I know it's for exposition but like they rarely have a goal when they hang out. It's pretty much just proximity hang outs. Like there is no shared hobby, concert, bar, nor activity that doesn't include exposition.

Like Eddie and Tommy hung out to watch fights and play basketball. Maddie and dispatch did karaoke nights. When they were still friends Maddie and Chim hung out they had hang outs like karaoke too. Athena and Hen are hanging out at a bar. The girls have wine night. Buck hanging out at a bar with Ravi.

That's how friend hang outs work they make plans picking a setting and an activity.

Like maybe one of Eddie’s sisters visits (in my mind it’s Adriana) and is like having life struggles and all Eddie wants to do is wrap her in bubble wrap and fix it for her the same way he would for Chris and that leads to an argument between them because “I’m not your child, Eddie and you need to stop treating me like one” but also “I changed your diapers and braided your hair and taught you how to walk, don’t tell me you’re not my anything”

And I need Eddie to naturally go to Buck but Buck immediately is like “no she’s kinda right, you’re not her father, Eddie” and so they also have an argument and for some reason or other Maddie shows up while they’re arguing and so Eddie leaves and then like a few days later or smth Maddie shows up at the Diaz house and is like “ik exactly how you feel because I feel it every time Buck tells me smth is wrong and I have to stop myself from saying or doing things because despite raising him for majority of his childhood I am not his mother”
