i feel like the post-election optimism has worn off for me. this country is not getting any safer for minorities just because we have a new PM.
and queer people will just take all the abuse without saying anything. So many of us are isolated, closeted, completely alone except for some online friends who live on a different continent. (It was an incredible privelage that i had two other wlw friends as a young teen. it's one that most people growing up in rural towns never had.) There's community resources, yes, but they're barely avalible to anyone outside of Budapest or a few larger cities. I know someone who travels two hours every week just to have a place where she can be herself. And even inside of those other cities, a lot of people just don't know that these groups exist. All they see is that the world is shifting right, trans people are dying, and no one is doing anything, in fact a lot of people are acting in disgusting ways online when faced with just the idea of a person who doesn't fit into a cishet box. the fact that we elected a center right government that's neutral on these things is barely a bandaid on the gaping wound that's hungary's lgbtq community.
