor Xavier found me, I was hospitalized for two weeks. For a month I couldnât use my powers because I was so drained by everything. And wanna know the worst part?â the tears were like waterfalls coming from her eyes. âI canât remember the last time I had a proper full-night sleep! I am having the worst nightmares all the time! Iâm not able to sleep, because Iâm constantly thinking and worrying about you!â
âStop blaming me for all of your problems,â he stated with a blank face.
âIâm not blaming you, Warren. Iâm asking you to let me help you. Not everyone is going to hurt you, remember? Besides, there is this school for people like us. There are a lot of kids there. Itâs a safe place to be who you really are. No one is judging you there. Itâs wonderful.â She genuinely smiled.
âY/N, IâŚâ he stuttered and she pulled him into a hug. A familiar warm glow emitted from her and filled Warrenâs body.
He remembered how good it felt when she touched him. He missed it so much, he missed her like crazy. Â He felt his body getting back to the way it once was. He felt his wings getting heavier and heavier. Eventually, the glow stopped. For the first time in a long time, he was able to spread his wings without any pain in them. He looked to the side and he never saw his wings at such a glory. Even during his best days, the wings never looked this good. They were shining in the dim light of the room and he gave them a nice swing.
âYouâve definitely become stronger,â he whispered looking straight into her eyes.
âYeah, I was kinda practising a lot,â she slightly blushed. âSo,â she took his hand, âAre you ready to start a new life?â she asked.
âIf youâll stay by my side at all times,â he smiled.
âJust hold my hand,â she said leading him to his soon to be new family, and to the new chapter of his life.

âYou know youâre in love with her, right?â
âSince when?â
âSince pretty much always. Thatâs why Iâm breaking up with you.â
*****
They have been madly in love for 3 years. It was all sparkles and giggles, never argued much, always tried to understand each other, always tried to find the best solutions that worked for both of them. They were called a power couple and it honestly felt like that. Both of them were willing to make sacrifices, willing to work for their relationship to be a success. They were just recently engaged, bought a nice apartment together, were thinking about adopting a pet. It all felt like a dream.
âHey, hun, are you done? We need to leave in ten.â A soft shout echoed from the living room.
âYes, Iâm coming,â she mumbled.
They were getting ready for one of those award shows. Theyâve been to so many already, that everything felt the same. She didnât have much passion for them, but her boyfriend was an incredibly talented actor and she wanted to support him as much as possible, so, of course, she was his sidekick to all the award shows. She was incredibly proud of him and he knew. It was a relationship that most people envy. They were best friends, they knew each other better than anybody else, they had almost no secrets, and were incredibly happy.
All award ceremonies have the same routine: you come, have people take pictures of you, go inside the venue, answer some questions for the journalists, go to the other area, mingle around all the fancy famous people, find your seat, attend the ceremony, then mingle some more, then change outfits and then go to the after-party. And every single award show was like that. It was incredibly draining, but there is nothing you wonât do for love, right?
âLove, remember Rose? Weâll be working on the same movie together next month,â he sounded so genuine reintroducing his long-time friend and coworker. She knew Rose, and she knew her very well. They were in the same high school together, had a few lessons together. But Rose was all over the place, attending various after school activities and being into everybodyâs faces. It was impossible for her to notice Y/N. But Y/N watched her. The way she moved, the way she talked, the way her hair reflected the light and how she was always beaming. She was a dream, not only for boys but also for girls. Half of the school wanted to look like her, to dress like her, to be her. Time went by, and people grew up, Y/N met Ben and an incredible relationship blossomed. She couldnât believe how lucky she got. She became more self-confident, happier about herself and she bloomed like the most beautiful flower. And, here is were âbutâ happens. There is always a âbutâ, isnât it?
It was Benâs birthday. A small party with the closest of friends and family, nothing too fancy. But what she didnât expect was Rose. Y/N didnât know that sheâs one of Benâs oldest friends, that they have a long history between them. After Ben introduced them, Y/N just pretended that she doesnât know who Rose is. Both women spent a lot of time that evening, they talked and talked and everything seemed normal. Except Y/N remembered all those years of wanting to be as flawless as Rose was. And all her self-confidence crumbled like a house of cards. She was back to her old self. Ben noticed the change and she gave him a half-truth of the story. Months passed, Y/N learned to love herself again. There were, of course, a lot of meeting with Rose, because of Benâs friendship with her, but Y/N was doing a lot better. She started to even like Rose and look at her as an equal human being, instead of a goddess from another universe. And she liked that Ben always spoke about her with adoration and respect, always showering her with compliments, because women in the movie industry need support, right?
âHow could I forget her?â Y/N answered back, â This is such great news! Iâm very happy for both of you,â she exclaimed with a wide grin and gave Ben a kiss on the cheek. The three of them continued talking and what she noticed next gave her a weird feeling in her stomach. She didnât mention it but was deep in her thoughts for the rest of the night.
A few months later Y/N decided to visit Ben on set. It was meant to be a surprise. She called a lot of people to arrange everything. She hadnât seen him in so long, that it hurt her physically.
It was a beautiful sunny day, the sky was clear and the sun was shining brighter than usual. When she arrived on set, a lot of people greeted her, she talked for a couple of minutes.
âBen is still shooting, but he should be free any minute now,â some lady informed her. Y/Nâs hands were sweaty, butterflies in her tummy and a wide smile on her face. She was so excited as if she was about to go on her first date.
âCut!â she heard someone yell. Then some silence, then some mumbling and then people started coming out of the room they were filming. And then she saw him. He was laughing, hair a bit messy, eyes sparkling and a brunette holding his arm. After a few seconds she realized, Rose was that brunette. Must be wearing a wig,âY/NÂ thought.
âBen!â Y/N yelled.
âLove! What are you doing here?â he was more surprised and shocked than happy.
âI just missed you,â she gushed and gave him a tight hug. He hugged her back. He missed her too, so much. They spent the rest of the day together. He showed Y/N around the set, told her how the shooting was going, how he and Rose did that, and that, and third, and fourth.
But itâs nothing to worry about, because theyâre just coworkers, playing a couple in love and spending the majority of time together because of that, right?
It was Benâs movie premiere. Y/N were supposed to go with him, but she got incredibly sick. She had a high temperature, every bone and muscle in her body hurt, so they made a decision and Ben took Rose as his plus one. Y/N was watching everything live from her laptop. And the moment she saw Ben and Rose posing for the cameras a tear fell down her face.
âBen, we need to talk,â she said while standing near the kitchen cabinet and holding a cup of tea. He was sitting near the table, he raised his head from his phone and a huge grin was plastered on his face.
âWhat about?â he asked.
âRose,â she whispered and wasnât sure if he heard her.
âWhat about her?â his grin was changed by a confused looked.
âYou know youâre in love with her, right?â she asked with tears streaming down her face.
âSince when? What are you ta-,â
âSince pretty much always,â she interrupted him. âThatâs why,â her voice cracked. âThatâs why Iâm breaking up with you.â Ben didnât say anything.
âI see the way you look at her, the way you smile for her, the way your eyes lit up when you talk about her. You used to look at me like that.â She managed to say through sobs. âYouâre my best friend, Ben. The love of my life. I cannot force you to be with me when your heart belongs to another.â He just came closer and hugged her. They were both crying into each other.
âIâm sorry,â he whispered.
âYou donât need to be. A heart wants what it wants,â she whispered back...
