I wish Ragatha had been in a better show. It's so painfully clear that the show thought they were being subversive in the idea of a "deconstructing the people pleaser archetype" but the writing is not good enough to carry it through the finish line. And that archetype only works if you have good foils and contrasts again them (Pomni and Jax are neither). Ragatha is a punching bag throughout the show, her feelings and experiences are minimized, people claim that she's insincere because she's not ALWAYS upfront with her feelings like most human beings, and apparently even in the past everyone like Ribbit and Kaufmo favored Jax? And she was in the right to be worried about Pomni's friendship with Jax. ...That doesn't even go into the fact that she was apparently friends with Jax and he was supposedly less of an asshole at some point, neither of which that we see. Her entire character for the last half of the show is unimportant and diminished. She doesn't even get a reaction, good or bad, to knowing that Kinger, one of the people she's closest to had a hand in why all of them are trapped there??? We spend 95% on Jax's nonsense and all I can wonder is how Ragatha didn't abstract? That would've been a tragic yet satisfying follow up to the idea that the worst thing you can do is make someone feel like they're unloved. Jax is not unloved. He's prioritized to the point where it defies reason. His demons are his own. Ragatha has seen multiple people abstract, is the second longest human at the circus and feels constantly isolated and blames herself for it. Such a frustrating lack of conclusion to a character with so much potential.
