I was gonna post some words on it after properly editing them this past week, but I didn't get to it. I might still end up doing so.

However, it seems to me like they're trying to rectify the whole issue of Buck being emotionally kicked on and kind of being neglected last season not by righting things with him and Eddie, but kinda by circumventing their issues through use of the rest of the characters.

That way, people can't accuse them of building up Buck and Eddie. No, instead, they're just building up Buck with the 118. They're making up for the loneliness he felt after Eddie left by filling in emotionally with the rest of the group, so they can say, see? It was never about them specifically! It was about friendship. Eddie and Hen have grown closer! Lots of people are switching up! They're all interchangeable! Eddie and Buck are actually super platonic!

Because, yes, I am traumatized by Stranger Things, and I do think writers are bold now in what they think they can get away with. Queerbaiting has definitely evolved.

Not to focus on the negative, because I have had a good time in the fandom the past two weeks, reliving how things felt before the anguish of last season and the loss of faith we procured in the writers after Tim killed Bobby, but something about Athena being the one to tell Eddie to be on the ground before he found and saved him, and the whole emphasis on chain-of-command.

Tim Minear saying any of them would have done it for any of each other.

Having Buck make a reference to death so many times, ending up addicted to opioids, and Tim saying Eddie jumped so Buck wouldn't—doesn't it seem like misdirection? Like he's saying, it's not romantic! Buck just needs to be saved from himself! See, this addiction proves it.
