Big Breakfast: What sort of girls do you like?
Keanu: Oh manâŚ*holds face in hands* *repeats question* theyâre all angels.
Big Breakfast: really? And are you single at the moment?
Keanu: YeahâŚ*howls softly like a sad dog*

Actually life is beautiful because the sound I make while trying to breathe around hot food sounds like my dog trying to eat an apple. When I yawn my cat tries to put his face in my mouth like a little dentist man and when he yawns I put my finger in his obligate-carnivore trapzone and we both know he will not hurt me. When I do not fold my clothes, they do not hold it against me.
I am demonstrably sad, and lonely, and full of fear. But there are other people who will hold my hand, who will point out the hawk overhead, who will give you That Look in a public place. The other day at a coffee shop a child said "look! It's snowing!" so all of us strangers went to go look out the windows. It wasn't the first snow and it won't be the last but wasn't it lovely, like that?
How wonderful to live in a world where birds and frogs both say beep! How wonderful to have an ocean of beautiful sharks with their dinosaur teeth! How wonderful the moon and her changing face, how wonderful the bees and their dancing to communicate, how wonderful shrimp and their forbidden layers of vision! How wonderful, you, and what you will give the world! The way we love things enough to spend entire blogs devoted to them? How people will let me explain my Pokemon team to them? How we will both jump at the scare in the movie, how we laugh so loudly, how it feels to give someone your baking? How wonderful to be alive. I am sorry for forgetting.
This is the process of getting better. With wonderful people and wonderful strangers and wonderful friends: I am getting better, slowly. Thank you, whoever you are. In some way, you've been wonderful, and left a wonderful place in the world to ripple out to me. In some small way - isn't it beautiful - I promise, you've been helping.

[Weâre gonna ignore the big olâ red flags in this username, um, but I will answer your question.
If you want to exclude trans women from womanhood, you have to define womanhood in a way that excludes transwomen. And that canât be done without also excluding many cis women.
If youâre gonna say that trans women are not women, you have to figure out what makes someone a women or not. If itâs âa vaginaâ: lots of transwomen have those. If itâs âthe ability to give birthâ: lots of cis women canât do that. If itâs âexperiencing misogyny in a patriarchyâ, then womanhood no long exists when you get rid of patriarchy, which is⌠a weird take; but also trans women experience a shit ton of misogyny.
No one is saying that the trans womanâs experience is exactly the same as the cis womanâs experience, but the cis womanâs experience isnât the same as the cis womanâs experience either. Thereâs no common denominator that all of us AFAB women have that trans women donât, except being assigned at birth.]

there are many benefits to being a Naval Salior
it used to be pretty common for there to be cats on boats. they'd take care of any rodents who would chew on ropes or wires and spread diseases. sailors were also superstitious and believed that having a cat aboard would bring good luck! this belief passed on to their wives, who kept cats - especially black ones who were believed to be extra lucky - at home in order to keep their husbands safe when at sea.
another popular superstition? that if a cat came aboard it was a sign of luck, but if it only boarded halfway and then left, it was a sign of bad luck.
most ship's cats are only found in modern times on private vessels, but they have roots going back to early history. one such example is the Vikings, who took cats with them on expeditions.

I think a lot about how we as a culture have turned âforeverâ into the only acceptable definition of success.
Like⌠if you open a coffee shop and run it for a while and it makes you happy but then stuff gets too expensive and stressful and you want to do something else so you close it, itâs a âfailedâ business. If you write a book or two, then decide that you donât actually want to keep doing that, youâre a âfailedâ writer. If you marry someone, and that marriage is good for a while, and then stops working and you get divorced, itâs a âfailedâ marriage.
The only acceptable âwin conditionâ is âyou keep doing that thing foreverâ. A friendship that lasts for a few years but then its time is done and you move on is considered less valuable or not a ârealâ friendship. A hobby that you do for a while and then are done with is a âphaseâ - or, alternatively, a âpityâ that you donât do that thing any more. A fandom is âdyingâ because people have had a lot of fun with it but are now moving on to other things.
I just think that something can be good, and also end, and that thing was still good. And itâs okay to be sad that it ended, too. But the idea that anything that ends is automatically less than this hypothetical eternal state of success⌠I donât think thatâs doing us any good at all.

IMPORTANT THREAD - PLEASE SHARE!!!
"to parents of trans kids across the country, if i can recommend one thing to work on today (besides hugging your babies harder than ever) it's to start building a "safe folder"
a safe folder contains important items like your child's medical and legal records (vaccination records, court documents/passports/etc showing their legal name if it's been changed).
also include letters from trusted people like neighbors, your child's principal, clergy, etc that talk about what a wonderful parent you are.
photos (including self portraits your children have drawn!) that document your trans child's transition are also helpful. if you have a social media account & are considering deleting, download all your pics and posts first to use as evidence of their persistent gender identity.
one year my son drew me the LOVELIEST mother's day card. he told me how much he loved me & how safe he felt when he was with me. the 1st thing i thought was "this is the sweetest thing he's ever made me." the 2nd (heartbreaking) thing i thought is "this goes in the safe folder."
include report cards, too. medals/awards that they've earned from their accomplishments.
i pray you will never need to rely on your safe folder. but if someone calls CPS on you for doing nothing more than loving your transgender child and supporting them in the ways that they need, then you have evidence to back you up that YOU ARE A GOOD PARENT.
it will be okay. hug your babies, vote these douchecanoes out of office, and stay strong. love you."
