“I don’t pity you,” Yeonjun spoke softly. He loosened his grip on Beomgyu’s wrist, letting the younger go. “Staying up late just sounds lonely.”

Beomgyu held his stare, and even though Yeonjun released him, he didn’t step back. “Well, the medication should help with that, too.”

“Gyu-yah,” Yeonjun hesitated. He looked into the younger’s eyes and felt his own expression soften. “Next time you can’t fall asleep, come knock on my door instead of taking refuge on the couch.”

Beomgyu, a third year music major, battled more than just insomnia. During winter break, he learned his new situation would lead well beyond sleepless nights. And while his friends remained unaware, Beomgyu knew he had eroded down to a single grain of the man he used to be. Though one person noticed his change in character, offering up his bed as a safe haven.
