OKAY OKAY OKAY so when I realized I was going to have to write a lot of space battles, I did two things. The first was put a sticky note on my laptop that said THE ENEMY'S GATE IS DOWN (which, ugh, fuck OSC into the SUN), to remind myself that direction is both 1. important, and 2. relative, and then I watched approximately a billion hours of bait ball footage in David Attenborough documentaries, which helped me write battles in which all directions are possible.
(A bait ball, btw, is when teams of predators work together to eat small fish like anchovies, sardines, or lantern fish. Tuna, seals, sharks, dolphins, etc corral the fish into a ball at the surface, and then pick them off. Sometimes rays get involved. It's like a toothy, toothy dance. Gannets and boobies dive down from above. They can go 20m down! And then sometimes a whale comes up from the deep and swallows the whole thing. It is my favourite part of any nature documentary.)
I consistently get compliments on the clarity of my space battles and my number one trick is just to stay in close third person, as tight as I can get it. I may know all or most of what's going on, but what I'm telling you is very much just what this one person is seeing and thinking -- I'm going there, I'm shooting this guy, I'm noticing that my squadmate said or did this.
(My number two trick is that I think of a lot of the action in terms of hockey games: this character is always three steps ahead of the action, that one hangs behind ready to cover an opening, and so forth. Probably any sportsball that ranges all over a field would work: basketball, soccer, etc. The point is to differentiate out how each character relates to the battlefield, which gives me a lot more ways to be specific instead of just "he's evading their shots and shooting back".)
Brutalist maze, Seattle
its called Freeway Park and while it is one of the most interesting single examples of Brutalism in the united states and im proud of it, it is so poorly designed in terms of public safety that it has been renovated twice(?) but continues to be geographically troubling, as its design has facilitated a lot of murders over the years. it was the subject of a funny but gruesome article in the STranger in 2002 called Topography of Terror. the city doesnt keep official tally of how many murders or assaults have happened IN the park but two men in their 30s were stabbed nonfatally during a robbery there earlier this year, for example.
Suspect that building mazes is perhaps not conducive to public safety, outside of minotaur isolation scenarios.

TL;DR: this post contains links to download the mainline comics in both the original IDW Transformers continuity and the 2019 'IDW2' reboot, as they are currently out of print and it is hard to consistently find complete downloads of them online. You can download individual issues or a full .zip file, from either a MEGA folder or via BitTorrent. Please share if anyone asks about where to get these!
This is an updated masterpost for both of my prior download posts for these comics, as 1) I have updated both folders quite a bit in the past few months to be more complete, and 2) I now have torrent versions if MEGA gives you trouble; I will be seeding these for however long I can, likely at least a few months, possibly indefinitely. (I have tested both and believe that the torrent is probably faster, ftr.)
In short: these are two sets of downloads which contain all the 'mainline' releases for the original and rebooted IDW Transformers comics continuities. I believe after much help from people on here that I have added everything I originally missed or did not correctly upload! I hope! God I hope!!!
IDW1 direct download | IDW1 torrent IDW2 direct download | IDW2 torrent
For IDW1, some notes:
These are in .cbz/.cbr format. To read .cbz files, you need to download a comic viewer program that works on your device, there's tons. Best way to read comics digitally by far.
The way these are collected reflects the Humble Bundle they did of a collection of the entire continuity ahead of the IDW2 relaunch. What this means is that everything here is presented in its standard collected edition, as digital trade paperbacks, until the very end; when the HB came out, the last couple trades had not yet been released. These comics (e.g. Unicron, the very end of LL) are therefore individual issues.
I have also added in the Last Stand of the Wrecker deluxe edition extras and the Dark Cybertron deluxe edition extras, alongside the extras in the Drift: Spotlight director's cut edition. Because I love you all.
For IDW2:
Unlike IDW1, I do not have the trades for this, only the same individual issues in .cbr you can find in a couple places already. But if it is more convenient for you to download a single thing in one swoop, well. You can!! Saves you the clicking I did, lmao. And it never hurts to keep circulating the tapes, does it.
Over the years getting ahold of these comics has gotten more and more scattershot, and the main remaining direct downloads either don't have easy bulk download options or have them in the 'IDW Collection' format, which is very unhelpful IMO reading order wise, since it mixes the different series together. Most public torrents are now very inactive as well. I'm hoping this will make it a little easier to Just Download Them. I have been asked a few times if it is OK to share my downloads, and the answer is yes (do not be stupid and @ Hasbro or something), share links as much as you want! I have the bandwidth, it's no problem š
#op u don't have the dreamwave comics as well by any chance lol... (@t4tmetalsonic) (sick username btw)
I have not checked if this is 100% complete, fair warning- I only have the DW comics for completion's sake, I may have missed a miniseries- but yes, and I have uploaded them to MEGA for you in a folder here:
6 files
It's zipped by series because that's how I downloaded it.
If you have issues with MEGA I can make a torrent, but since there's much less demand for these I will just do the MEGA rn! If anything is missing, I probably put it in the wrong folder, tell me and I'll track it down lol.
(@ everyone: I do take requests btw! Everything I have is somewhere online, all of Transformers is- but if you want a convenient, bulk download at high speeds, I'm happy to make you one, including torrents from my seedbox as needed, for comics, shows, whatever.)
all the rights that come with marriage you should be able to have without marriage btw. you should be able to designate a person who can visit you in the hospital regardless of your relationship to that person.

I really donāt want to open this can of worms because Tumblr hath no fury like people called out on their political performativeness but it is literally driving me up the wall to watch people react to Serkisā ākeep Tolkien whiteā commentary by insisting twice as hard that Tolkien would descend down to earth and dropkick the entire Republican party to hell or whatever, just because they want to ensure that a piece of media they enjoy isnāt seen as being morally impure. Case in point: I have seen at least five instances of Tolkienās āI hate apartheidā valedictorian address being used as a ācounterā to Serkis being racist, including by actual news outlets.
Except itās only ever the āI hate apartheidā line thatās shared, and not the actual quote in its full context. Because here it is:
If we consider what Merton College and what the Oxford School of English owes to the Antipodes, to the Southern Hemisphere, especially to scholars born in Australia and New Zealand, it may well be felt that it is only just that one of them should now ascend an Oxford chair of English. Indeed it may be thought that justice has been delayed since 1925. There are of course other lands under the Southern Cross. I was born in one; though I do not claim to be the most learned of those who have come hither from the far end of the Dark Continent. But I have the hatred of apartheid in my bones; and most of all I detest the segregation or separation of Language and Literature. I do not care which of them you think White.
Which is to say. This isnāt exactly the antiracist quote of the century, to say the least. This is a white South Africa born man and a white Australian shaking hands and going āomg we relateā and expressing what is a very, very mild āsegregation is not greatā opinion in order to convey his thoughts on an academic subject, ie the confluence of language and literature. Using race to make a point about his own subject of interest, in his own interest, which is, amusingly enough, what a lot of ostensibly well meaning progressive seem to be doing.
I also think that some of the general surprise around āwhat do you mean large swathes of the Tolkien fandom are incredibly conservative!?ā in lib/left Tolkien fandom is the result of a tendency in said parts of the fandom to transpose oneās own progressiveness onto Tolkien and turn a blind eye to things like, say, the Shire being a very specifically mid-century British racist construct that is very, very clear in its politics, often going so far as to insist itās anarchist or an ideal society or whatever the fuck⦠and then getting really Pikachu-meme ābut theyāre misreading itā every single time a conservative explains exactly what it is about the legendarium that they really love, and get surprised when someone uses the Shire being a racist construct to do more racism. It is 2026 let us do away with āI donāt see colourā interpretations of media, I beg. Nobody is cancelling you for enjoying a book that is not kind to race. Most of the books I love are not kind to race.
quote i wanted to emphasize
You can be sincerely, personally opposed to Nazi race science and apartheid violence and still write a mythology where moral and aesthetic worth consistently map onto a Northern-European somatic ideal.
