and another thing, the premise of them annihilating themselves from existence and memory and just creating a universe that has 'true free will' makes no sense.
That's....the joke? That's the joke! Of the Book! That's the entire premise!

ITS FUNNY because demons and angels NEVER DID have any influence over them AT ALL.
Except them! And they were the best parts! Knowledge of Good and Evil and the Sword Aziraphale gave to humanity that Them used to stop the apocalypse! Because they loved the world! and THAT WAS FREE WILL. Crowley and Aziraphale GAVE THEM FREE WILL!
What was the point of stopping the apocalypse the first time if it doesn't fucking matter???
The mission statement of this narrative was that Crowley and Aziraphale wanted to live, and be free, (and love each other) because that's what they deserved, simply because they exist, from an ethical standpoint how can anyone say they didn't deserve to exist?
How is it not incredibly out of character that the two beings who were TERRIFIED of having to spend eternity away from each other just...sacrifice themselves? For nothing.
That the world in which they existed doesn't matter? Because you can go ahead and throw away the whole 'the world they made after was better' because its literally not! They already had what this facsimile of Crowley is saying they didn't. It retcons the entire premise.
What happened to 'you shouldn't test them to destruction'? What happened to Aziraphale saying he couldn't just leave the humans to fend for themselves? They just gave up! The earth was still destroyed! Everybody still died! It's literally is Jobs children!
Death isn't freedom, its just death.

It was supposed to be a lighthearted parody of religious concepts like free will but it ended up "preaching" the same religious moral concepts of self sacrificing your life to god in hopes of a better world.
I'm not sure the writers bothered to watch their own show because how are you gonna make a whole episode focusing on Job and Sitis, the most devoted followers, cursing God for killing their children and trying to replace them with new ones as a "reward." Crowley and Aziraphale spend 20 minutes trying to stop that from happening because they know it's wrong and nearly dying in the process. The circumstances frame the angels as blind to human emotions and centered around quantity rather than quality and love. It doesn't matter if they'll have more children. They're not THEIR children, they're not the same people Job and Sitis have loved so much for so many years.
Then the finale drops. Crowley and Aziraphale are erased because... the fans were too loyal and we deserved this? and they're replaced with Anthony and Asa. And we're supposed to... be gaslighted that this is the happy ending?
we donβt talk enough about how the final years of crowleyβs life absolutely sucked. he was sleeping in an alley near aziraphaleβs bookshop because he couldnβt bear to leave whickber street, his supply of miracles were switched off, he was depressed and had a drinking and gambling addiction, his beloved car was essentially stolen just so he could protect the bookshop, the love of his life left him and only came back when he needed his help and ADMITTED just as much to him and to make matters even worse, they only got to spend a day together before he was erased from existence entirely. anthony j crowley you deserved better.

I feel like with the Stranger Things finale and now the Good Omensβ finale, weβve moved on from bury your gays to give them vaguely happy endings that donβt really mean anything when you think about it.
Like, Willβs βhappy endingβ was all Mikeβs imagination and Aziraphale and Crowleyβs didnβt even happen to THEM.

TO COMMUNICATE. TO FIGURE IT ALL OUT VERBALLY AND TO HUGGGGGGG AND MAYBE IF THEY HAD THEN THEIR WORLD WOULDN'T HAVE FUCKING VANISHED INTO LITERAL NOTHINGNESS oughhhhhghh

the whole dialogue between el and hopper just DOESN'T MAKE SENSE
hopper tells el for the whole season how afraid he is of losing his daughter again. they show us el's face, as if she understood and thought about it. and at the end, she says of hopper's daughter: "she had no choice. i have" and i was like yes! sarah had no choice and she died, and you have a choice NOT to die!
and then el just kills herself
what the fuck is the point? "sarah had no choice and she died, and i have a choice and i'm going to die too" WHAT THE FUCK? WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? DUFFERS, WHY ARE YOU HATE EL LIKE THAT?
i've already discussed with everyone how terrible the ending is - i'm very angry and disappointed, BUT it also hurts me to see how it ended
i've loved the characters since 2016, and it pains me to watch mike end up being a terrible friend who suffers from his own stupidity in the final. how will didn't get a drop of the love he needed. how el and kali, who suffered all their lives, didn't get a single day of happiness. how jonathan and nancy, who were the only ones who understood each other, abruptly hated their relationship. how steve, who was the best in season 3, became jerk in seasons 4-5. how dustin suffered, and no one supported him, and steve blamed him. how robin and vickie broke up somewhere off-screen
how everything that was at the very beginning, it was eventually screwed up, leaving a bunch of plot holes and spitting in the face of the characters and fans. i hate duffers for condemning their characters to suffer forever, and taking advantage of fans for money
almost ten years of my life have been with st, and in the end i got such a disgusting painful ending. it's a terrible finale and i hate it. i feel betrayed
