Game companies hate emulation, but none of them seem to understand that a lot of us would just buy ROMs from them directly if we could. I don't want a fifth remake of Final Fantasy IV, I want to pay five bucks for the 3MB file you already made bank with thirty years ago. Nobody who wants to play something for the purpose of retro gaming is going to consider a $40 remake as the alternative option, and we're certainly not going to let the original dissappear. They're crying about opportunity cost for a product they're not even selling.

op i know you're probably talking about like, video games, etc, but this is also critical for research science - my lab has so much abandonware, either because the company's out of business, or the company decided to not maintain it, and it's a fucking nightmare. we have two windows 95 computers that are CRITICAL for performing experiments/data analysis because the software needed is abandonware. one of the main roles for a guy in my lab is to maintain these little dinosaurs because if they go out, we lose access to ~20 years of raw data for research. part of why is that these companies also make their own file types, and make it difficult-to-impossible to convert those file types without their specific software. by habit, i convert all research files to more generic versions (txt, pdf, tif, etc) so that i minimize risk of losing my shit, but some stuff can't be converted.

for example, we have a microscope that is perfectly functional, good microscope, but its software is abandonware because the company refused to maintain it. the company is still in business, still makes essentially the exact same software, but they made all of the old tech incompatible with new software to force people to buy the new microscope tech. it would cost a quarter million dollars to replace this microscope. this perfectly good microscope.

so like, i know a lot of people look at the original post here and go "well op just wants old video games to play" (which is valid! games companies should not be able to push shit to abandonware and then close it off) but also this is critical for like. biomedical research. if y'all had any idea how much basic infrastructure built on science relies on shit that is technically abandonware, you would probably be horrified.

hi y’all. This blog has had a spike cause of the drama, so I just want to lay out a thing or two so people can block me in peace if they want to and we can be but two passing ships in the eldritch sea of tumblr.

I work with characters, not content creators

I think the actions of creators like George, Wilbur, and Dream reprehensible and genuinely hope they can become better people through therapy and support networks. But as is they all make me feel sick.

I don’t support harassing creators, victims, anyone. Yes even if “”””they deserve it””””

Currently working on phasing Wilbur out cause he’s entrenched in old projects that I’m not going to butcher artistically.

Adblock DNS is easy to install! Works for all phones! It works on most ads, but not video or tumblr.

Settings → Network → Private DNS, paste in dns.adguard.com

the above will decrease the amount of ads you see system-wide. however: hands down the BEST ANDROID ADBLOCKING feature is the ability to install Firefox with uBlock Origin enabled.

Install Firefox -> Settings -> Extensions -> uBlock Origin

this only blocks browser ads, but HOLY SHIT does that matter if you try browsing websites over apps when possible. which you should bc it's awesome and gives you SO much more control. E.g. blocks youtube.com ads and you can play videos in the background. works with spotify.com too

Pro tip: toggle on 'Desktop site' to avoid mobile sites that are purposely designed to bully you into using the app. Desktop mode fixes a surprising number of problems

Note: for iOS users this isn't possible bc Apple hates your guts, but there are other browser options with built-in adblocking.

It’s all in the way that girl/boys shirts are made.

Girls shirts have less armpit room then boy’s do and are generally shorter so pulling it off over your head is more practical because by lifting your arms all the way up you make enough room for the sleeves to just slip off.

Boys shirts have more room and are generally longer so it is easy to slip them off over your head.

but if you take a girls shirt off like a boys shirt you will get your arms caught because there isn’t much armpit space.

and if you take a boys shirt off like a girls shit you will still have your head in it when you’ve lifted your arms all the way up because of the shirt’s length.

It has nothing to do with us. It is entirely to do with how our shirts are made. I figured it out for you. YOU’RE WELCOME!

I have another AU that I think would mesh well with Fault.

It's a Miss Peregrine's AU, where some of the DSMP members are a bunch of weird kids all staying in a mansion for their safety and some are the caretakers. I think Fault! Tubbo and Home! Tubbo might get along?

fault Tubbo can be a bit of a (self proclaimed) muffinhole- but usually only if you’ve killed a lot of people in front of them. So hopefully good chance? What’s home tubbo like?

Tubbo is a good bit different from Fault! Tubbo. I also think Fault wilber would be either charmed or devastated by Home!Tommy.

I get the feeling SCP Tubbo would glance at home Tubbo and be like. Child. We have GOT to make sure no one here muffins him up. But like sorta in that older cousin way where they don’t have any authority and a half cup of responsibility, that awkward area of strangers visited twice a year. As for home Tommy, I’d need to know more. But 90% Scpilbur is a lil hater. Grumpy cat more hiss than bite, but still.

H!Tommy's oddity is that he is a somewhat shapeshifter. He can bring forth eyes and mouths all across his body. But his biggest and unchangeable feature is the large vulgar mouth on the back of his head. H!Tommy is a good kid around the same age as H!Tubbo, but his other mouth cusses like a 13 yo learning curse words and eats like H!Tommy is starving constantly. He can make it quiet for a few hours but if he gets hungry has to eat with that mouth. Its the one that mouths all of H!Tommy's mean spirited thoughts. Other than that tommy looks like a normal human 99% of the time.
