Buck is overall less sure of his and Eddie's relationship (childhood trauma from his parents, sure, but also maybe a part of him he can't acknowledge knows he wants more from the relationship and is afraid to overstep). So while Eddie just did it without asking (which shows its own set of issues lol), Buck would be too afraid to presume. Even though he knows Eddie won't say no, Eddie did it first after all, and there is no universe in which Eddie would possibly refuse, he would be afraid of overstepping and he would procrastinate, chicken out a few times, and THEN he would set up a perfectly engineered situation in which to tell him, maybe dinner at his place when Maddie and Chim can babysit Theo. Except NOW it sounds like a date, which is the very thing he's sensitive about bc it can't be like that with Eddie, it can't!!!!!!!!!

So anyway, one day when they are at the station Eddie asks him if he knows six across seven letters "a marine snail" and Buck, who's been panicking for weeks now, impulsively asks Eddie if he wants to be Theo's legal guardian and immediately wishes he could disappear

But obviously Eddie is touched, and smiles, and says, "of course, Buck, anything". And Buck feels SO relieved and so silly and SO IN LOVE he isn't able to hide from his own feelings anymore

Chris: Burn the house down.

Buck: And what did you do?

Theo: We made dinner!

Buck: ...

Eddie: ...

The way he genuinely just got dominated is crazyyyy
