A few more people have found this blog so here's a pinned post with links to my metas, little things/gif series, art etc and the nuts and bolts of stuff here in case you want that.
ETA — Post S3 update:
Hey everyone. First of all THANK YOU I don't know what i would do without this community.
If you follow this blog you know how i feel right now - mostly sad, tired, and grieving. I'm trying really hard to get the sense of peace and closure that some are feeling post finale and I'm not there, but I'm going to be doing more reading and writing and musing on that.
However! This post is mostly to say I am here for you if you are feeling some kinds of ways. Please feel free to pop into my messages or asks. I'd love to chat.
I've also decided to reblog some stuff from this blog from waaaaaaaaay back in the immediate afterglow of season 1. Tagged #good omens s1 revisited
And that's it. Hang in there. Do things that make you happy. Book omens and S1 are forever safe in our hearts and hands. <3<3
I'm a rabid reblogger of most everything Good Omens from meta to shitposts to fan art to fic to edits. Some of it ends up in a queue but mostly it's a firehose. Show, book, all are welcome here. I've been in this fandom one way or another a loooong time (yep, tumblr elder here) and can quite comfortably hold multiple and sometimes opposing characterizations and theories in my head at one time. I do try to tag but I'm gonna be honest it's less about organization and more about using the tags to chat and snark and get emotional b/c it makes me happy.
I use #fan art and #good omens meta and #good omens theories and #good omens speculation. My own stuff I tag with
#a duck talks
#a duck gifs
#a duck draws - Good Omens fan art
#a duck writes
I love wordy additions to posts, and if you yell in the tags we are family. Oh, might be NSFW stuff but not usually. PS I don't love angst but I guess I do now? Thanks season 2!
And... since there's a few out there now, some links to my metas and things.
Little fic of a conversation in Job's cellar
Credits split-screen colors
Let's Talk Laudanum
Little things to love about gos2 series
GOs1/GOs2 Parallels in gifs
A comforting thought
The bookshop as Eden and 2 different Apples
Crowley's 1827 outfit
The scent of bitter almonds (an alternate coffee theory NOT having to do with mind control)
Road Trip fic prompt
Aziraphale's Fairy Tale
The Duality of Jane Austen
aaaand... my post freaking out about s1 that broke containment a bit

"what are you a cop" is bookaziraphale's entire mindset btw. "is it very angelic to hoard books and be mean to customers" what are you a cop? "should you really be married to your adversary" what are you a cop? "should your husband be parking his car there" ah you ARE a cop. explodes your ticket notebook with his mind. like in his mind if the lord herself doesn't come down to tell him off he's doing just fine. because he's doing it. and if she DOES come down (where is the flaming sword I gave to thee) well then. what is she a cop
book Crowley: you’re an angel, you can’t do the wrong thing
book Aziraphale: you are absolutely right. everything i do *is* the right thing
book aziraphale really took ‘do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law’ and ran with it
[ID: The first add-on shows tags from pronouncingitwang reading "#it is soo fucking important that not only did he lie to god #he thought it was so important that he wrote it in as a correction to the bilton and scaggs bible he wanted that shit printed+distributed" and the last add-on shows tags from indieninja92 reading "#MY BOY #as i like to say 'aziraphale did nothibg wrong... but not through lack of trying' #the greatest angel ever to sincerely attempt to shoot an eleven year old in the face" /end ID]
And when he knows he’ll HAVE to help the cops, he’s desperate to leave so that he WON’T have to help the cops!
[ID: A snippet from the Good Omens book. It reads “There was the sound of a siren outside, abruptly broken off as a bullet hit it. Aziraphale nudged Crowley.” The next part is highlighted, and reads “‘Get a move on,’ he said. ‘We're going to be knee-deep in police at any moment and I will of course be morally obliged to assist them in their enquiries.’” /end ID]
"Of course the plot of the finale wasn't coherent, they were rushed with the 90 minute time frame so they COULDN'T tell a full story"
Okay, but Disney movies literally do it all the time in 90 minutes. That's the norm for most animated films. It's ABSOLUTELY possible to use a ninety minute runtime wisely and make it feel like a satisfying story. You just have to make it focused and trim away the side quests unless they contribute in an important way to our understanding of theme or character.
What exactly did the subplot about Crowley losing the Bentley actually contribute? I'm not just trying to be snide here, I am actually truly wondering, what was the POINT?
(My point is, dolphins)
Obviously the answer is, it was probably one of the original six episodes that comprised Season 3, so they kept it in despite having to trim so much of it away that might have given it relevance. But why keep it in at all??
That entire sequence with the crime boss wasted SO MUCH of the precious runtime, time that could have been spent better elsewhere. Like, I dunno, maybe having Crowley and Aziraphale actually reconciling?? Or actually developing Michael's motivation as a villain?? Or giving poor Jesus an actual conclusion to his arc instead of Thanos-snapping him away before he ever "finds the lady"?
I just. I went into the finale feeling SO easy to please. I could have forgiven a rushed plot, bad special effects, some mysteries from S2 never being solved because there wasn't time. I could've even forgiven the fact that some major characters didn't make an appearance again, due to budget constraints and actors not wanting to return.
It didn't need to be Objectively Good for me to enjoy it! Truly!
I would've hand-waved it all away...if they had only given me the one thing I wanted in the end: Crowley and Aziraphale living in peace together for eternity.
But since we were denied that, i AM going to be critical of the plot holes and inconsistencies, because what else did they give us, really?

A Good Omens 3 Fix-It/Scene Rewrite: The Alley, or: Aziraphale helps Crowley up off of the ground instead of walking away from him.
Aziraphale doesn't know what to expect when he returns to Earth after three years, and he's shaken to his core when he finds Crowley lying in a filthy alleyway, shattered and alone. There is much he wants to say and even more he wants to fix, but the first step is helping a stubborn demon up off of the ground.

season 3 fix-it, scene rewrite, protective, caring, anxious Aziraphale, depressed Crowley, references to alcohol use, emotional, light angst, holding hands, hopeful ending
| excerpt |
The inside of Aziraphale’s nose tingles as it recognises the faint but unmistakable— familiar, second nature— scent of the last electrically-charged moment before a sudden rainstorm splits the sky—
I know what you smell like.
— but that sharp, crackling shower of sparks is deadened by something far more overpowering, something heavy and oppressive and bleak that chokes the atmospheric fragrance: despair.

good omens 3 is as if they made a non book based season 3 of heated rivalry where shane and ilya had a big fight, talked through some of it but not all, barely touched each other, then died to save hockey
it’s ok though. cut to fifty years later where two lookalikes meet. sean and rozza. sean is from holland. rozza says i’m half russian do u want a tuna sandwich. they hold hands in a cottage. they quote a line from all the things she said at each other. someone tweets it was always supposed to end this way

Look. As an ally (and you’d better believe the Tobias Fünke in me did that one on purpose), I don’t begrudge anyone wanting in on this merch drop. Express yourself and your love of GO and support a good cause. 100 percent proceeds means this one isn’t a cash grab by Prime.
It’s just.
It feels like my gay dads’ killer giving the eulogy. I might not feel as squicky about it if they’d slapped Asanthony behind that rainbow. But the truth is Crowley and Aziraphale never got their queer romance according to TV canon. They spend thousands of years dancing around each other’s feelings, deeply hurt and sabotage one another, and then make a suicide pact after Aziraphale admits the best part of Crowley is the part he left behind when he broke free from Heaven (Christianity, etc).

3 Plot points in the Finale (and a little of season 2) that break the story (without talking about any OOC writing):
Miracle blocking. If a demon like Furfur can get a miracle blocking card, or if Hell can just cut someone off from miracles, then why oh why haven't they done that before? Like, I dunno, when they were trying to kill Crowley in season 1?
The Book of Life itself. Especially nonsensical in the face of the trials at the end of S1. Want to erase Aziraphale and Crowley? Then do it.
The Book of Life (again). It's so bad it's on here twice. If Heaven has control of it (with no safeguards? What?) then why do they even need a war? Rip out the demon/Hell pages. Done. Also wouldn't Michael rip out Aziraphale and Crowley first? You'd think.
There are more things. I'm stopping at three for now. I know it's a mess and it isn't going to make sense, I just needed to vent.
