I get kinda sick of people who bash Buck for fostering Theo because they think he quote "throws his first family away" meaning Chris and Eddie and honestly I think they have a point about Buck feeling left out of Diaz family now that Chris is older BUT
Eddie is the one in charge of the dynamics here. he's Christopher's dad and it was his choice to let Buck become their support system and be more than just Dad's friend to his son. Just like it was his choice not to acknowledge it in any way except the will but that is for a situation where Eddie himself is not part of the equation anymore to the point that Buck didn't consider himself a part of the team anymore.
it started back in s8 when Eddie moved away to Texas. the whole "everything that matters is in Texas" was not just a silly line. Buck took it seriously and I think to this day hadn't let go of that. I'm sure he still thinks that the only priority Eddie has is Chris, that's the immediate family and Buck has no place there.
what pisses me off is that people don't seem to acknowledge that it's Eddie's responsibility to set boundaries in his family, and it was his call to not label Buck's role in Christopher's life. Could you really blame Buck for trying to create his own family when the person he dedicated half of the last 8 years to said "everything that matters is in Texas" and got mad at Buck having a problem with it?
